I am facing the following problem:I have a paragraph that I want to replace some text from it.Say that I want to search for text "Hello world my friend Jonathan Foyl" and replace it with some other text. When I use the function F_ApiFind in order to find the text it does not work because the "Jonathan Foyl" is a Frame Maker variable! If it is just simple text then the F_ApiFind works successfully and it finds the text. How I can handle this?
Per default, FM only offers the strict task model. Is there a way to use the new general task model specified in DITA 1.2?Robert
I am using TCS 2015 on a 64-bit Win 7 box with 32 GB RAM.My workflow includes using Windows Explorer shortcuts to create PDFs from .fm files using either/or "Convert to Adobe PDF" or "Convert to Adobe PDF and EMail".Using either of those commands in Windows Explorer results in the error "There was a problem sending the command to the program", "the program" apparently being either/both FrameMaker 2015 and/or Acrobat DC (or Adobe PDF/Adobe Acrobat Distiller DC).FrameMaker starts as it should, and the file loads as it should, but apparently when FM calls Acrobat, it can't start as it should.I am a week out from a critical deadline of an internal workflow document discussing that exact functionality. If anyone knows the answer, it would be of GREAT interest to me...Thanks!
Hi all,We're on Frame 2015 working in a structured environment. We get this odd pop-up when updating and creating a PDF intermittently. We think it's tied to a specific book, but are not positive:=================="Entry AutoMnemoniseMenu not found in maker.ini; FrameMaker will use the default value: AutoMnemoniseMenu= On Do you want this default value added to maker.ini?"===================This entry is already in our maker.ini file. Whether we click No or Yes never matters, but this pop-up is preventing FrameMaker from closing and interfering with our automated conversions we run nigntly. Has anyone seen this? Thanks much,Shelley HooseSr Docs DeveloperRogue Wave Software
I've been using framemaker for over 10 years, and I have a nagging problem in TOC's.Give that you want standard toc's such as:1.1 Introduction........................................1.3Simply put, when you generate your TOC in a book, there may be times when the "paratext" is quite long and it causes the text to get to close to the page number or even wraps over to the next line. For example:1.1 Introduction to Framemaker 9.0 basics1.31.1 The small brown fox jumped over the b arrel1.1How can we set up the heading1TOC parastyle to maintain a distance from the page number and if the paratext is to long, wrap to the next line and put the page number on the far right side.my basic heading1toc style is set as follows:Tab stops: 1.375 left 6.25 right (with leader ....)on the reference pages, the heading1toc is<$paranum> <$paratext>..............
With track changes on in FM 2015 Unstructured, a colleague and I (2 instances on different machines and different books) are experiencing an odd error: the Conditional Text display does not match the definitions. In both instances, it is only in Chapter 1Inserted text is expressing white text/white highlight instead of green/underscore.Deleted text is expressing white text/white highlight instead of red/strikethrough.Conditional text settings are the default settings for track changes.I've tried: Re-importing the conditional text formats from a chapter in the same book that is not affected by this, as well as from Chapter 1 of our template book.Turning track changes off, then on again.Deleting the conditional text format
I have the following link error in the C++\CLI library that uses the latest FDK libraries.Where exactly is the problem?Inside the f_types.h file there is (in line 239):/* string list */typedef struct _masterListT *StringListT;What is the problem? This is a link warning, but I would like to resolve it.Thank you.
Canmot open the sgm file in framemaker latest version. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I have a book file that I generated a few years ago on FM 7 or earlier, but now am using FM 10. The file comes up OK, but I cannot edit it because it says that "I do not have permission". How do I get permission to edit and save this file? Earle Fox
I am using FrameMaker 12 with the latest Solidworks Professional PDM content management system.
Wie kann ich bei FrameMaker die Laufweite eines Textes ändern?Wie kann ich den Abstand zwischen einem Wort und / spationieren (z.B. Woche/)?
This question concerns FM2015 / DITA 1.2When I in insert an image then FM automatically inserts appropriate width/height attributes according to the dpi that I select. However, when I change the image size after that by clicking and dragging a corner (as you usually do), then FM removes the width/height attributes and instead inserts a scale attribute. Is there a way to avoid this? We need width/height attributes.I am not sure if I need to look into the r/w rules, because as long as I don't touch the image the width/height attributes remain. it is only during manual changing of the image size that FM removes them. I need to import a multiple page PDF into FrameMaker. I can specify each page number and it works successfully, but the missing piece is knowing how many pages are in the PDF. With FrameScript, I can use its EActiveXObject object to query the PDF and find out the number of pages. It can also be done with InDesign ExtendScript by using its app.doScript method to pass some Visual Basic to the PDF, returning its page count. I am trying to figure out how to do this with FrameMaker ExtendScript. Any ideas would be appreciated. One thing I tried: I was hoping that once the page number I passed to the Import method exceeded the number of pages in the PDF that the command would fail. But it doesn't; it simply imports page 1.Rick

I'm seeking some ideas on how to troubleshoot an error I received in Framemaker 10:MIF: "(null)" (1053289): Multiple anchors for the same table, frame, or footnote.MIF: "(null)" (1053289): Multiple anchors for the same table, frame, or footnote.MIF: "(null)" (1053289): Multiple anchors for the same table, frame, or footnote.Graphic file can not be replaced with Text file. From what I can tell of this error....somewhere in the .mif file, FrameMaker is saying that there is more than one frame with the same number. At least that’s the way I read the error above. There are no tables or footnotes in the document, so it must be a frame somewhere. Any tips on how to troubleshoot where this might be? I've scoured the internet for help, with no luck or further understanding. My file this error occurs in is 1250 pages so it would take a while to go page by page to figure it out. Thanks for any insight.
Dear friends and experts,It seems obvious that with my new project I have opened the box of Pandora...Palettes stay open even when setting a new cursor location, hence I use this for my dialogue. But the user can also switch to another document while the palette is open.Currently I have a button Refresh and the user is urged to use it after switching to another document. The function behind is to analyse the newly entered document and define global variables, update the dialogue. How could I detect the switch of the document ? I have not found something like onDocumentChange.(In the current script a check for changed document name is in the btnRefresh.onClick function to avoid irrelevant work).Thank You for any ideas.Klaus
Am I right with my observations?Ordinary (not named) callback functions are all listed as (for example) onClick() in the Functions pane of ESTK. In addition local variables in these functions are not listed in the Data Browser. Hence IMHO debugging is not possible. So I tried the method with named callback functions which avoids both drawbacks:Unnamed callback functionsNamed callback functionsmyDlg.btn2.onClick = function() { $.bp(true); aLocal = "gugus"; if (this.text == 'Disable Him') { this.text = 'Enable Him'; myDlg.btn1.enabled = false; } else { this.text = 'Disable Him'; myDlg.btn1.enabled = true; }}myDlg.btn2.onClick = ActButton2;// ...function ActButton2 () {$.bp (true); var aLocal = "gugus"; if (this.text == 'Disable Him') { this.text = 'Enable Him'; myDlg.btn1.enabled = false; } else { this.text = 'Disable
I opened my FrameMaker 12 book, and then used Open all files in book. The table of contents is included in the open files, but does not show up in the book (and is left out of my PDF). I cannot Add the toc file, because it says it is already in the book. I could delete and regenerate, but I've done this a several times and I would like to solve the issue. I don't understand why the table of contents (file reference) disappeared from the book, although the file is open and obviously associated with the book.
Is it possible to buy a licence for version 11?

FM11. DITA 1.2. I am processing translated XML files that I recently received from the translator. Some of them open just fine, but when I save them, or reopen them after saving I get this message:XML Parser Messages (Document Instance)Error at file C:\foo.xml, line 22, char 77, Message: Colons are not allowed in this name when namespaces are enabledParse error at line 22, char 75: Not well-formed (invalid token)Parsing aborted. The problem is here:<dita xmlns:ditaarch = "http://dita.oasis-open.org/architecture/2005/"><?Fm: BoolCondExpr"" State 0?>See that colon in <?Fm: "BoolCondExpr"" State 0?> ? That's what's tripping me up. It's not in the file when I opened it originally, and the file opened just fine. I see this on save and then the file won't open. Now I have to open the file in a text editor and get the colon out, before FM will open it again. This happens every time I open the file.Where is this coming from??? It seems to happen only with the files I get
