InDesign

All of a sudden, I can't print 6 x 12" documents from InDesign. The print dialog box diagram shows my custom size document will be printed on letter size paper. If I change the paper size in "Setup", it still remains as letter. It's not the printer, I can print 6 x 12" documents in other programs. I've reinstalled both the printer driver and InDesign, with no change. I've reset preferences. 

I want to place it onto an indesign file that is 8.5 x 11 and when i use the place multi page pdf script it appears invisible and i have no idea why.

I want to upgrade my chrome version in CEP extension I am using the CEP version of 6.0 and when I alert the chromium version in CEP 6.0 then I got chrome version 88.0.4324.150 and when I upgrade the CEP by 12.0 then it's also return the same chrome version - 88.0.4324.150.In my system, I have chrome version of 131.0.6778.205 then why it's showing the older version of chrome in CEP extension. I want to upgrade my CEP chrome version how can I upgrade it.

URGENT!!! Good afternoon.  I made a catalog in InDesign, it has 590 pages and several photos. I could open the editable without problems never noticed the gbs of the file. Until after probably a week of not touching the file, changes were requested and, to my surprise, now it does not open and has 41gb of file size. At that time, a new license was requested in the company I work and all the programs were installed again, I don't know if it may have something to do with it.  When I try to open the file, a progress bar appears and just keeps loading forever. However, after a couple hours, it did finish loading but then I got a error message saying: “InDesign is unable to open the file because you do not have sufficient disk space. Free up some space and try to open the file again”. My question is, since I didn’t check the file size before, it had to abruptly go to 41gb, right? I never worked with a file so big, how would it even open with, let’s say, 30

Hi.I am using InDesign 16.0 on macOS Catalina 10.15.7.When I use InDesign, my cursor flickers. It doesn't happen with Photoshop or Illustrator.I already tried resetting the preferences, but nothing changed.Thank you for you help.Eleonora

Hi All,  I am trying tp place my chapters into my indesign template for my PhD thesis. The chapters are written in word, and use paragraph and character styles. When I go to place the word doc into indesign, if i use style mapping or even import styles, then for some reason when I go to place the text, it will only place the first few paragraphs from the word document? (yes im holding down shift when I place so it flows over). If I place without preserving any of the formatting- so just as 'plain text', then it will read the whole word doc.... but with each chapter being 10 000 words, and having multiple section headings, and character formats etc, I reeeeallly dont want to have to go through and manually change it if I dont have to...  Im hoping I have missed something glaringly obvious from all the online tutorials and forums I have followed! (Also I tried resetting preferences and that didnt seem to make any difference either).  thanks in adva

Hello peopleI had been working on creating a multple page magazine template for Uni Projects, put in quite som efforts to make good layouts, but one day ramdomly the file suddenly becomes unopenable and randomly crashed the program without any clear diagnosis ( see the vid I attach!) and I cannot work on it anymore. Has anyone encountered such problems before? I really need this file back because I do not want to start all over from 0 again, has anyone got a way to fix the damaged files like this? It was saved as cloud file btw.

Hello,How do I change the 'Edit with' option when right-clicking an image in InDesign?My work PC, when I right click an image I get the helpful option to edit with Photoshop, but when I'm on my home PC I get less than helpful options like paint and notepad.When I click the 'Other' option I have to find the Photoshop.exe file but there are no options to make this the default setting (Like you typically do on windows when selecting a new file type > program)Anyone know how I can do this as I often switch between the two.I've checked through the preferences but haven't found the option.Photoshop CCIndesign CC Both updated to latest versionsThanks

Hello everyone! I'd like to override only Running Header variable on certain pages without overriding every single element on a page. Is that possible? I know i can create separate parent page with Running Header replaced with Section, but maybe there is something easier than that...

One of my students pointed this out to me the other day... They were using InDesign 2025 (MAC and PC). I tried it on my end, I was usin InDesign 2024 (just the MAC).   I created a 'Facing Pages' document with 8 pages, and it stuck like that I created a 'Primary Pages' document with 8 pages, and if I either wait a second or click on any pagesthumbnails, it changes to 1 page document! See the attached video. Is this something new for 'Primary Pages'

My question pertains to the area of responsibility as a designer versus that of the offset printer's. I have a Taschen derrived design with somewhat narrow inner margins (1.2 cm inner, on a 21 x 26 book, with 1.1 outer and 1.5 bottom). Do I/must I be the one who is reponsible for ensuring the book block and all its finer adjustments allow those inner margins to effectively work and not see text/pages creep into the center crease, presumably by adjusting and tweaking those margins and in effect, the book's design (though, granted, I am definitely the one who defines it is 400 pages, hardback, rounded spine, and with hollow back to help it lay flat), OR is it more so the printer's technicians who take my design and make subtle and complex calculations and adjustments to ensure that the inner margins are given enough additional excess paper to bind and pages open properly, without excess arch or bunching, and effectively see my design work optimally and as intended? Do I need to be ready

Hi, I haven't used InDesign in a few years. I learned it for a specific project (a full magazine layout) and - with the help of this community - the end result looked the same despite dropping from 500Mb to 1Mb. It was someone here that turned me on to ClearImageLinkMetadata to reduce those file sizes (apologies for not remembering who, because the difference was considerable enough for me to make a mental note to always do this if I have to use InDesign again). But this was a long time ago, and I have been tasked to edit a couple of pages from the old mag project and re-export a new updated version of it. So of course, my first thought was "Do I still need to run that 3rd party ClearImageLinkMetadata tool before the final export to filter out hundreds of Mb worth of bloat?" Or does InDesign finally offer the option to filter image metadata out during export (like it does with PSD layers that aren't turned on)? Thanks!

I used to have adobe indesign but it stopped working right so I uninstalled it but when I tried to reinstalled it it said incompatible

Hello. I have been trying to implement the preview checkbox for quite some time (when it is active, it should show the result that will be displayed). Is it possible to implement this at all? I am trying to write a script that coping the current page as an image to the clipboard.My approach is to export the current page as a PNG image, and copy it with `nircmd clipboard copyimage` shell command.I tried using `app.doScript` to run `nircmd`, but without success. Note: Although I succeeded to do it with a bridge to photoshop:var bt = new BridgeTalk(); bt.target = "photoshop"; bt.body = "var f = File('" + tempFile.fsName + "');" + "app.open(f);" + "app.activeDocument.selection.selectAll();" + "app.activeDocument.selection.copy();" + "app.activeDocument.close(SaveOptions.DONOTSAVECHANGES);" + "app.close(f);" + "f.remove();"; bt.send();but it opens the photoshop program, and it's annoying.

Hyperlinks that are visible within the doc: text > Hyperlinks > edit hyperlinks pane  are not showing up in the Window > Interactive > Hyperlinks pane. (see screen shot). 2 links are listed in the Hyperlinks pane and they work.The rest of the hyperlinks can go to the destination within and to other InD docs. But when compiling all the 20+ docs into a book, those links don't work. They default to the 1st page of the book. Tech specs: Mac OS  Sequoia 15.1.1InDesign v20.0.1 So how can the links be restored to appear in the Window>Hyperlinks Pane? And then made to work in the Book PDF? Urgent help needed, please!  I have already:• re-saved as idml & updated the doc.• deleted cache & preferences a few times. • tried to re-create a few links, but they still don't appear in the hyperlinks pane Some background: this InD Book has been in use for years and regularly updated and has functioned as expected in the past. Hi I can't upload any files to InDesign. Adobe instructions say go to File > Place but Place is greyed out when I select File. So when I click on Place, nothing happens. Also Ctrl + D does not work. I hope you can help! 

While working on merging some pages from one file into another, I've encountered a possible font loading error in InDesign 2025 In InDesgin 2025 if I copy some text from a packaged file into another or new file, the font used will look like it is loaded (even if the font is not loaded on my system). The font's path will list the packaged font as the location.   If i save and then export the file with the pasted text, the PDF will have repalced the font with the default font. If I quit InDesign and reopen the file with the pasted text, the font will not load and the standard font warning will appear.  This does not occur in InDesign 2024, the font warning will appear for the pasted text.  I've repeated the issue on two diferent copumters as well as having a colleague enounter the issue.
