FrameMaker

Is there a good way to remove/fix REFERENCES TO UNDECLARED ID's?

I'm supposed to have the mobile app publisher in FrameMaker 12, but I don't see it in the Publish tab when I click File-->Publish. Does anyone know how I can find it or why it's not there? I've never used it before, but I'd like our team to start.

I am creating an Android mobile app from a book. When in Publish Settings > Application Details, when I try to change the Splash Screen image it reverts to the Icon image.I locate the Icon image and then the splash screen image. After selecting the Splash screen image the image that displays in the dialog box is the Icon image. After generating the apk the Icon is OK but the Splash screen briefly displays a white screen. I have tried to follow instruction in the Help but it still reverts back when I edit Settings.- John

I know it works in v11. But it definitely does NOT in v12 (at least not the version I have installed). Is there a patch that fixes this? What is everyone doing for a workaround?BG: I use IORs (indexes of references) to check my large books' fonts, external xrefs, conditional text, and most importantly imported graphics. Books that worked flawlessly in v11 to create all of these in my IOR do NOT create the imported graphics entries in v12, even though all other generated entries in the IOR update successfully.

One of those small, occasional, not-desperately-important questions: but it's Friday afternoon, and I have time to be curious.I've just opened a small file containing an overview of product specs, feeling it might be helpful if all the product manuals had a specs chapter. For historical reasons, all the styles in this document have names like :a1XR – :a1 is my normal style for an appendix heading, XR is for this appendix covering the XR variant of the product.The quickest way to get the generic document I'm after would be adjust the definition and then change the style name to :a1 – but apparently this is not allowed! I can type in a new name that doesn't start with :a1, but I cannot (and may not-) rename :a1XR as :a1So I created a new style, deleted the redundant :a1XR, and renamed the new style :a1 – could have been simpler, I feel.

Hi, I´ve an issue with FM10 and hotspots.When I call to a figure/graphic/image from a Data Module (S1000D 2.3) wich has hotspots the FM does not charge automatically them.I mean, other partners open the same files and when opening the cgm file in the DM the isoview starts and shows the hotspots inside the technical illustration to select them, but I don´t know why in my FM, Isoview does not start (it is installed too).Could somebody help me? I have reinstalled isoview, FM, etc... and the problem persist.Does another way to include hotspots exists?Thanks in advance.Regards,Javi.

I have files created in FrameMaker 12.Can I use FrameMaker 2015 version to open the files and generate PDFs?I get error when I try to do this. Just want to know if it is possible or not.thanks,Alice

Hi Team,There are unwanted characters appearing after generating PDF from framemaker, although FM file doesnt has such data.Attached print screen, I will really appreciate if someone provides the solution for this issue. I am using frame maker 15 version.This characters are x in rectangle at several places, same issue doesnt come up if I generate PDF of independent chapters, but generating a FM book and then converting it into a PDF it happens.Please provide the solution. I've been working on a branded layout for our Responsive HTML5 output from FrameMaker. I started with the Charcoal Grey layout files, which are available here: RoboHelp screen profiles and layouts‌I only noticed after customizing the layout stylesheet that the Charcoal Grey layout -- unlike the default and Azure Blue layouts -- has an annoying bug on iOS which causes things to "grow" (not sure what the scaling/zoom issue is here) when the device orientation changes, basically rendering our manuals unusable. Has anyone figured out a way around this? Is there something we can tweak in the Charcoal Grey layout to make it behave nicely on the iPhone and iPad?

I am creating responsive HTML5 output from FrameMaker. Can you embed a custom font so the output looks correct no matter what fonts are installed on the users' machine?

Is it possible to create templates without odd-even pages for use in digital content? Without the traditional right page, left page book format? Would it be easy to migrate to such a template if you've always used odd-even page template?

I've upgraded from FrameMaker 11 to FrameMaker 2015 and some variables seem to have gotten corrupted.This is an example of one of my variables in FrameMaker 11:This is how that variable displays in FrameMaker 2015, with a huge gap between the first two words:I've tried updating the character tags in the definition, substituting other character tags, and even rebooting my system, all with no solution. Is there a problem with variables in FM2015?My operating system is Windows 7.64.FrameMaker 2015 version 13.0.1.385.

HiI would like to select ten individual, non-consecutive words and apply a character style to all of them at once.  I do this in Word by pressing and holding Ctrl, double-clicking each word, and applying the style.It it possible to do this in FrameMaker?Thanks in advance!

Hi,I'm working on FrameMaker 11 for a book having more than 500 pages (Unstructured FM).But when I try to generate PDF of the book, it displays the following error message:If I click on OK or close the error message, it asks to close the FrameMaker immediately as it has a problem.Can anyone help me to overcome this issue? Is there any quick way to change a linked graphic to an embedded graphic in FrameMaker? Currently using FrameMaker 10.

I just updated to patch #2 based on other crash-related posts, but I'm still crashing. I've got a landscaped file, book minimized to the left, one file open, and a large referenced Adobe Illustrator file almost filling the page. The size of the AI file is 1.65 MB. Frame seems to have trouble repainting the page. Very slow. The crash comes when I try to copy and paste a small text box from one spot to another. Frame hangs, I see "not responding" in the title bar, and then it crashes closed. I looked for the %appdata% crash log file referenced in another discussion but can't find it. Why can't I find the quick access formatting icons anywhere? (justification, font size, weight etc.)

Since upgrading to FrameMaker 2015, FrameMaker crashes when we paste a text frame into a graphic frame. I work with a team of more than 20 FrameMaker 13.0.2.433 users, and we're all getting this behavior. I have tested with a new FrameMaker document to confirm that the issue isn't our templates, styles, graphics, and so on. These are the steps to reproduce the behavior:Select File > New > Document. The New window appears.Select Portrait or Landscape. (I haven't tested Custom.) A new FrameMaker document appears.Select File > Import > File. The Import window appears.Choose a graphic and click Import. The Import Graphic Scaling window appears.Select an option and click Set. The graphic appears on the page.Type a return to move the cursor to the next line.Repeat steps 3–5 to import a second graphic.Save the document.Click the Place a Text Frame button on the Graphics Toolbar.Drag out a graphic frame on top of the first graphic. The Create New Text Frame window appears.Click Set

Dear all - I'm back to my beloved project...I want to replace a found string by a TextSelction (formatted text) and started with Jang’s famous function  FindAndReplaceString.Since my replacement comes from a different document (sourceDoc)  I edited activeDoc to targetDoc and introduced a second document (sourceDoc).Actually the replacePara comes from an arry where it had been placed to avoid switching back and forth between the documents of a book (where to find and replace) and the source documents. I have learnt in another function that the information on the array requires that the sourceDoc must stay open.Of course everything works fine until I want to insert the replacelement:line 26 clears the found stringSince I do not insert a string, I skip lines 28 and 29 and try try line 30At line 30 sourceDoc is object Document and replacePare is object TextSelection. However, sourceDoc.replacePara is undefined and(as a consequence ?) line 31 pasts the current clipboard contents.O
