Lightroom Classic

In Lightroom Classic, the Quick Collection always had its own set of hotkeys for saving (Ctrl+Alt+B), clearing (Ctrl+Shift+B) and setting it as a target collection (Ctrl+Alt+Shift+B).    That's great, except I don't really use it all that much. Instead, what I do use most of the time is a Recent Picks collection where I add new images regularly. This collection is a mixed bag of images and its primary purpose is to be a catch all way of syncing new images to my phone and Apple Tv, when I don't really need or want to create dedicated collections for just one or two images.   Then, I have a couple other collections that I use regularly for adding new softproofing copies for prints, black and white images, and drone shots. Each of these collections is usually nested in appropriate folders/collection sets and whenever I need it, I have to go dig for it and right click to set it as target collection.   I think it would be much more convenient and much faster if we had as

This would be a very useful feature. If a collection set is created with multiple collections inside, it should be possible to print those collections to folders with the same name of each collection eg: collection set "Wedding"      collection "Bride"      collection "Groom"      collection "Guests" When printing all photos from the collection set, three folders should be created, each one with the contents of each collection

It would be useful to be able to select the destination folder for the enhanced files. I don't want to have both files in the same folder, but in another one. I know I can create a folder select the enhanced files and move them to that folder but these are all steps that slow down workflow. So this might be really a useful addition to Lightroom functionality.

In the Export panel, add an option to save a snapshot during the export. Include custom options to name the snapshot with the date or other custom string. This can be saved in an export preset.   As an example, I have an export preset that use used for a specific social media account. I can update that export preset to save a snapshot of the image. The snapshot is named after the social media account and date, such as "IG 2022-10-01" or "FB 2022-10-01". I make some changes to the image and use another preset export on the same image which uses different settings for printing the image, a snapshot is saved, named "Print Adobe RGB 2022-10-08". Later, I can view the snapshots to quickly see versions of the same image used for different social media networks, printing, or other uses. This also allows for a history of exports to be saved in snapshots.

Using local adjustments with presets like Dodge and Burn and other own presets requires two mouse clicks and constantly watching the preset list to click on the wanted preset.The first mouse click can be replaced by the usual shortcuts like M or Ctrl-M or K but the second - the selection of the wanted preset - needs the mouse (and my eyes).It would be a great enhancement if one could assign own or predefined presets a letter or number shortcut, like 1=Dodge, 2=Burn, 3=MyFancyNextFavoritePreset, and so on.I assume that those shortcuts could be stored in the preset xmp files - and that making them "active" only after activating a local adjustement tool like gradient or brush would not interfere with other user interface aspects.   [moved to ideas - mod.]

Some ideas to improve the Face Detection workflow.   When manually updating the name of the suggested person, the text pop-up is too narrow. It could be double the width to minimise truncation of the whole name. The width should probably be based on some localisation settings or be content driven i.e. match the widest length.   Additionally, the text pop up could be enhanced with at least one thumbnail to help me identify the person. It could be optimised to help the photographer choose more powerfully with either text or image.   When in the Faces view and you are asked to confirm faces, it would be good to understand context and actual size of the person in the photo. People in the background who are slightly blurry are possible options. However, you want to make a decision about whether they are validly defined in the photo. It's hard to do from uniform rectangles, noise from low light and pixels from being far away aren't easily distiguished.   There are two sce

Hello, I have a feature request that would save a LOT of back and forth when selecting and processing images in LR.  Can you please add the search feature to the Develop module so that we don't have to keep switching back and forth between the Library module to search/select an image to edit and then click on the Develop module to actually begin editing.  By adding the search feature to the Develop module it would reduce the time/clicks to find/select and begin editing. Flipping image does't register in history in LR Classic.    This bug/issue is really annoying since I work as a medical photographer in Helsinki University Hospital and me and my colleaques shoot a lot images wiht mirrors that need to be flipped.   If the workfow gets interrupted for some reason its hard to remember which images have been flippedd and which not.   A fix to this would ber much appreciated, thank you.

Currently when you use Photo Merge utilities the merge action name is appended to the end of the file name.  Unfortunately this then renders the file name unusable if you wnat to export with the original file number. For example if the filename is IMG_0435 and you perform a Photo merge HDR action, the resulting file name is IMG_0435-HDR.  If you use the 'original file number' function in custom file naming you would get 0435 for the orginal file name and "" for the HDR file name. So either let the user decided how HDR and pano files are named during the operation or fix the orgianl file number function to work with HDR and Pano appended.

I make heavy use of keywords in my catalogs to find images. Because of that, I also rely on the auto-complete keyword feature to keep them consistent. I've been using only one catalog for all of my photos, over 215,000 so far. The catalogs aren't meant to hold so many photos but when I create a new catalog it doesn't save any of my keywords or any of my other catalog-specific settings. It would be really nice to have a higher-level settings area where LrC would remember keywords, publish services, import develop settings, import presets, metadata presets, export presets, develop presets, and more. Having to recreate all these things every time I create a new catalog makes me never want to create a new catalog.

5 years ago, poster Sean Phillips first suggested this idea. Adobe has officially marked it as "implemented" - however, it is not implemented. Preset subfolders are scanned by LR, however, directory structure is not respected beyond the first level.This makes preset management kludgy and inefficient. Please correct this by simply allowing the LR preset hierarchy to reflect the subfolder structure in the LR develop preset folder tree.

Okay so a friend of mine posted this to show an app that lights a picture and I thought, "Adobe needs to do this on Photoshop..." It's something that I can imagine Photoshop having as one of their filter galleries. I don't think Lightroom does this, I never used it before, but that would be a time saver and a nice touch to a layered or merged image.

Dear all,   I haven't seen this discussed elsewhere in the forum, sorry in advance if I missed something.   When I use facial recognition, Lightroom create a "person" keyword, and adds it to the list of keywords. At export, the name of that person is exported in two fields: Keywords, and Person Shown (IPTC Ext:PersonInImage).   I would like to have the following option: Facial recognition could populate directly the IPTC field that Lightroom calls "Person Shown" (see attached file), rather than entering it in a keyword.   If facial recognition would do that, then that person would only be in that IPTC Ext:PersonInImage field, and not in Keywords after export (I tried manually, it works very well).   After exporting, I am insterting the JPG files in a Digital Asset Management, and it causes problems to have that person name in both keywords and IPTC Ext:PersonInImage (or Person Shown).   Thanks in advance for considering this. The introduction of the new mask system also meant new mask overlay modes beyond the classic "color overlay": on black, on white, black on white and a couple more - so, now we have six of them. While we can cycle through them using Opt+O / Alt+O, it's not very convenient since I guess some of us only use a couple or three of these overlays, and having to cycle through all six of them every time is not necessary (it's not the end of the world either, but I guess it could be improved). So, maybe we could have some kind of pre-selected "cyclable" overlays, like we can do with the crop overlays (there's a small window where you can tick which overlays to display when cycling through them), to select just the ones we want to see - for example, if someone just wants to cycle from color overlay to black on white, it would be awesome to just switch back and forth from one to the other without having to see the other 4 overlays. Thanks for considering this idea.

Hi folks, the most time i use my iphone next to my fuji camera to take pictures. i tried some apps for gps logging in the past but most times you forget to start or stop it and you miss the locations or your akku drains empty. Is there maybe a chance to export the coordinates from the whole icloud library and import it to lightroom?  This would give me a chance to tag most of the pictures in Lightroom which was taken near the time of the iphone.    

I want to export almost all the Metadata but I do not want to export the LightRoom editing information! (Local adjustments and/or Global adjustments)(I have photos with up do 140.000 "crs:PaintBasedCorrections" lines in the EXIF data!!)Other users and/or used cases have different needs, so the Metadata export options should have a list of categories, to select from.

Hi All, This is request for improve LrC. Current, individual search box for folders and collections, It's easly scrolling out from left pane when open 'folder'/'collection set' tree(s), so hard to seek search box for scroll up for left pane for new query. For easy querying folders/collections, Please unify folders/collections search box in fixed position that do not scroll out of left pane. and query results appars each folders/collections.  

In the Export dialog, provide the option to add a border. Nothing fancy - any colour so long as it's black - and give control over its width in pixels. And of course, make sure too that it is added after any sharpening. People simply shouldn't need to rely on plug-ins for this, not after 3 versions of the program. John

Adobe give us please an option to disable the info pop ups when you select a tool. 

Sure, we can do this manually in two parts, but it would be a great help to those less technically savvy.

when selecting luminous range masks, it is not always possible to create a seamless transition, especially when selecting deep shadows at the end of the range slider. Having the option to blur the mask would allow  us to shorten the range sliders (so we don't affect outside areas) and still hide the transition. I think we used to be able to do this in previous versions. Thank you.

Let there be  Auto Sync Copies and Auto Sync Stack!   One of the most mission-critical features of Lightroom are virtual copies and the syncing of settings (copying/pasting from one photo to another). Everything works well until you actually expect for the copies to function as copies. I'll explain.   Currently, a virtual copy is an actual LR copy of  another image only at the moment of its creation. Once you make any changes to it, that "virtual copy" is no longer a copy, it's just a  virtual reference to the original image with whatever additional changes you made to it. It somehow reminds me of the Stamp Visible feature in Photoshop. You make a copy of the state of things at a point in time and then work it further. Whatever changes you make to the layers below will never be visible. Let's just call it a fork.   I propose that virtual copies get some kind of redemption to live up to their names of being a "copy", with a feature boost that enables Sync C

I am having great difficulty seeing the folder highlighter when moving images/folders because it is very pale grey and it is particularly difficult if there is some light in the room.  I understand that there are no settings in LR for changing the interface look, colour or contrast.  It would be extremely helpful if this could be changed so that I can use a different colour or just put a simple stroke border around the current highlighter so that I am confident that my images have gone to the correct location. Idea: the new mask function is great, but I wish to get these masked parts fixed in the image where they are. Or does it exist already and I am not able to find it?   Observation: Using the brush several times and above or around very tiny parts (eyes f.i.), the mouse/cursor unconsciously grabs the already masked parts oftenly and move it away to different places in the image. The function of „showing tools“ is not helpful in those cases, as these massive amount of graphic icons hovering around do disturb the whole view or even hide these tiny parts which I was concentrated on. I usually work with disabled function to have a clear image. But when de-selected "showing icons", you are not aware about where these masked sections are placed exactly. Why not adding a simple option to fix/unfix every (first) mouse click with brush tool?
