Hello, I can't get anyone in sales to answer this question. Specs say any Windows 2003 32bit OS and recommends 4MB RAM. But I would like to put a powerful server dedicated to this function but don't know if this software is capable of Hyperthreading. I can have one or come CPU's all with multiple cores. Likewise I could install Windows 2003 Enterprise Server and put in a lot more memory. Obviously I don't want to throw money into processors, Enterprise OS or more RAM if this software won't take advantage of it. Any help? Thank you? Text
I would like to stream live AAC to the Internet via Flash. I have been told the new version of FMS (FMS3) will support it. But, I have yet to find a live encoder! Flash Media Encoder 2 only supports MP3 and NellyMoser audio. I will have linear PCM audio coming in via an audio card and I want an encoder that will encode it live into AAC and get it to a FMS server. I have yet to find anything. Help!
Hi, We experience an old problem...Remember instances hanging? For us, it was worst in 2.0.2 and 2.0.3 if I remember correctly. Is there anyone that had the same problems with FMS 3.0.0? Thanks
I have downloaded the Linux development version of the flash media server version 3.0. Video streaming works fine. I want to write a C/C++ access plugin to control accessing the video streams. I changed adaptor.cpp that comes in the samples directory. I modified the onAccess method to always execute pAccess->reject(). After compiling libconnect.so, I put this file in /opt/adobe/fms/modules/access. I stop and restart the server. I would expect I cannot stream the videos. However, I can still stream them with the access plugin enabled. There is no error in the log. What have I done wrong?
Hi Everyone, I was hoping to install the developer edition of FMS 3 today. I've installed the developer edition of FMS 2 a while back and since then a virus has deleted some files - including the uninstaller for FMS 2. In order for me to install FMS 3, I need to uninstall FMS 2 but I cant uninstall it completely without the uninstaller. Does anyone know where I can find FMS 2 to download again, so that I can re-install or repair it, and then uninstall it before installing FMS 3? I've seached Adobe's site, but cant find it anywhere. Thanks for your help, Ryan
hya ive installed flash media server to run video and audio in my chatroom but i cant get fms to connect ive put the right user name pass etc can anyone help ty janxxx
Hello, Maybe somebody here has encountered the problem where the Admin console cannot connect to the 'server1' server? Trying to log in to localhost fails. I even tried to reinstall FMS, didn't help. When I just first installed the whole thing yesterday I had a green light, but then I broke someting apparently. I checked fms.ini and the port is 1111 for admin. Any ideas? Thanks in advance, Ari Telias
Dear all, when in the player application buffertime is set to zero, the memory usage of iexplore.exe or firefox.exe (browser independent) keeps growing to infinity. as soon as I set buffertime to 0.001, the memory is freed. But, since I am developing a realtime live stream, this is no option, since the bufferlength is 0.2 secs minimum when buffertime is not set to 0, which is too much. any suggestions on how to get rid of the memory leak? thanks peter
Have you seen the HD gallery in action ( http://www.adobe.com/products/hdvideo/hdgallery/). I liked a lot and I would like if any expert can Deconstructing the HD video gallery application. Is a good way to learn with Flash Media Server 3, because this application is on H.264 that's a good way to deliver video on Internet Thanks a lot from Spain.
Hello, I work with a university making language learning CDs in Flash CS3 which are often used in locations where there is no internet access. I have the impression from my readings that audio can only be recorded for playback using the FMS and not locally. Is this accurate? We would like to allow students with no internet access to play back recordings they have just made of their attempts to say their new words. Any advice? Thanks for reading! David Martin
Hi, is there a change between FMS2 and FMIS3 in stram.play() ? I need to publish a stream from the server which has been recorded with FMS just before. When I play back this stream on the client, it runs much too fast and pauses from time to time to reload the next video data and then runs full speed to the next pause. I tried setting bandwidth limits with no effect. I tried different fps settings when recording with no effect. I tried different fps settings when playing back with no effect. On FMS2 this worked nicely. (No, I can't switch back.) I suspect the problem to be some server side buffering or so, but I can't find a solution. Can anybody else ? Maybe some pointers to the server configuration docs ? On the server: myStream = Stream.get( playVideoName ); myStream.play( "streamnametoplay", 0 ); On the client: ns = new NetStream( netConn ); video.attachNetStream( ns ); ns.play( 'streamnametoplay' ); Thanks for any hints
Hi all, not sure where to ask this, I hope someone can give me some insight. When I go to a website that allows me to stream audio and video from my webcam - it pops up the flash dialogue box to ask my permission....that's fine - then I choose to route my soundcard's input to the stream instead of my webcam microphone and it works - but for some reason, it rolls off the high frequencies, and it sounds muddy and not clean and tight. With music, all the hi-hats are gone, and all the sizzle is missing, not great! I have been trying hard to find any info about HOW flash grabs the audio, or where I can change the settings as to how it interfaces with the incoming audio, but I can't find anything anywhere. The only settings seem to be: line-in, and level - that's it. No other audio controls of any sort... ...in testing - I tried listening to other people's streams on the same site, and they have clear audio! I can directly A/B between mine and others and mine is DEFINITELY filtered down..
Hello: I have a 2-way video client using FMS3(hosted) in between. I want to know that if I optimize what I can uplink from user A, then will FMS3 automatically buffer the stream if user B's downlink can't handle a faster uplink speed from user A? Likewise, if user A's uplink speed is less than user B's downlink speed, does FMS3 do anything to keep user B's video from being very choppy and where user might see frozen frames due to frames not being sent fast enough? If FMS3 doesn't handle this out of the box, then is this a server side script that needs to be written to handle this? Thanks, Dan
I have posted a message about logging earlier. Can anyone tell me how logging is done in FMS3? Why are the entries for a single instance broken into multiple play-stop-play-stop entries? I am talking about just one file streamed only once. Please help. Thanks, Shan.
Hello, i want know if is possible to record a web cam and make a incrustation of a image (jpg for exemple) on the record's web cam?
Flash media encoder 2 only encodes to the on2v6 video standard. Has anyone attempted live streaming of h.264? If so, what worked (or didn't)? Any lessons learned would be appreciated. Thanks!
I was under the impression that FMS gave priority to audio over video. In a recent app that I built, it works fine most of the time, but on a few tests I have noticed that the audio can cut out. It doesn't unsync or anything, it just cuts out and stops working for brief periods of time. I'm just wondering if anyone else has come across this and if so, did you find a solution?
I just installed FMS 3 development software on a Dell poweredge server running Windows Server 2003 software. When i try to open (fms_adminConsole.htm) I get this warning from Windows Internet Explorer: Your security settings do not allow websites to use ActiveX controls installed on your computer. This page may not display correctly. I have enabled most of the security settings in windows and it still will not open. Any suggestions? Thanks Tim O'Phelan
I am streaming audio via the NetStream object to FMS. When I inspect the resulting .flv file on the server I found it was time skewed quite a bit. The original recording was exactly (up to half a second) one minute, but the resulting flv has a duration of 67 secounds, thats more than 10%! The skewness seem to depend on the sampling frequency I specify in the Microphone object on the client... Has anybody encountered this issue? My initial guess is that there is some configuration to be done on FMS or code rewritten on the client. Best /John
Hi, I'd installed the Flash Media Dev Server, but it just could not start. I checked my server spec, and it is P4 3.0Ghz (vs 3.2Ghz min) and 1G RAM (vs 2G min). Is that the reason why the application would NOT start? I just want to make sure before forking out more $ to upgrade it to 2.16Ghz dual core and 4G RAM. By the way, any advise what server spec (if you already have the experience) would work best on flash media server. Appreciate it. Thanks
I learned from Adobe website that FLASH LIGHT 3.0 supports flash video through HTTP and RTSP not RTMP. While In FMS 3.0 datasheet, it claims support of video streaming to FLASH LIGHT 3.0 but I also know that FMS 3.0 does not support RTSP. This leaves only HTTP progressive download from FMS 3.0 to FLASH LIGHT 3.0 devices while Adobe usually prefers not to call HTTP download a valid streaming service. Would some one please clarify how FMS 3.0 support streaming video to FLASH LIGHT 3.0 devices? Thanks so much!
I'm looking for a way to log VOD and live streams, preferably with a CLF style syntax. Specifically I'd like to log the content path (directories under the root and the filename), the remote IP, timestamp and server-to-client bytes. I'm unable to extract this info from the default logging setup. This is critical to the acceptance of FMS in our organisation, as we need extensive accounting information.
We have Flash Media Server configured with HTTP tunneling. It works perfectly from multiple locations; the only problem is that from one specific client location it doesn't work--rather than failing, the connection just sits "loading" forever without ever connecting or being rejected. Has anyone seen anything like this before? Any ideas what may be causing this?
Hi all, We have got the following task to do...in our organisation we've got an application that generates xml messages. We want to send these messages to Flash clients connected to an FMS server. In order to do that we want to create a webservice (ASP.NET) on the FMS server and let the application send the xml messages to that webservice. Once a message is received by the webservice we want to dispatch it to an FMS application where it would get parsed and based on the content in the message we want to call methodes (over rtmp) on the connected clients. We have no background on FMS but we thought that it wouldn't be that hard to figure out. By the looks of it it seems almost trivial if you had to do it in Java or .Net. Not so in the world of FMS it seems. The major question we have got is: How do we feed the xml message received by the webservice to an FMS application...or (another solution) how do we notify an FMS application that a new message was received by the webservice. The G
Hello. I'm migrating a flash application writen with AS2 and working fine to AS3. The flash connects to a Flash Media Server 3 but I don't think it was the problem. I'm in a problem that I can't resolve and I don't get more information about it. The code I want to migrate writen is: server-side: application.users_so.send("msgFromServer", "messageTXT"); client-side ( AS2): users_so=SharedObject.getRemote("users_so",connection.uri,false); users_so.connect(connection); users.so.msgFromServer = function (msg) { trace(msg);}; But... how can I do that with AS3? That line users.so.msgFromServer = function (msg) { trace(msg);}; works perfectly using AS2 but no with AS3. I get the run-time error #2095 was unable to invoke callback. I can't find information about resolve this with AS3 code. Please, can anyone help me?. Thansk!
