FrameMaker

I have a user guide with a cover page that needs one graphic for one product version and a different graphic for another version. How can I do this? I keep getting a message in FrameMaker that only text etc. can be conditional when I try to set my anchored frame conditional. Using the latest version of FrameMaker. Thanks!

Hi everyone,First post here as I cannot find an answer anywhere else.In Framemaker 2019 15.0.4.751I was issuing a "Fit Page to Window" from the bottom right and for some reason the font size in the book window has gone really small and I cannot find a way to enlarge it again.All books now open with this super small font.See picture below. I am using 3 x 1920x1200 monitors if that is of any use.Can anyone help ?Thanks in advance,Andre

I am wondering if there is a way a link can be added to the header or the footer of Master pages that will return the viewer back to the table of contents? 

Hi,I try to save my book as PDF and get the message that the distiller isn't available (File > Save as PDF). I reinstalled FrameMaker (2019 15.05.838) which didn't help. I can see, that in the Publish pod the Preset name is empty and I can't chosse one. I don't have a full version of Acrobat installed just the distiller that should come with FrameMaker.Does anyone know how to fix this?Thx.

Hi,Question related to the body pages.I have one document with all my Data and Related stuff. Since i need multiple copies of these formats - i assigned multiple master pages to a body of a series of master pages, i call this Set of Master pages in Body #1.Set of Master pages in Body #1 is repeptive, so i copied the related .fm file and imported it back into the book.But if i want to edit my master page - i need to do this separtly for each document. Is their a way to sync all body pages of documents in a book with 1 master page? Kind regards

Hello again When I enable "Track Text Edits," the edits are not appearing in red and green, but black. What do I do to fix this bugbear of an issue?

I have a file with a bunch of svg files which have been imported into anchored frames. Print looks good. However, when I publish as Mobile App, it seeems the svg's are interpreted differently. The bounding box around the drawing becomes enormous. My thinking is that, this has something to do with the way Adobe Illustrator exports svg's but I am not sure. Does anybody have experience in these matters?/bjørn

I create technical documents that track changes that are later entered into a 'Change List'. To create a Change List, I have to go through and find all of the change bars and then enter it all into the Change List. Can I generate a list of items marked by a change bar? FrameMaker 19 - Unstructured - Windows 10

UnstructuredIn my documents I have a change log and, throughout my document, there are change bars to the left of the section that changed.Can I generate a list of items that are marked by change bars?

I am publishing an app from a FrameMaker 2019 book. The process works ok, but I wonder why it is not possible to zoom on the mobile phone screen when the app is installed?.Would anybody know whether there is a tick box somewhere that I am missing?Best regards - Bjørn

We just switched corporate fonts to Barlow, and I cannot seem to get Barlow Condensed (otf) to be both bold and italic. Right now, it's an either/or situation. Is there any support yet for variable fonts?  With InDesign, I can adjust the skew of the text to get it to work, but the character designer in FM doesnt' have that option. The font works just fine in Office applications. I am on FrameMaker 2019, v 15.0.5.838, but users on other versions of Frame 19 and 17 are having the same issue. Is there a workaround?

I have run into a strange little problem I hadn't encountered before.I created a "Note" table style, based on an old one. It's one row and two columns, with the left column containing an "information" icon.The format looks fine, as long as the note is only one line of text.If it goes to multiple lines, the text starts over on the same line, writing over it. I realize that may not make much sense, so here is an example of what this looks like if I start typing "This is a note" over and over again: The row height appears to be locked. I tried to increase the maximum height at Table > Format > Row Format, but I can't increase the maximum over 14.Help! And thank you!

Sorry this is probably an FAQ by now but I couldn't find it on search.I have FrameMaker 2019 installed and licensed on a laptop and have just taken delivery of the new laptop which is to replace it. I presume the correct process is to install FrameMaker as new on the new laptop and then supply the license details from the old laptop, but I will need to keep the old laptop going (including using FM) for a few days while I slowly get the new one set up and prove that it's safe to switch everything over. Am I going to encounter a problem if I do this or is it as simple as I hope it is?CheersT

Hello CommunityI've generated a standalone TOC from a book file, but, one of the files (an index) isn't showing. I realize that I need to include the Index Paragraph tag when creating the TOC (it wasn't there before), but I don't want to recreate the entire TOC (it requires a lot of manual formatting). Is there a way I can revise/update the Book TOC with the new Index entry withough re-creating a brand new standalone TOC?

This worked last week and does not work now.... The MiniToc from the Frame doc does not appear in the HTML5 help file. It does have a help condition. In the Frame file when I apply the condition it appears, but it does not appear in the Help file that I create. This all worked very well for the last year, but suddenly does not work well today and I cannot work out what could have changed.Does anyone have any idea what I can do? thanks

I have a problem in transferring diacritics (phonetic symbols) to PDF files. Certain combining diacritics when put under or above regular letters look fine in FM11, but when a PDF ios made, the diacritic has slipped half a letter space to the right. How can I fix this so that the PDF retains the diacritic directly under or above the letter? (Note:this does not refer to the more common kinds, such as French-type accents, for which there are unitary unicode symbols, but other, less common combinations.)

We just changed the clocks ahead one hour, but my laptop did not change the time. I called IT and the IT technician fixed a setting in the BIOS to fix the time on my laptop clock. Now, I am getting a message from Framemaker that I can't use Framemaker. I tried to license Framemaker and got a message that I can't log into my Adobe account and got directed to a website. I was on hold for 30 minutes and would like to solve this using online chat, but can't find chat on the websit. Thanks

Hi,I am using Adobe FrameMaker 12 unstructured.I have an ExtendScript that updates the book with regards to numbers and handles some conditional contents. And as a last step it saves the document as a PDF file.In the FrameMaker 12 application when you select the menu item File|Save As PDF you get the PDF Setup for Selected Files dialogue. In the Bookmarks tab section, you can manipulate which Paragraphs you want to include in PDF generation.Is it possible to manipulate this PDF Bookmarks setup via ExtendScript ?And if so you have any code snippets i can get inspired by?Thank you for the help

Hi! Here's my problem: I have a ditamap which I publish to Responsive HTML5. Now, most of the pages won't be displayed when opening the publishing result. I have been able to go around this problem by simply saving xml files with slightly different names (not changing anything else) and then replacing the old files with the re-named ones. However, this doesn't work when I have xml files which are inlcuded in other ditamaps as well. If I renamed those and replaced the old, then I'd obviously be left with several version of the same page which would add greatily to the updating load. And what's crazy is that these same xml-files aren't missing when I publish the other ditamaps where they are included in. So, what is wrong with this one individual ditamap that refuses to publish pages, that other ditamaps can publish? Thanks for any tips!

I'm facing issues when I replace images inside a table and save it. We're currently using FM 2019 with DITA 1.2 for documentation Issue Scenario :Fig tag is removed along with the image tag and new tag is placed which automatically prompts for the href. Once the file path is provided for the href, the image along with the frame is inserted.This was working properly in FM 2015 but once we migrated to 2019 and followed the same process, the image inside the frame gets offset everytime we save and reopen the file Kindly advice  

When start Framemaker,  it always generate a mistake that "can not find mfc120u.dll" , how to adress it?
