Lightroom Classic

Hello Adobe Team and Community, I am submitting an idea to solve a critical workflow issue in Lightroom Classic: any modal dialog box completely pauses all ongoing background processes. **The Problem (Description):**When a long-running background task is active (like exporting thousands of photos, importing a large shoot, or building smart previews), a simple modal dialog box can appear unexpectedly. For example, the "Enable address lookup?" or a face detection confirmation. When this happens, the background task is completely halted and remains paused indefinitely until the user manually dismisses the dialog. **Why Fixing This is Valuable:**For any professional user, this is a major disruption. If I start a 5-hour export and step away from my desk, the entire process could be stopped 10 minutes in by a simple pop-up. This defeats the purpose of background processing and forces me to constantly monitor the application. It severely impacts productivity and makes it impossible to run ess

Lightroom has three different levels of selection (not selected, selected, most selected) and represents this state with different colors of grey. This is a poor choice, because they are very difficult to differentiate. For instance, it's very difficult to identify the beginning or the end of a long selection when scrolling, because everything is just grey. Please make the colors customizable, or at least set them to easily distinguishable colors.

I see so many reports and threads of corrupted catalogs caused by the catalog being stored in a cloud sync directory, most often it seems to be OneDrive. LrC causes this scenario by placing the catalog on Windows in the Pictures folder that is under OneDrive by default.   I suggest that LrC create the catalog somewhere else. And to make it even better if LrC warned the user when the current catalog is stored on OneDrive or perhaps any cloud-sync directory.

Today, I was editing a photo shoot with a couple standing on a bridge with a bunch of other people. I spent probably 15-20 minutes carefully masking all of the extra people on the bridge, intending to generatively remove them. However, when I was nearly done I accidentally hit the "C" key, which took me into the Select/Candidate view in the Library module. I then hit "Q" to go back to the Remove tool in the Develop module and my entire selection I'd just spent 15-20 minutes on was gone. This will also happen if you accidentally click on a different tool. Masking will only persist if you've clicked "Remove" to run the generative AI. This is really problematic and time wasting. REMOVE TOOL MASKING SHOULD PERSIST IF YOU SWITCH TOOLS OR MODULES REGARDLESS OF WHETHER OR NOT YOU'VE RUN THE REMOVE FUNCTION. When you export unmodified RAW images from MacOS Photos app and ingest them into lightroom, the GPS data isn't handled correctly. This seems to be due to an Apple bug/feature where the XMP contains incorrect  GPSLongitudeRef (perhaps always set to E). It would be nice if LRC detected the mismatch, the fact that it is an Apple image and then just use the image GPS data, not the XMP GPS data. I have a bash script that uses exiftool to do this for me and it solves the problem but I doubt most people would be happy running a bash script.All the files here have this issue. In unserem Katalog sind oft Fotoserien (+20 Bilder) mit ähnlichem/gleichen Bildausschnitt, und teils 15-20 abgebildeten Personen pro Bild.  Lightroom Classic bietet leider keine Möglichkeit, die z.B. einmal für alle 20 Personen gesetzten Auswahlrahmen (Gesichtsregionen) auf alle anderen Bilder (eine beliebige Bildauswahl) mit zu übertragen. Obwohl Personen-Keywords synchronisiert oder kopiert werden können. Es würde sehr viel Zeitersparnis bedeuten, diese Facetagging-Rahmen kopieren zu können, da bei gewissen Fotosets oftmals bishin zu mehreren Stunden die selbe Information immer wieder neu eingetragen werden muss. (gerade weil bei körnigen SW-Bildern die automatische Gesichtserkennung weitestgehend scheitert)

Request for change. In the crete masks/Landscape, add at least one inverse mask, in this case, Invert Sky. This to allow a quick special mask where a user can apply edits such as the curve, Clarity, and several possible contrast edits to everything except the sky.          

Currently in each export template there is a setting, that existing files should be overwritten without warning.This works fine. However, if multiple export templates are selected, this option is ignored and instead copies with a suffix are saved. Please allow for an option to also allow overwriting existing files in Multi-Batch-Export.

Request for change. In the Landscape Mask selections, in addition to the Sky, add selections for Sky Blue and Sky Not Blue. First one would select AI Sky, but would be intersected to the color Blue (as such the mask would not include clouds), and the other would invert the intersect to the color Blue (as such the mask would only include clouds, i.e., not blue)      

Stitching panos is especially problematic when there's a clear blue or otherwise featureless sky. Often, in fact virtually always, LrC chops off corners of the sky that were in the original captures. It's also nearly impossible to shoot a 3x3 with the horizon perfectly centered, which is normally desirable to maintain verticals. LrC will essentially chop off the entire top of the sky and screw up the perspective of the remainder. The only workaround is to center the captures slightly below the horizon so the top row has some ground included at the bottom. Oh, and a large expanse of water in the lower portion of the pano can also be problematic. Before LrC added the pano feature, I had been using PanoramaStudio Pro (I'm currently using v4.xx), which has an option in its initial Align dialog to "place non-aligned images using metadata." Hi. I'm loving the new Denoise feature of LR. It really is superb and love the fact that it no longer creates a new file etc. However, the default setting of 50 denoise is a little bit over the top for my personal liking. I find it creates an image that looks overly softened. So I always go in and change it to 30 as my preferred setting. That's fine. Except that takes extra steps to achieve. It would be wonderful if in a future release the Default level could be set by the user. So for me, everytime I clicked the Denoise option it set to 30 as my default. Thank you

Please send this suggestion to the highest level: I've exported many books from Lightroom's Book MOdule to  Blurb. What's missing is the 8x10 trade (softcover) option. The 8x10 hardcover costs me from $60 to $140 depending on length of my book. Even with the 20- 30% discount blurb offers me (so I can buy in bulk)  I'd be charging more than the market can bear.   On other hand , the magazine options and Blurb's softback trade options (designed through theri Bookwright templates) are reasonably priced. PLEASE add an 8x10 paperback to your options! By the way, the book module has never been improved since I've been using it (10-15 years, I bet). Isn't it time? For example, how about a way to lock in the positions of your photo and text cells? Or a proper ruler? 

Love the new Lens Blur feature but the blurred area is too smooth and doesn't match the parts of the photo in focus, it would help to add a slider to manually, or better automatically, match the noise (similar to Blur Gallery filters in Photoshop).A temporary fix is to add noise to entire photo. Attached a detail of an area affected by lens blur next to in focus.

 Adobe! It would be super useful to have a way to enter verbal directions or prompts to the Adaptive B & W and Adaptive Color feature such that one can let the AI know your intentions are and guide it, so it can help one create the perfect photo adustements.  As it is, the back-and-forth process with the Adaptive tool is hit or miss, since the AI is just "guessing" in a sense.  Understand?      Thanks, Eric Platt

LR displays the capture times for video from many cameras in UTC, rather than in local time of where the video was shot, which is obviously less useful to users. Though the original sin was a poorly written Quicktime/MP4 standard that is inconsistently obeyed by cameras, LR could handle the situation much better with a small amount of effort. The De Jure and De Facto Standards The Quicktime/MP4 standard specifies that the time in the Quicktime:CreateDate field is in UTC, not local time, and the standard doesn't provide for a time-zone field as EXIF does. However, prior to smart phones and GPS-connected devices, most cameras recorded local time in Quicktime:CreateDate, not UTC, and many cameras still do. But now, more cameras (but far from all) are following the standard. They fall into these categories: 1. Smart devices that connect and sync time with the Internet. These devices know both UTC and the local time zone. Apple devices obey the standard, writing UTC

Hello! I edit a lot externally in photoshop/nik collection and would really love a shortcut for Develop Module->Stacking->Expand/Collapse stack.

I currently shoot a lot of Bracketed shots for exposure blending, and with each shot having a different shutter speed the auto-stacking can fail to accurately stack the grouped shots - especially when the shutter speed gets up into 10+ seconds!I would love an option for Auto Stacking to work on the time delay between the shutter closing and the shutter opening again, so it is a true measure of the gap between shots. In this way I can auto-stack on all bracketed shots even when the shutter speed is seconds long. Calculate the time between shots by adding the shutter speed to the capture time of the first shot, and then compare this to the capture time of the next shot, and if I am using Continuous shooting, this gap will be only a fraction of a second, regardless of the shutter speed.Gary

Please create a function to toggle on and off all of the "remove tool markers" at once, as well a keep the current one by one editing step.  REASON:  If you have several images that are similar and you copy/paste the edits to the next image(s), by activating all of the markers at once, you can reshape the colored overlay to match the differences from the previous images and receive a similar desired result as the previous image(s).  This would prevent having to click on each marker one by one to shape the colored overlay, which is teidious and time consuming, and sometimes causes us to miss or overlook a possible necessary edit. 

Lightroom’s new masking tools are powerful, but refining a mask’s edge still lacks precision tools that Photoshop users rely on. One feature that would significantly improve control is a Smudge (Push) tool for masks — similar to the Smudge tool in Photoshop. This would allow us to: Push or nudge mask edges inwards or outwards with a brush Correct fringes and overlaps manually without re-masking Refine object edges (hair, fabric, architecture) visually and intuitively   Current methods like subtracting a brush or adjusting feather are too coarse. We often need subtle manual tweaks, especially after AI masking or Range Masks. Please consider adding a “Push” or “Deform” brush for masks — even a basic version would be a major upgrade for local editing.

  The current workflow for batch processing is fragmented and inefficient. Simple batch tasks require switching between Lightroom, Photoshop, and Bridge — often using outdated or redundant panels like Image Processor, Export Presets, Actions, or Scripts. What we need is a single, unified batch processing tool that allows us to: Convert between formats: TIFF, PSD, JPEG, PNG, WebP Change color spaces (e.g., ProPhoto → sRGB → FOGRA39) Resize images by long edge, width, height, percentage, or megapixel target Rename files using dynamic templates (EXIF time, sequence, metadata) Apply actions, develop presets, ICC profiles Preserve or modify metadata     All of this should be achievable without manually chaining exports across three different apps with conflicting settings and limited output options. A proper cross-application batch engine is long overdue — especially for photographers working with thousands of files across color-managed workflows.    

With all the great AI stuff Adobe is rolling out, I con't understand why Lightroom classic doesnt have a duplicate finder function.  I have used both Teekesselchen and duplicate finder for years and they are ok imo but not near as good as Peakto or Excire.  I currently am subscibed to peakto would rather give Adobe my money (because I aready do).  Excire is expensive for a plugin and it does not make sense to me why this technology is not baked into lightroom.  Is there a reason im not aware of?  Is in coming?

What I would like to see - and is hopefully easy to program - is the facility to collapse and expand similar actions in the HIstory panel of the Develop module. For instance, if I have made several consequative brush strokes, it would make viewing the History panel easier, if I could collapse the series of Brush Strokes.

I noticed there is a third party plugin called: https://www.evlaa.com/   why on earth in 2025 are we still using crappy web galleries designed 20 years ago?  Why should i need a third party program to do something you guys should have done 10 years ago? Why is there not: a. AI powered separation of a photo shoot into collections using facial recognition b. automatic generation of web galleries based on those collection names (last name of person for example) c. a client rating system that will let them drill down, compare favorites, and email me their selects d. A better looking modern design of the web galleries where the clients can zoom, view full screen, etc.   It's great to use Adobe AI to remove powerlines, and turn horses into zebras and unicorns, but implementing these other real world features would actually save us time and money for working studios.
