[Moderator: This thread was originally titled "Premiere Pro 24.4 Program Monitor Scrolls". It's been updated to make this thread easier to find. We appreciate - and are listening to! - your feedback on scrolling / panning in the Program Monitor]

I just noted after the 24.4 update, My source & Program monitor up & down rollers/scrolls on the sides just vanished or missing. Not sure if this still part of the zoom in, zoom out or use of hand tool new updates which has cause this to be removed or a bug - but, kindly let me know if anyone has experienced this issue. The screengrab below.

Changing this feature was not a good move. Why change it in the first place? AT LEAST make it selectable. If you must have scrolling for scale, put scrolling the timeline back as an option.

24.4 also messed up FX badges and dupe detection along with other behaviors that worked perfectly fine over the past however many years.

Dupe detection is already fixed in the public beta, so at least that's available.

  • You can now smoothly zoom into the Monitor using your mouse's scroll wheel and quickly pan around the Monitor by holding the middle mouse button and dragging.

Using the middle mouse is a pita, often find myself hitting the space bar, but that obvious does now work.

I get you're trying to make things more comfortable with doing everything only with the mouse, but removing the scroll bars entirely instead of having both options was a silly move on your part

can you return them back, please?

How do you manipulate the scroll bars w/out using a mouse?

Hello, all day, when I have been using my middle mouse the video zooms in and out rather than move the clip frame by frame. I had no problems until the latest update. Can anyone help? Anyone experiencing the same issue?

Thanks

Are you on the Program monitor? That has changed.

Scrolling the timeline area scrolls the sequence, scrolling the image area scrolls the image size.

Yes, I too noticed the 24.4.1 update removed the scroll bars from the Program Monitor (which appeared in previous releases when zoomed in).  I understand that some new Zoom/Pan functionality has been added with this release, however, I would like to request that the scroll bars remain available in the Program Monitor.  It is faster, at least for me, to set a zoom level and work with the scroll bars to quickly make minute adjustments to the layout.  Constantly zooming in and out takes me longer to achieve the same result.  I had to roll back to 24.3.

I so agree with you

I need to disable this new zoom in/out behavior on the program monitor.
I use the "scroll wheel over program monitor to move playhead" constantly, and have been for the 10+ years I've been cutting in premiere.

I'm all for Adobe making changes to default settings or ADDING or CHANGING default behaviors UI/UX -- BUT -- let us customize to make it work the way we work best.  Bury it somewhere in some 8th layer menu somewehre, or in some obscure keyboard shortcut.  TBH I love the scroll wheel over source monitor function so much, it has held me back from cutting on Resolve.

While working on a 1080p/29.97 video, when zooming inside of the program monitor to to anything greater than "Fit", vertical and horizontal scroll bars would normally appear, allowing me to pan around the frame. I use this to accurately move a mask around.

With 24.4.1, when I zoom in, the scrollbars have vanished. Is there a new way to navigate around the frame when it's larger than the panel, or is this a bug? Currently rolled back to the last release of version 23, and it's working as expected.

Thanks!

I have the same problem and can't find anything online about a fix or how to toggle these scrollbars on/off. I have different resolution footage (6K 360 Equirectangular on a 4K timeline - currently) so I don't think it's related to that. I'm also trying to edit masks. The best I'm able to do currently is use the 'hand' for moving around the footage, and then revert back to the 'arrow' for editing the masks and making other changes. I think there may be a bug in the latest update that's wiped out these scrollbars - maybe? Any help / suggestions much appreciated.

Doesn't work for me. Did you changed some preferences?

I noticed this too.  Ridiculous.

Hey everyone,

I just found the solution for those who want to disable zoom in and out on the monitor. Previously, this was done by going back and forward frame by frame (holding Alt for 5 frames).

Previously, you could do this by pointing anywhere on the monitor. You must do it within the timeline ruler area inside the Program Monitor.

With this change, you can now use the mouse wheel for frame-by-frame navigation and zoom in and out.

I hope this helps you!

Up until about 2 days ago, if the program window was active and I roll the mouse wheel, it would track forward and back through the frames. Suddenly it started tracking about 2 frames in either direction then it weould no longer track therough the frames but would make a  clicking noise.

Today the mouse wheel just zooms in and out. How do I get it to go back to where the mouse wheel tracks fwd and bkwd as it did for years?  A major part of using Premier Pro is asking how to fix it. Rediculous.

Can you believe we pay a monthly fee for a program that hangs, crashes, freezes, reconfigures itself to a point that the recommend fix is to go delete a folder from the program folder and restart? Windows go missing regularly, the display gets stuck, the timeline quits responding. This is the most mature program I have ever used in my 25 years in IT that is this buggy.  We pay Adobe thousands and thousands of dollars and restarting the app every hour is a part of regular use.

Are you using the beta?

If so: https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-beta-discussions/now-in-beta-continuous-zoom-and-pan-now-available-in-premiere-pro/m-p/14511018#M8944

If you want to scoll through the frames hover the mouse over the time ruler numbers.
