Option to toggle rotate when masking

When masking, the tool focus nearly always switches to rotate the entire mask instead of allowing access to the individual point(s) I want to select. I have never had to rotate a whole mask and do not ever thing I should need to anytime in the future. It would be very helpful to have the ability to switch this feature off.

I cannot believe this bug (and it is a bug) continues to exist for one of the most used features of the application! I have never been so frustrated. Why on earth would the assumption be that I want to rotate the mask over moving a point during animation? ONE POINT SHOULD BE ROTATE NOT ALL OF THEM! I would grade this bug as making the feature close to being unusable for anyone having to perform a lot of close and intense masking.

Agree. Masks in Premiere are horrible. Sometime clicking on anchor points moves the anchor point. Holding shift while moving an anchor point doesn't guarantee that the point will move horizontally or vertically. Also there's no ability to move edges of a masks, only anchor points? Or am I mistaken?

Make it go away!! In my 6 years of Premiere, I needed the rotation maybe twice. To get the mask point probably 100k times...

The ease of hitting that "play" button next to the Mask Path is soooo fantastic (massive kudos to Adobe for this), but YES, how I long to be able to track a mask by "scale and position" ONLY without including rotation. When masking a mirror or other reflection, almost *never* is rotation a concern, but almost *always* the mask rotates for some unknown reason and ends up being in the wrong place.

Magically turning work-flow into work-slow. I Love Adobe, but I cannot ever give them a best score on their questionnaires because of this program defect? When masking it feels like this control flaw in Premiere adds 2 problems for every fix while not even counting the extra clicks & time for re-arranging if zooming-in the Program Window's picture for a closer look at key frames (i.e.: click click click, zoom to 100% then reframe to see key frames again, only to find it's not close enough because rotate problem is still happening... so click to 150% zoom, re-frame again to see key frame work area... nope gotta click again now 200%, reframe all over again again to see key frames... welp, click 400% zoom, reframe agains to see key frame work ah but still ignores indicator able to add key instead program decides yet again to rotate mask.... (yes this is an exaggeration in effort to briefly show how a little inconvenient problem becomes a daily maddening nightmare) from workflow to work slow. The experience leaves me feeling like Chief Inspector Dreyfus as the follow clip demonstrates: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v30HUOx6SYk

When I need to be extremely precise while creating a mask, the rotate option always appears and I have to fight it to go away. Every time. There should be a separate key that you could press and hold to rotate instead of select.

How does this only have 5 votes? If you have a bunch of vertices, it won't be able to click the right one, and often switches to rotation. I use masks a lot for rough compositing and sometimes I don't want to build it in AE yet because I want to continue editing.

Is the point of making the mask tools difficult to force users to use AE? What's the point? Fixing this would be super helpful, I almost feel like it was done on purpose?

Mask behavior in Premiere isn't friendly, it's a little bit tricky. Sometimes making a mask, it rotates, and this is annoying.
