FrameMaker 12 and 2015 fail on systems with significant numbers of fonts...with NO FIX IN SIGHT! AVOID THIS BUGGY PRODUCT! I have waited for several months now for Adobe to work on resolving this CONFIRMED issue, and to date all I get are reassurances that Adobe will eventually work on the issue, but so far, NOTHING! I have a system with hundreds of fonts on it, which I need, and because of that FrameMaker's font selection menus FAIL to work. The basic issues are these: I have many fonts installed on my system. And, I find that I cannot select fonts successfully in FrameMaker 12 as a result. First, the Format -> Font screen cuts off my fonts by not displaying all of them due to my having too many installed on my system, apparently, making this dialog useless for selecting my fonts. Second, in the Text Formatting toolbar, I can select the font I want in the dropdown, BUT as soon as I select a font that is far down in my fonts list alphabetical
I generated a TOC in 2015 FM. I am getting extraneous words in it like NOTE:, TIP:, etc (attaching file)

Hey gang,I know about the Paragraph Tag option in Find and Replace. How do I narrow that to only certain instances of the given tag? Here's what I want to do: 1. I have a number of headings with paragraph tag "Heading 7". 2. I want to find text of paragraph tag "Heading 7" and containing only the text "Inputs", "Processing", or "Outputs".3. Then I want to change the paragraph tag of those specific headings to Heading 8.Any thoughts?-terry-FM11, Windows 7 Professional
Hi,Starting with a well organized FM12 unstructured setup, including table, para, and char styles along with anchored frames that do not have any overlying text, is there a tutorial you recommend for moving to structured FrameMaker? That is, there are a subset of styles that are possible after a heading, a subset that are possible after body text, etc. So, given a fairly well organized unstructured environment with no overrides, is there a tutorial on moving to a structured environment and building the EDD?Cheers,Sean
The goal is to allow users to copy/paste command lines in one piece. Currently, when the command line breaks into a second line (example below) then FM inserts a line feed making it impossible to copy it in one piece. If you paste the command into a single-line field, then only the part before the line feed is pasted. Can you think of any solution to this?Example: here, the command yum --enablerepo=sina-cd-* install sina-mgmt_meta_all_in_one_* should be copied in one piece:
My company uses Font Bureau's Interstate for published numbers. In InDesign and other software, we use the OpenType Feature > Figure Style > Tabular Lining option so the numbers in a sentence take up the same amount of space and line up if in a table. I've seen references elsewhere here that OpenType features for ligatures are not available in Framemaker 12, but I want to make sure I'm understanding correctly, in case I'm missing a spot where the figure style might be defined. Thank-you!
So, finally I am going to give structured FM a serious whirl. My unstructured FM style use is consistent and predictable.I am trying to use online resources, including, http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FrameMaker/12.0/Help/Using/index.html, I saw Adobe's samples from File > New > Document > Explore Structured Templates, but, honestly, they are light. Also, I watched the one Adobe TV video on converting from unstructured to structured.. However, I am missing some information.I am working on my first conversion table:1) What element name conventions should I follow? I am using Pascal case right now, but don't mind using all lowercase if it's preferred. What names should I use? "P" for body text or "Para," for example?2) I understand to map Heading styles to elements I call "Head," and various Body styles to elements I name "Para." My bullets and numbered lists I map to elements I call, "Item," and I plan to create a "List" wrapper for these, for example. Item is set with an attribute
The 'Package' option is no longer available. I last used it several months ago when it worked normally
I am running FrameMaker 2015 version 13.0.2.433 on a Windows 7 Professional Edition computerSince this has been installed I have a user that cannot save the .book file as a PDF. When it tries to create the PDF I get the following error: 'Internal Error 13024, 24462314, 27588801, Framemaker has detected a serious problem and must quit.'Initially I had issues with installation. After performing an uninstall and reinstall, on two separate machines, I still receive the same error. I have also not been able to find any help with the error codes listed above. Any help would be greatly appreciated.Thank you.
I've got a multi-chapter FrameMaker document with screenshots. The screenshots are JPG or GIF files imported into anchored frames. They appear in FrameMaker and all properties seem to be identical. However, in the generated PDF, some of the screenshots are blank white spaces (when clicked, they are a blue box), and some of the screenshots display as they should.I've compared the ones that don't display with the ones that do and cannot figure out the difference. What could I be missing???
kann ich am besten und schnellsten ein Word Dokument Template in Frame Maker importieren?
Hi, I need to globally retag all paragraphs within a document that have a "1stLevHead" tag and change them all to have a "1.0 Heading" tag. I thought the search/replace would let me do this. I can find 1stLevHead paragraphs, however, it doesn't provide a Change option for selecting the new paragraph tag.I'm on Framemaker 11.02 (unstructured). Thanks for your help,Beth
Hi Forums Members,My name is Harpreet and its always been a problem whenever i contact tcsssup@adobe.com for any support related issue, They never contact me back.Yes i am a former employee of adobe and i use to work in the support department for framemaker and i left Adobe in 2013, however, now i work for Oracle as technical writer and whenever i request for some urgent help nobody reply me back and they take me casually. Adobe has to understand that i am not longer an adobe employee and i need help with Framemaker but they never reply. I am fed up and i will tell my director to stop buying any more Framemaker licenses because the support team takes me casually and never replies thinking that i am a former framemaker team member and their friend.
OK, it's a cross-over FM/operating system questions … but I've just had a colleague asking "do we have any documents about tokenization?" I'm confident we don't have anything with tokenization as its main subject, so nothing with 'token' in the filename. Unfortunately, I now realise that short of opening every .book that might contain related information and then running a search, I do not know any way of scanning my FM library for content. Any ideas?
I have a request to provide a copy of a manual that was created in Framemaker as a .ai file. Is such a conversion possible or would it require building it from scratch?I'm pretty sure it can't be done, be want to confirm.

Hi everyone! So, I've inherited a network, and some systems, oh, and a framemaker 10 issue too. Background into - This install is on workstation that is on a secure and segregated network. No internet connection is available, and will never be. This is 100% old school sneaker net here. My goal is to remove the software from one closed network, and install on another closed network to stay in licensing compliance.Installed/licensed version of FM is 10.0.0.388, which works fine for the install process and use afterwords - for 30 days. After this period a reinstall is required to restore functionality (though, I have not tried setting the date to 10 years in the future and installing, hmmmm).I'm aware of the issue detailed here - https://helpx.adobe.com/framemaker/kb/cant-launch-framemaker-10.html Installing the TCS3 patch does not resolve anything though.I have a tool on one network Adobe Licensing Tool v1.0.0.14 (alt.exe), and I have an alternate serial numb
Hi everyone,I have another issue with the 2015 version of Frame (working on Win 10 and Acrobat DC). I often receive Word manuscripts and accompanying graphics in either EPS or PDF format. It used to be that FM was very efficient at converting the final layout to a PDF file, usually in less than a minute regardless of the size of the graphics. With this upgrade, however, I've been dismayed at the wait times - one technical paper took 8 HOURS to distill - it had 7 figures that were all PDF files! I had to leave it run overnight and went to bed. The next day, I opened the PDFs in Photoshop and downsampled them, then tried to run the distill again, with very little improvement. Is anyone else running into this? What can I do? I usually love getting these file formats because of their scalability, but when I have more than 1000-pg books, it's out of the question to have this kind of glitch in the system. Thanks for any ideas you might have for me.Gail
In FM 12 the following procedure (as read in the manual) ensures to see images in original size in HTML output. I did so and was happy. But now in FM 2015 this works no longer. >> In the setting file (settings.sts) you can set the image settings (preferred size) width and height to 0pt so that the images in HTML output are displayed in original size. In FM 12 it worked fine. The result was, that the style statement at the the <img> tag is removed in the the HTML output, so that images keep their original size. But now in FM 2015 it seems there is a bug. The same procedure has the effect that the style statement keeps in the HTML (is not removed) and width and height are set to 0x0pt,. The result is, that all images are invisible. If I unset "Preferred size" the images in HTML output are always scaled down in a "random" size, nobody knows where this comes from and how I can fix or switch of this scaling in FM 2015.>>Has anybody already same erperiences with the ne
Hi, I am giving a webinar on Editing Computer Languages with Structured FrameMaker on December 15 at noon CST (UTC-06:00). Register at https://12152015.meetus.adobeevents.com/. The abstract for the talk is: While FrameMaker was designed for editing and publishing prose such as book-length documents, structured FrameMaker is an excellent tool for editing computer languages and other data files. It spares the user the need to memorize key words and syntax, prevents many typographical errors, and automatically pretty prints the content. This webinar gives four examples: XSLT, CSS, read/write rules, and .ini files such as maker.ini. These examples illustrate structures that are both very simple and quite complex. The maker.ini template, for example, defines over 500 options arranged into more than 30 groups, but there are no recursive structures. Furthermore, while names like "MultiMediaLinkTableRowLimit" are long and perhaps difficult to remember, the syntax is straightforwar
I get Akamai errors when I try to download trial.
I'm working on some scripts to save FrameMaker books to older Frame and MIF versions. I'm using a framework kindly supplied by Rick Quatro to run through all the documents in a book. When I run the script from FrameMaker 12, I can save to FM 9, 10 and 11, and to MIF 7, so the script works correctly. But when I try to save to MIF 9, 10 or 11 or FM 7, the script fails silently, and my files are not updated. I'm using this code to specify the file format:saveParams.propVal.ival =Constants.FV_SaveFmtBinary70; doc.Save(name, saveParams, returnParams);According to the Object Model Viewer, the following constants are available for FV_SaveFmt:FV_SaveFmtInterchange110;FV_SaveFmtInterchange100;FV_SaveFmtInterchange90;So it looks like these constants are read-only: I can check if a file currently has this format but I cannot write a file in this format. The Object Model Viewer doesn't say anything about this, though.Am I correct? Is it impossible to save to MIF 9, 10 or 11 or FM
