Lightroom Classic

I have used Lightroom Classic for nearly 20 years and have a large catalog (about 70,000 images).  As you would expect, I’ve also spent countless hours organizing the photos, editing and assigning keywords.A few months ago, I suddenly began to experience a new problem.  Suddenly, the “Exif and IPTC” fields on the right side of my screen were all blank (no keywords visible, no location info, no copyright info, etc.).  The small “spinning wheel” could be seen but it never stopped spinning.I searched these forums extensively and also many other sites.  There were recommendations that included resetting preferences, deleting the metadata helper file, and more.  Ultimately, nothing has fixed the problem.I note that deleting the metadata helper.db file does help for a short period.  In order words, if I delete it and then start Lightroom Classic, the IPTC and EXIF data reappears, however, after anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes, it disappears again and the spinning wheel returns.In addition, eve

I have just spent over two hours trying to view & edit some pictures in LrC but keep getting the message "Lightroom not responding" & have to close it down & try again. About 30+ times so far. First I couldn't even get it to show the folder I wanted then next time I got as far as viewing the folder but was unable to select a picture before it stopped responding, next I got the piocture but couldn't move in to Develop etc, etc.This is not the first time this has happened, which is why I haven't edited anything  since before Christmas as it is so annoying. Especially after having the issue with photoshop that wouldn't recognise RAW files.How can Adobe justify increasing their prices when their product fails to do what it is meant to do.On top of all that I have just heard that the prices are rising & that the most affordable package is being withdrawn. LrC up to date (15,6) however when I go to LrC and use a people image, then use masking icon, the icon to use the latest upgrade (i.e.) as shown by Terry White, is not there.   Dale

I use a Mac M5 Max with mac OS Tahoe 26.6 - lighroom cc keeps crashing within about 5-10 seconds of launching the application. What should i do? I have granted full disk access and tried disabling the graphics processor already.

So continuing the saga of importing from a cfExpress type b Card raw files from my z9. It takes about 9 hours to import roughly 4k files. I am using a reader and very fast cards for read and write speeds. Some of the events I shoot leave me with more than 10k images to import so just moving into a folder on my harddrive and then imporing is not practical as I end of with files with the same name spread over multiple cards...LR renames the file when writing to prevent this from overwriting existing images.  This slowness has persisted for several years now as I h ave been reading about this issue for quite a while. Adobe you can do better..please fix this.

 I'm doing a lot of work where I have 2 different edits for images and it takes forever to go back and copy the other edit and then have to go back again to copy different edit. I don't want to create a preset since the edits might just be for that specific day/time.

I’ve processed multiple images in LR and try to send them to open as layers in PS ready to stack. PS wont finish importing them it locks up. This has only occurred since last week. It worked flawlessly previously.

Bonjour,J’ai des photos en double dans un dossier et les doublons ont “ 2.RAF” ajouté à la fin du nom ([espace]2). Hélas LR me sort tous les fichiers qui se terminent par “ 2.RAF” mais aussi ceux qui se terlminent par “2.RAF” (sans l’espace)… Comment contourner ce problème ?Je suis sur MAC.Merci

I run LrC on a Windows 11 computer with German as system language.From 15.5.1 on LrC does not show its UI after its launch after having changed the language in the Presets to English. It is only shown in the Windows Task Manager as Background Process.My test sequence:Today I updated LrC from 15.5.1 to 15.6: LrC showed its UI, the Presets switched the language to the system language, in my case German. I switched the language to English and clicked “Restart ...”. LrC restarted and no UI was shown, only as Background Process.Then I downgraded LrC from 15.6. to 15.5.1: exactly the same as aboveThe I updated LrC from 15.5.1 to 15.6 again and after launching it the UI is shown - in German.I’m afraid to change the language again.

Summary: Lightroom Classic throws a generic "unknown error" when importing HEVC video files tagged as hvc1, which is the default output format for DJI cameras (tested with DJI Osmo Action 6). The same file remuxed to use the hev1 codec tag imports without issues. No re-encoding is performed — the video bitstream is identical.Steps to reproduce:Record video on a DJI Osmo Action 6 (or likely any DJI camera outputting HEVC). Or use attached input file. I’ve had this problem for awhile now and haven’t been able to find a solution.  On the import tab when attempting to import pictures it takes Lightroom classic forever to generate the thumbnails. I’m not talking about the previews that get built based on my choice during the import. I talking about the grid view where you can select which files to actually import.  I just tried on a sample of 280 pictures and it took the better part of 3 or 4 minutes to generate the thumbnails. Which is about as long as it takes to do the actual import AND generate 1:1 previews…  I’m shooting primarily a fujifilm XT5 with and only shoot .RAFLightroom version 13-3 (but has been happening for the better part of the last 2 years) I’ve got a very good homebuilt computer Intel Core i7-13700k (liquid cooled)RTX 4070 (GPU acceleration turned on)64 gigs of RAMHarddrive in question is a 30% full M.2 NVME SSD I previously bought a high end card reader and usb 3.0 cabling hoping this would help. A couple of months ago, I went to open a Lightroom Classic catalog, and it appeared to crash. The first Lightroom graphic appeared, but after a few minutes, the catalog didn’t open. At first, I force-quit and tried again. That didn’t help. Then I resorted to pulling an old catalog file from Time Machine, which worked initially but later failed the same way after closing the catalog and reopening. It wasn’t always immediate. Sometimes I could close the catalog and reopen it right away, and it would work, but eventually it failed the same way again.  I dug around in the Lightroom community and found many other people having similar issues, but most seemed to be using Windows 11. Hi Adobe Lightroom Classic team,I regularly shoot panoramas with the DJI Mavic 4 Pro using Free Panorama mode. In most cases, Lightroom Classic merges them perfectly, so this is not a general issue with DJI panoramas.However, I have encountered several specific panorama sets where Lightroom Classic is unable to create a panorama, while the exact same source files can be successfully stitched in other software, including Affinity Photo.From what I can see, the issue may occur more often with panoramas that contain a larger proportion of sky or less distinct detail in some parts of the frame, although I cannot say for certain that this is the cause.I would be very happy to provide the exact original image sets where Lightroom fails, together with examples of the successful stitched results from other software. Hi! Kind of a noob here, so please bear with me.   Problem: Today, while working in Lightroom Classic, I noticed that a bunch of my photos had an exclamation point icon added to them. See the image below. When I hover over the icon, it says "Error writing metadata" (pretty scary) Clicking the icon opens the window below. When I click "Import Setting from Disk" my adjustments seem to be cleared away (not great, lol).   When I click "Retry Metadata Export" that seems to fix the issue. The only problem is that there are thousands of photos that display that icon.   At first, I thought the issue was isolated to photos that I had made edits on, but upon further investigation, it seems that that is not the case.   Personal Investigation I'd Done: Naturally, I googled the issue but haven't found any definitive answers. We are working in LR Classic. Students were working on drives that were formatted to match their OS–Mac Extended Journaled for those on Macs using spinning drives, APFS for those on Macs using solid state external drives, and NTFS for those working on Windows. Many students were not able to copy or move files into their LR catalog upon import on both Macs and Windows–the external hard drive was not available–and showed up as red with a warning. Many of the students were not working with card readers.The workaround we came up with was moving the photos into the desired destination folder in the finder, and then trying to import by using the “add” function. However, for several students, the “add or move” function wasn’t available and only the “copy as a dng” or “copy” were, but not to the external drive. In the Lightroom Classic Develop module, when using the HSL panel (and similar ones), I suggest using the right mouse button (context menu) to switch between Hue, Saturation, and Luminance modes, rather than constantly moving the mouse back and forth every time you need to change modes (which happens very often). As you can see, the commands to change H,S,L are uneasy to reach when working with the mouse in the middle of an image 

Hello Adobe TeamWhen I need to refine the edit in Photoshop I export directly from Lr to Ps. But when it’s time to save the file and return to Lightroom I always get a filename with a Lowercase extension. There is no option to set it to Uppercase [image 1], unlike the export dialog [image 2].  I tried to rename the file manually within Lightroom, rewriting the extension to Uppercase in the Filename field, but doesn’t work. It reverts to Lowercase on pressing enter to confirm the change.I also tried renaming outside Lightroom, in the Finder, then right click on the image in Lr. But there is either no option to synchronize only the file. Synchronizing the folder is not always desirable. there might be images I don’t want/need in Lr. I’ve also noticed that renaming outside Lightroom, when I get back into Lr, there is no alert badge on the file preview signalling the external change.By the way, what I’m asking here is Uppercase extension when exporting from Lr to edit in Ps or External Edi

If I am running Aftershoot and editing in there no prob, same with PS.. but when LR is on for more than 10 it keeps selecting my 6 MONTH OLD SSD! I changed cables, slots, etc.. reverted back one version to see if it helps. I will be super upset if LR crashes my external… I clearly need to do a backup

my windows 11 desktop with LRC 15.6 is useless. NOT RESPONDING. Crashes no matter what-can’t open catalog. I get NOT RESPONDING NO MATTER WHAT I DO.  MY LAPTOP with 15.5.` LRC still works. WHEN CAN I EXPECT A STABLE 15.6??????????????????

When you select to auto mask the sky, you can darken the sky using exposure. Sometimes the sky is still blown out. A quick “auto fill” sky button would be amazing. AI would use the same sky color that is available elsewhere in the photo, or, you could set the color using a color selector- or just tell it “daytime” or “sunset”. It would work for blown out skies out windows as well for indoor shots. You can get this effect using other features, but this would make it fast and easy in Lightroom. When pulling exposure down on the sky on a JPG image, sometimes you get bars of choppy color gradient. There could be a “auto smooth” sky option to make the sky and fix the choppy bar gradient.   

I just upgraded to the latest version of Lightroom. Now I cannot see or access any of the photos in my catalog. When the catalog is loaded on LR Classic it says there are “0” photos.
