Media Server (read-only)

I am looking to stop using windows media encoder for my live streams.  I have used this encoder for years alongside a windows media server in order to present live meetings and use script commands to change the html page source for a particular frame on a webpage.  It works well but only in IE and only on a PC.  I would like to provide support for other browsers and other platforms (ipad etc).   FMS seems like a good solution alongside JW Player, but I cannot figure out if I would be able to run this script commands live that will alter the frame on the page that hosts jpgs.Any thoughts?Thanks.

Hi We developed one application in which a user can chat with a customer. But FLV size of user is double than that of customer FLV. At the time of playing we are getting problem of sync issue between FLV files. We are setting buffer size of 10 seconds. Is their any other way so that we can sync both FLV and an officer can view the communication of user and customer.Is DVR helps in sync? If yes then how?Please reply.Thanks

Hello there. I am running a FMS 3.5 and I need to turn on my logs. I am using Sawmill to analyze the log files from this dedicated FMS, and I need to be able to gather reporting information on-1) my VOD folder - located inside \program files\.....adobe...\FMS...\VOD  etc 2) live streaming: when I use FMLE to send a stream to my server, I'd like to see those logs as well. I have looked online into a few things... I found an Adobe document, which mentions a SERVER.xml file and a tag that controls the logging. Hi,I've been checking about the Scope and Distribute tag inside the Application.xml tag, and still unsure about the advantages that each value bring.The values are adaptorvhostappinstCan somebody explain me briefly the advantages these values can bring? So I can make a choice for my application, also considering server strength. I am also a bit unsure of the advantages of "numprocs", for example : <Distribute numprocs="11">app</Distribute>By default, the values in my Application.xml files had<Scope></Scope>   and<Distribute numprocs="3">inst</Distribute> I started using<Scope>vhost</Scope> <Distribute numprocs="11">app</Distribute>because it seemed better, but I'd like some easy clarifications Thanks!

I have a single server that runs IIS and FMS, both on port 80.  The server has two internal IPs assigned to it, one for IIS and the other for FMS.  I also have two static public IPs.  My router maps one public IP to IIS' internal IP and likewise for FMS.IIS works fine.  Using an online port scanner, I was able to determine that port 80 is responsive for both public IPs.  Before I had configured my Adapter.xml and fms.ini, only IIS' public IP was responsive.  This seems to indicate that FMS is fine.However, when my ActionScript creates a NetConnection and calls connect(), my netStatus callback takes about half a minute to be invoked, and I get "NetConnection.Connect.Failed".  Which is not very informative.  Is there a way to get more info about the cause of the error?  Also does anyone have suggestions for how to debug this issue?

Ok, it has gone a while since ive created a AWS account for to get hold of FMSE services....but i have a big and probably dumb question, how do i set up a instance at AWS ?I am particulary interested in Netgroup in FMS. Ive searched like a maniac and read  like librarian but ive found no info that makes it clear for me how o i setup a server instance and how i connect my AIR app to it so i can use NetGroups...Any help, any guidance that is easy to understand is higly appreciated!!!!!Really need help on this one!Thanx in advance

I'm using FMS 3.5 using a standard FMS instance as set up by Influxis to do straightforward recordings of FLV's (not F4V's) of user webcam video of only 10 seconds in length using netStream.publish(). Everything works fine on Windows, but on the Mac, on any browser, the recorded video will pause unpredictably for 2 to 10 or more seconds after a second or two. It's not an issue with the streaming on playback, as I've downloaded the FLV's off the FMS server and they do in fact have the pauses in the videos, almost as if the video is malformed (in VLC, the playhead will stop for the duration of the pause, and then skip ahead once the real video content resumes).Even more strangely, the information coming back from onMetadata gives me the length of the video including the mysterious pause/s.Has anyone seen this type of behavior -- on the Mac only? Any ideas or help on this would be greatly appreciated, as I'm pretty stumped. Lee Felarca

Hi, just wondering if it was possible to relay one stream to another server? Example:Streamer streams to server 1 -- server 1 relays to server 2 -- so that the streamer only has to stream to one server while it is being "relayed" to multiple servers.Thanks

Hi GuysIm currently working on a small project with streaming video on demand and using FMS 4.0 (and a complete noob in FMS).The video’s is located on another server than the FMS. But I have mapped the server to a drive on my FMS server, \\192.168.1.10\data\media\mov\ => R:  And in the fms.ini file change vod_dir = R:\The FMS service is logging on as Administrator, but I still can’t play the videos.If I change vod_dir to a local folder ( c:\data\media\mov\ ) on my FMS server it play the movie fine, any idea why this doesn’t work?FYI: I'm using rtmp and both servers is running win2008 R2Any input is greatly appreciatedBest reagrdsShimshim

We started broadcasting HQ video from our server via a multicast. Everything works fine if the number of viewer does not exceed about 600-700. But once the number starts to grow and reaches up to 1000 viewers - it become impossible to watch the stream because of the numerous loss of frames. The picture breaks up, there are decoding artifacts, etc. Can you please tell me how to configure the server to deliver content to 1,5-2k users?

Hi,I hope there is answer to my dilemma from server side stand point.I have a video asset that is streamed from rtmp. Say, url is: rtmp://blah.domain.com/directory/anotherone/asset.flvI need to invoke BitmapData.draw() on this asset.There is crossdomain.xml file on http://blah.domain.com/crossdomain.xml that allows all the domains.When is instantiate stream I write:stream.checkPolicyFile  = true;Also I load crossdomain from http://blah.domain.com/crossdomain.xml and rtmp://blah.domain.com/crossdomain.xmlI tried all the combination of the above.In all the cases when I try BitmapData.draw() - I am getting:cannot access rtmp://blah.domain.com/directory/anotherone/. No policy files granted access.         at flash.display::BitmapData/draw()So, does it mean that each final folder has to have it's own crossdomain.xml? Even though the root directory has one?Also, it feels that requesting crossdomain.xml from rtmp would be odd.Is there way around it

The problem is a weird problem, because I can connect to the application through an RTMP test site, Adobe Flash Server reconginzes the connection and allows it. But when I try to connect from the flash applet (It's called Videowhisper), the connection doesn't go through. I was wondering if anyone knew what the problem is? I host Joomla (open source networking site) on a WAMP server, and Adobe Flash Server on the same machine. Adobe Flash Server is acception connections, just not from Joomla, for some reason.The site is http://connect.chatrow.com and the flash server is rtmp://24.190.3.171/videowhisperThank you for any assistance.

Im having trouble getting the FM Administrative Console to connect to my AWS FMS. I have an instance running and can view the default page and samples. I opened ports 1111 and 1935 and have also modified the fms.ini file to include a user name and password. Restarted the FMS as well. Any help in getting this set up would be appreciated.Thanks.
