We just made an upgrade from FMS2 to FMS3 and the videos have stopped streaming. The connection to the FMS server is good, but I'm getting an error now that I can't find the video stream? Nothing has changed but the FMS server upgrade. Is there a common issue when upgrading that I don't know about? I have a test video sitting in the _definist_ folder for testing and my as3 code looks like this: connection = new NetConnection(); connection.client = this; connection.addEventListener(NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS, netStatusHandler); connection.addEventListener(SecurityErrorEvent.SECURITY_ERROR, securityErrorHandler); connection.addEventListener(AsyncErrorEvent.ASYNC_ERROR, asyncErrorHandler); connection.connect(targetURI); function netStatusHandler(event:NetStatusEvent):void){ switch (event.info.code) { case "NetConnection.Connect.Success" : streamVideo(); break; } function streamVideo(){ ns = new NetStream(connection); ns.client = myClient; ns.addEventListener(NetStatusEvent.NET_S
I'm using addNotifyAction in an Auth plugin to trigger a function in the AS application code. As shown in the samples, I'm passing an FmsVariant variable to addParam to add a string value to the argument list. Apparently, if I pass a string longer than 32 characters, it somewhere gets corrupted. If I log its value through "trace" from the AS code, I often get random garbage, sometimes including part of the orginal value and/or part of other strings that don't belong there. If I use a shorter string, everything works fine. I reproduced the same problem using the original AuthModule.cpp sample code, to which I just added the following code (in MyFmsNotifyEvent::notify): FmsVariant field; if (m_pAev->getField(IFmsAuthEvent::F_CLIENT_ID, field) == IFmsAuthEvent::S_SUCCESS) { IFmsNotifyAction* pAction = m_pAev->addNotifyAction("Notified by adaptor"); pAction->setClientId(field); field.setString("myfunc"); pAction->setMethodName(field); field.setString("0123456789012345
How exactly would one go about creating an online video editing service with flash??? Like these: eyespot motionbox jumpcut onetruemedia Actually what I need is a lot more basic than these - just the user being able to choose start and end points for their uploaded video and then sending it back to the server. Many thanks
Hi, I just start with server-side embedded checkBandwidth function. I wonder is there any description of arguments and return values of onBWCheck and onBWDone. Seems like onBWCheck return something, but does it matter what it returns? I wonder why there is no documentation published, since this is built-in future. Also not clear what onBWDone arguments are. It has four arguments. With analogue with 'Script-based bandwidth detection' it return download bandwidth, but what about upload bvandwidth? van it also be detected? Thanks
how do I enable the bandtwith detection? I have the 3 sample mp4 files (300k, 800k and 1500k) my player I can direct to a file (for example rtmp://server:443/vod/AdobeBand_1500K_H264.mp4) but how does the server now uses the bandtwith detection? do I need to direct it to an flv file? and how should I build this file correctly?
I found the settings where you can specify the restarting stuff for the Encoder, I was wondering about days, hours, minutes... does this mean #of days along with a specific time? If I put in 4 for hours, would that be at 4am? Do I need all these settings or are they exclusive with each other meaning I would only need days if I wanted days. Also, I'm assuming these settings just go into the XML profile for each session?
Hi, we are thinking of hosting our own streaming server and wondered about what operating system to select. The Windows option is clear, but what about Red Hat? Can Fedora 8 work also? Red Hat 4 (RHEL4 I guess..) is supported, but I observe that Red Hat 5 (RHEL5) has been released. Will it work on that OS? Regards, Frode
Hopefully someone is able to help figure this out because it no longer makes sense to me.. Context - Flash Media Server 3 / W2K3 / 2x Quad Xeon / 4G Ram. - Content on Clustered W2K3 filers connected to SAN - Flash connects using AD service account - full control on fms dirs. - Serving pre-recorded vod content - flash apps (whiteboard) - custom app (allows user to record/upload video) LIVE_DIR = \\filer-media\media$\fms\applications\live VOD_DIR = \\filer-media\media$\fms\applications\vod\media VHOST.APPSDIR = \\filer-media\media$\fms\applications APP.JS_SCRIPTLIBPATH = \\filer-media\media$\fms\scriptlib Here's what's causing my confusion.... when i have the above config - neither the vod or the upload works. If i comment out the vod, the upload works, files show up in the live dir - but obviously vod doesn't work. If i comment out the appsdir (uncomment vod)- the uploads stop working, but the vod works again. Anyone know why I would be getting this behaviour? when i run fmschec
I would like to build an AIR client that enables selection of images and sound from the client machine with a resulting FLV file as output. Can this be done easily without having the flash media server ? P.S. Will the AIR client ever be able to record both the video and the sound, on the local machine without having to do so over the nexwork ?
I set up a html page with a Flash streaming server. When I play the FLV movies on the html page, it plays well. However, when I play the movies on the roadrunner at home, it has 20 seconds buffering, and then it plays after 20 seconds. Please let me know what causes the problem. It makes me real crazy. Here is the link. http://www.pde.rpi.edu/Test/FlashFLV/lightwindow/index.html Thanks for your consideration.
Hi, We are planning an audio-only live event in a few months (end of November) and are building the player now. An issue that has come up is how to tell when the movie has actually stopped, ie: when I disconnect the flash media encoder. Is this possible with live events? All I get is "buffering". Our backup plan is to check if the movie is "buffering" for a while (say a minute" and then determine that it has stopped.
I'd like to use Flash Media Server for a 2-way one to one audio/video app, but latency is the most important issue. I'd like the stream to be as close to real time as possible. What settings can I tweak to help me do this? I've got a basic app setup right now and the lag seems to be about 1 second.
Hi Everyone, I have FMS3 installed on a windows machine, on the C: drive, and I want to change the location of the applications folder to another partition. The explanation in the Configuration and Administration Guide sounded simple enough: editing three parameters in the fms.ini file: VHOST.APPSDIR, LIVE_DIR, and VOD_DIR. I changed them to point to the new location and restarted the server and everything started fine. When I test to stream video in the vod folder however, it fails. If I do a fmschk: fmscheck --host localhost --app vod --logfile chk.txt, I get this: #Version 1.0.0 r15 #2008-09-26 12:15:27 #Software: Adobe Flash Media Server Check 1.0.0 r15 #2008-09-26 #Fields: date time x-event x-sname 2008-09-26 12:15:27 Connect rtmp://localhost:1935/vod 2008-09-26 12:15:27 NetConnection.Connect.Rejected [ Server.Reject ] : (_defaultRoot_, _defaultVHost_) : Application (vod) is not defined. 2008-09-26 12:15:27 Connection fail - I've checked the Applications.xml file located in
From everything that I have read, FLVPlayback should be able to handle a streamed mp3 file using FMS. Whenever I try to put in my stream source address, rtmp://mydomain/myapp/myfile.mp3, I get an error that says "Unable to make connection to server or to find the FLV on server" I know the FMS is setup correctly because I can stream video FLV files without a problem. Does anyone know how to connect to a streamed mp3 using FLVPlayback?
Hi guys, I have FMS on my server but I have 2 questions on security .. First: How can I make a User & Password request when connecting to the server through FME Second: How Can I allow and deny specific domains from watching the stream Regards ,,,,,
Hi everyone, I need to create a simple flash-based audio recorder that allows users to quickly record a voice message using their mic and have the ability to preview it and then save it on the server for later usage (viewing by other users etc.). Do I need FMS for that or it can be accomplished without it? Please note I do not need live streaming. If I do need FMS, are there any open source (free) applications that already do this and integrate easily with FMS (like a sample webcam capture application, although I only need sound). Thank you all very much!
We connect our FMS3 with our SAN using shared folders, the path to the shared folder is "\\.host\Shared Folders\SAN1\". And we tried to make this shared folder as "Z:" drive, then modified Application.xml as "<Streams>/;Z:\vod</Streams>", but the stream still would not play with error "ConnectionError". we also tried to modify Vhost.xml, still no luck. We configure the SAN permission for FMS to read only, do we need to change it to Read&Write? I am appreciate any possible solutions. Thank you.
Hi I am new to flash media server and I am having problems. I have installed flash media interactive server on my home pc (windows vista ultimate 64bit) I have also installed media server on windows 2003 server which my friend kindly set up for me on his server. I have practised using VOD service on the streaming server using the flv extension; I have used Action Script 3.0 to stream a H.264 video files with various buffer sizes. The videos show up no problem from both windows vista and windows 2003 server, but the problem I am having is that the playback stops and starts and is very choppy. I thought that flash media server was supposed to prevent all of that. I have tried everything I can think of to get the videos to flow smoothly but I can’t seem to figure it out. I am obviously missing something somewhere, as I get the same results from both vista and win 2000 server. So I am looking for some clever guy that knows how to get this thing racing for me. Here is my links for you to
Hello, I have installed the FMS3 on my Debian 4 Etch Server. For installing I used this tutorial: http://muzso.hu/2008/09/10/installing-flash-media-server-3-on-debian + patch I also installed the libnspr4-dev package, but I always get this error: quote: ./fmsmgr server fms start Server:fms command:start NPTL 2.3.6 Starting Adobe Flash Media Server (please check /var/log/messages) Error: Flash Media Server needs the NSPR library installed. So I checked the libs: quote: mail:/opt/adobe/fms# ldd /opt/adobe/fms/fmscore linux-gate.so.1 => (0xffffe000) libpthread.so.0 => /lib32/libpthread.so.0 (0xf7faf000) libnspr4.so => not found libplc4.so => not found libplds4.so => not found libasneu.so.1 => /opt/adobe/fms/libasneu.so.1 (0xf7fa5000) librt.so.1 => /lib32/librt.so.1 (0xf7f9d000) libdl.so.2 => /lib32/libdl.so.2 (0xf7f99000) libstdc++.so.6 => /usr/lib32/libstdc++.so.6 (0xf7eb6000) libm.so.6 => /lib32/libm.so.6 (0xf7e92000) libgcc_s.so.1 =&
I'm new to FMS and we're deploying Flash Media Streaming Server 3. I am a bit confused with regards to developing on this platform as i understand there are some limitations for developing on this platform instead of the Flash Media Interactive Server. I am looking to take the existing sample vod client from the samples/applications/vod directory which includes the dropdown/go button combination and replace it with something more intuitive for the end user, that incorporates an autoplay or even just eliminates the need to press the go button to load the first video. My questions surrounding the limitations are, am i bound to most of the logic in the vodtest.as file or can i refactor that and it will still connect with the VOD service on the box. Or, can i simply just make some small modifications to the script and there are portions that must be left in place. I am left to believe you can, as the library for the .fla file includes many items that are not being used in the applicati
Hi Everybody! I want to show list of FLV files placed on FMS server. do u guys have any sample code for that. Looking forward for reply! thanks.
I'm wondering if it's possible to restream mms, http streams from other servers to flash stream with flash media server solution?
hello i am playing here with fms i want to make a sort of home tv-channel i have created ".swf-tv_set" for the end user wich connects to my server the question is: what techniques should i use (on server-side maybe) to control what type of data (live or vod) is being streamed to the user? i have also created "director's swf" to switch between output data, but how can i switch live/vod in one stream, to which the user is already connected? thank you in advance.
My People, I am in need of some assistance. I am streaming video from a third party server and all is fine and dandy in regards to the streaming file however my video controls "skin" is not appearing on the bottom of the video when it streams so I have no control over the video. My hypothesis is that the company that is streaming my video for me needs the skin's .swf file on their server. Please let me know if i'm in the right direction. Help please. THanks.
Hello Forum! I have the following problem: If I start FME I get this error: "video size or frame rate not supported". It works well with a normal Logitech Webcam, but If I switch to this camera: VRmC-3+ PRO ( Info) I get this error.... The camera has an own software, where I can set up the frame rate and the video size. How can I start streaming with this camera? Tanks!
