Regarding Arabic language in Frame Maker, I have a problem while using "Adobe Arabic" font, that problem arises when creating PDF files, the text corrupted and looks like boxes.Another 2 problems while using "Arial" font,The first one is, when using the 'Italic' function, it looks like (????) in the data and when creating PDF files.The other one is, when using the 'nunation' marks, the letters which have such marks looks under the other letters level when creating PDF files.So, what the reason for such problems or how can I solve them?

I clicked the FrameMaker Icon as usual to open FrameMaker and it freezes at password. I then tried to open a FrameMaker Book I've been working on, and the same thing happened. It will not open an I cannot work on my documents!

In my version of FrameMaker 2017, in the Object Alignment Toolbar the icon for the Align Horizontal Center command is wrong. It is not the correct image. The image is not used anywhere else in the program - therefore it cannot have been loaded incorrectly. I do remember seeing it in FrameMaker 5.0 - it allowed you to put the toolbar at the top of the screen or float. It is grey at all times. However, the actions when selecting the icon are correct - the object does center. Is it just me?

How to include several index subebntries under one index entry?

I am creating an ebook from a book I made using 3 folders and approximately 30 files. Because each chapter is a separate file, you have to double-click in the TOC of the ebook to drill down to the page. The book has lots of cross references, etc. and seems difficult to combine into one file now, though I am willing if that it best way. Also, in the Responsive html 5, I notice that on my phone, I cannot "swipe" from page to page like is possible in some ebooks. Thank you for any help with these questions.

FM12 on Win7,I have several hundred FM files and I am supposed to evaluate the IXGen tool for FM.The IXGen documentation says that the tool damages unicode characters in FM files.How do I detect unicode characters in these files, preferably with a range search on the Book?Good news so far: the list of fonts in the Fonts pod does not contain the word "unicode"Best regards,

Hello all of you smart talented FrameMaker users,Is it possible to somehow format a table or an imported graphic/anchored frame so that the row height adjusts according to the imported graphic size? Tables do this automatically for text, but I have not discovered a way to make it work for graphics. As always, thank you in advance!

We are working with a vendor who is using Framemaker (Version 7) to create certain documents. We have to further update the documents. For that purpose, we are looking at the option to purchase Adobe FrameMaker Release 2017.I would like to know whether Framemaker 2017 is backward compatible with files created with FrameMaker 7.Thanks in advance !

Hello fellows,Before I run a certain part of my script, set Displaying to 0.When done, I return Displaying to 1. The script has finished running (I can scroll through the open file, switch between files) but the file is not displayed (sort of blank page). Only when I try to close the file, its contents appears on the screen. Any idea what could be the cause of this problem?Thank you in advance!

I'm trying to create a paragraph tag that includes a check mark at the beginning of the paragraph.I put the check mark in a frame in the reference page.I can put the check mark above or below the paragraph by defining the paragraph tag, but don't know how to put it at the beginning of the paragraph.

Hello,I'd like to use two different fonts in a variable (webdings and Kodzuka Gothic, if that makes a difference). I can't figure out how to make both fonts appear at the same time. I'm using FrameMaker

I am running FrameMaker 2015 on Windows 10 via Parallels on my MacBook Pro.I've never been able to get good-looking screenshots in Frame or WebHelp so I did some capture and format tests.I got fairly good results by capturing screen shots in Gimp and exporting them as PDFs. I imported those PDFs by reference into FM.When I used FM Publisher to generate WebHelp, all graphic formats I used (EMF, PSD, PNG) appeared in the Help, but the PDF did not.

Using extendscript or framescript, is there a way to access the "Read Application Definitions" to read an opened structure file? I'm using Structured Framemaker 11, and I need to update an application definition file to shift between a portrait and landscape layouts.The keyboard shortcut is alt-r, shift-R if I can just call it from a keyboard shortcut.Thanks for any help you can give me!Rick

Hi, all.This problem is as old as the hills; it seems to me that indents have been wrong in help output ever since I was struggling with Forehelp (remember Forehelp?) back in the day.BUT... I'm struggling with it now with regard to my .chm file and HTML5 outout from FM 2015. Bullets and numbered items wrap incorrectly.Framemaker source file:.chm output:HTML5 output is even worse:Does anyone have any idea what is going on here? I have to say, the Publish/Settings user interface is far from clear, and I have not had any success editing the Block settings -- or any other settings -- to get a satisfactory result.All suggestions gratefully received.

I have two question:1. I created a standard index,but don't know how to  the page number. I don't have a index related reference page.2. How to include the index in the table of content?

We have  a team of close to 30 people using FM templates that uses Open Sans. Ever since we started using Open Sans we get the unavailable font error. This happens when we generate the TOC or use the Find tool. We checked all the font folders that Frame uses and the Open Sans fonts are correctly installed. We also unchecked the missing font alerts and remember missing fonts check boxes under Preferences and the error still persists. As a workaround, we have people open all files in a book before they publish or use the TOC or Find tool. This has helped, but if Adobe can recommend a permanent solution to this issue, would appreciate. Thanks.

I'm on 64 bit operating system, Windows 7, 8 GB RAM. Other times the user interface will degrade and the text looks very strange. When that happens, I can shut down Frame and/or my computer, and that seems to clear it, but today I couldn't do that and the wheel started spinning and it announced that Frame was closing.Pam

I am trying to modify the Frame dictionary, and I am wondering what are the characters that are at the ends of some of the words?For example:airlift/MDSGairliner/Mairline/SRMZairlock/MSairmail/DSGairman/Mairmassair/MDRTZGJSWhat do all of those mean? Is there some document that explains them all as there are a lot more than these.Thanks

I copy some paragraphs from MS word to FrameMaker. I try to replace a character tag definded in the word file to another character tag defined in the FrameMaker file with the Find/change. I can fine a character tag but do not know how to change.

I have just about had it.  Somehow magically, now I can't convert my FM files into PDFs as I now get an error log.  It happened on Friday morning.  I was able to convert two files, then all of a sudden, the rest of the files I tried to convert I get this  error log file instead of my pdf.  Nothing happened to my computer or the software between the second and third file I tried to convert to PDF. I'm on FM 2017, and am running through VMWare on my MAC.  Any help would be appreciated.  I have even removed and re installed FrameMaker - no change.  No more PDF files can be run from my files.

Hello,In a Structured book, i need to get on attribute valus (on the highest element) but ...In a FM document, i can get value from an element by looping through all my document by "wraping" the element text and get the attributes (using : element.TextRange.beg/end).But in a structured book, i can't wrap the "element text" because it's not text, so how can i get the value of my highest element?

I am getting annoying behaviour with the "Replace Font" pod on my dual monitor Frame 2017 set up.Firstly, I have the Fonts pod open, with a list of all the fonts in my document.If I double-click a font in that list, it opens the "Replace Font" pod...but then, if I drag the Replace Font pod onto my 2nd monitor (out of the way of my document), it collapses, only leaving its title bar. The only way to reopen the pod is to click the button to reduce it to an icon, then click the icon to reopen the pod again.Is this a bug? I've tried half a dozen other pods and I can drag them onto my 2nd monitor fine, without them collapsing to their title bar only.
