Lightroom Classic

When you perform a Lr search against "All Searchable Metadata" it appears to only search within the IPTC Core fields. Is it possible to search within the IPTC Extension fields?

Hi,    There are many cases where allowing the user to edit the Camera or lens in EXIF make sens.  For example: The user wants to add the information to photos they scanned The user uses a DSLR with an adapter to use lens of another brand, and it is not recognised The user wants to add this information to videos shot with their DSLR (most cameras do not include the information in the exif for videos, like MP4, but the information is still important to have)   I know there are weird/complex solutions like ExifTool or Capture Time to Exif to edit the exif of a video or an image but I do not want an extra tool that I need to trust, to buy and to learn how to use, when I'm paying so much money to Adobe.   So my request: Let me edit the Camera and Lens.   Thank you

Hi! I included "Date Time Original" in the metadata panel (This because Frameo need that information to show the picture in the digital frame with correct date, not the date I export it from Lightroom), but didn't get that metadata information after export. "Customize", in the same panel, shows a lot of information under Basic information. But in Metadata preset there is only "Copy name", "rating", "Label" and "caption" under "Basic info".   Expand Basic info with everything that shows under Customized in the Metadata panel!What's the point of the Metadata panel if I can't  choose to include that customized information?When I click Export -> Metadata there is only "Copyright only", "All metadata" and so on, but not customized/chosen metadata. I think there should be that kind of choise.If there's already a solution to my problem there should be explaned with a step to step video on the website.   Thank you! 🙂  

Hi group, I need the possibility to organize my shootings by date AND time in a differnet way. For me this two features are very helpful: 1. Smart Collection by Date & Time (Business requirement) Example:As a user I want to collect all assets shooted in 2024-12-12 from 09:30 to 11:24 or all assets from 2024-12-12 9:30 to 2024-12-14 11:20. Now I'm able to sort images while shooting an event with a lot of different groups or acts - lika a carnival parade, a concert with a lot of different acts or other events with the possibility to add a time to a timeplan. In my case I have to organize - based on a timeplan - more than 100 different groups - based on time!    2. Smart Collection based on a day and month (for most private usecases) Example: Every 24. of december Every 10. of november start by 2021 Every 24. to 26. of december With this setting I am able to sort the images based on a frequently event like christmas or birthdays or other events.   Thanks Stefan

Regarding the labels that can appear above and below the full size images, while it is nice to be able to define the font color along with the background when making a gallery, the size that appears onscreen is very small - giving the ability to increase the size would be most appreciated

I use a custom panel end mark with a graphical legend for my stars and colors. It's handy to have as a reminder when in the library module. Here's an example: It would be helpful to have a different graphic end panel for the development panel group with my workflow reminders like optimal order of steps, finishing notes, etc.  Essentially like a develop sticky note. But there isn't currently a way to do this.So, my suggestion is to allow different end panel marks for the left and right panel groups.  

Simple Text Overlay function in LightRoom Classic (and LR too) will be a very welcome additionWe do a lot of social media posts now that requires some non-complex desighFunctions like Text Overlay and Image Overlay (including transparent PNGs) for adding some logo, stickers, emojis and texts within LrC in Edit module without touching Book module will be really helpful and will speed-up common contemporaty workflows.

Wenn man große Mengen Fotos hat, reicht ein Katalog nicht aus. Und je mehr Ordner es werden, desto länger werden die Pfade, am Laptop ist das kaum mehr übersichtlich. Irgendwie sind auch die Stichwort-Felder zu klein, Tag-Wolken wären viel intuitiver... Aber am meisten wünsche ich mir, dass man Sammlungen in den entsprechenden ordnern ablegen kann. Damit könnte man sie auch zwischen Katalogen hin- und her syncen, was ja leider nicht geht und mir den Spaß an Lightroom immer mehr verdirbt.Bleibt noch ein zeitgemäßes Druckmodul- und Buchmodul, mit dem man gescheit Schriften einbinden und freie Formate wählen kann. Dann wäre LR wieder zeitgemäß. So ist es eine alte Dame...

When using the Lightroom Classic SDK it would be great to be able to move photos in the catalog between folders programmatically.   A simple example would be for writing a plugin that moves selected photos between parent catalog folders, while maintainig folder structure (to move files between disks).   While it is possible to create folders and move disk files using `LrFileUtils`, any catalog photo moved that way ends up as 'missing' in the catalog because their disk location is changed by `LrFileUtils` but the photo `path` in the catalog is not updated.   It is possible to read a photo's path using `photo:getRawMetadata("path")`, provided by `LrPhoto`, but it is not possible to change a photo's path using `photo:setRawMetadata("path")` because `path` is not a valid key for writing back to the catalog photo.   So in summary, it is currently not possible to move a photo between catalog folders in a Lightroom Classic catalog using the SDK.  `LrFil

Hello Everyone!   A little context, I take photos regulary of vehicles in front of the same background but they just rotate for different shots, I usually apply the same settings to create the same style and look for the business on social media, to easily repeat this process I have a preset for my base image settings and presets for my masks I usually apply but I wish there was a better way to automate this workflow and styling of masking shown bellow.   Mask Creation Workflow: Create a mask of just the vehicle using Subject AI Detect, then refine the AI mask by using add and subtract brushes > Copy and Invert the mask to create a background mask > Apply gradient mask to bottom of the image > 2x Copy the inverted background mask and create a gradient subtract for each All Masks then have their adjustment presets applied with some fine tunning here and there.   When you create an inverted copy of a mask it simply carries over the data such as Subject AI and Brus

I'm hoping that the Adobe developers are monitoring this forum, because it would be a huge help to me, if there were a lasso tool (magnetic and polygonal) in Lightroom, to select areas for broad adjustments, such as those available with the adjustment brush.  Sometimes, it's just too tedious to use brush strokes, and a lasso would make selecting the area to be affected so much easier.

I would like to be able to copy text from a photo, as can be done in iOS Photos app on the iPhone since 2022. This would be a huge help in Lightroom Classic for finding photos that contain text, such as travel photos of information signs.

This is a request for Lightroom Classic, but would be useful across the Adobe ecosystem. I would appreciate it if I could search. If I opened a Lightroom catalog, or Bridge for example and did a search for "red", and only images with red would appear. This would help me with my catalog of jewelry photos. If I asked to show me images that contain the color "plumb", and only images that contain that would come up.    For extra points, had a limitation slider that would allow me to contract or expand what might be considered plumb.    For extra points: ask me if I'd like to tag each of those images with the tag "plumb" and then suggest others that are close to it.    Sounds like a good use for AI to keep it busy in the background, adding this metadata.

If you are tethering your camera on a shoot, very often your hands are away from your computer and moving the mouse cursor to click on the Live View button is a bit slow. So it would be super helpful to have keyboard shortcut to start/close Live Capture. Also to rotate the orientation. I'm used to the shortcuts with Nikon Capture and Fuji's Capture app, but using LR directly for tethering and live view is a lot easier, if basic in functionality, but it gets the job done. Please consider this, Adobe.

Lightroom Classic does not seem to allow making a develop preset for healing.  This would be HUGELY beneficial when dust spotting multiple images.  If there is a way and I've missed it, please let me know.  Otherwise, consider this a request for a very helpful improvement.

I really wish Lightroom Classic would not strip metadata when it makes a slide show (at least as an option). I often make slide shows just to visually label my pictures to show people but then all the metadata goes away which make them much less 

I routinely rename files on export to give a user friendly name to a file rather than DZ999999.NEF., and while I include the exported image in the catalogue the export process loses the 'Original FIlename'. This makes it impossible or at best very difficult to track back to the original RAW file from the exported JPG.   Could 'Original filename' be included as a Metadata export item?  

In the Develop > Lens Blur panel, could you please make the 'Use Device Depth' option status always visible. E.g.: "Device depth: on" or "Device depth: off" or "Device depth: not available"   Right now, users need to click the '...' in the corner, and all it reveals is whether the device depth is being used or not. Its an extra click for every photo edit.    Showing the status would take no more space in the panel than the '...' if you used icons for the 3 states. Thanks   (Lightroom Classic 14.1.1 Release)

Lightroom: Add 10-bit support for end-to-end 10-bit workflow. That is, Application->Driver->Graphics Card->Monitor for true 10-bit color. At the moment, all that's missing is the application. CS5 supports 10-bit color, why not Lightroom?

This suggestion is not about buttons and controls per se. I have a bit of a problem with the way the LR interface looks so dark compared and somewhat cluttered to other programs (such as Photoshop and Premiere Pro). I think it may be the very dark borders between and around panels. I'm guessingthe idea is probably to isolate the pictures, but for me it ends up providing too much ~contrast~ against the pictures. I would be very happy if this became customizable or just les contrasty.

In Reference View, I would like the option to Zoom in on the Reference Photo in the same way I Zoom in on the Active photo.  Ideally this would work like Sync in Compare View.   My use case: I want to evaluate two different approaches to enhancing color in two versions of the same window.  I would like to be able to edit the photo in the Active window as I make the comparison.  The 100% Zoom option for the Refernce window is shows too small an area.  I need the flexibility to use the normal Develop Zoom tools, ideally synchronized across both photos for efficient working.

I want to have the latest version of an edited picture available in jpg/jpeg (or even png/ tiff/ ... depending on ones preference) for immediate usage on every platform and in any tool. Today LRC forces me to keep detailed track of every picture I modified in order to export it out of LRC. Even more to assure that I still have the lates version and not forgot to export. It would be great if there was a selectable option that asks if an automated export should be started whenever an editing session ends. The existing parameters/criteria that are available within the export function could be used. In addition, an option to either overwrite the latest exported file or create an extra copy should be added. That way it is very easy, flexible and a fast to keep the non LRC versions of the photos in sync with the LRC catalog.

I use the "Make a Second Copy To" feature all the time.  I find it invaluable.  If I stuff up and lose an image or deleate and realise I need it some days later, it's a God send.  It's much easier to retreive recent images that way than from a full backup.  Of course the Lightroom 2nd Copy file builds up very quickly.  Every now and again I'll go into it and deleate anything more than about 2 calendar months old.  We have such good facility to clean out old previews.  Can't we have something similar for the Lightroom 2nd Copy file? 

Good morning,For a few weeks I have been using a 2 in 1 computer with a stylus for editing photos in Lightroom and it is very wonderful compared to editing with the mouse. It's much more comfortable, I often do this lying in bed with the tablet on my legs.However, there are some features of Lightroom that would require adaptation for use with a pen:1. The bars and their slider for adjusting exposure/contrast etc located in the right panel are a little small. For optimal work it would really be better to thicken them and enlarge their cursor.2. The numbers of these bars which indicate the percentage are located to their right. These numbers are hidden by my hand when using the stylus. So it would be good to move them to the left of the bars.3. When using the stylus I do not have access to the keyboard and therefore certain commands are harder to execute. Example: undo, multiple photo selections. It would be cool to have a small panel on the screen that can be personalized and which woul
