This is driving me nuts. I cannot connect to the FMS 3 server from a remote webpage. For example: I used Dreamweaver's size detection function when I insert a Flash Video object, but it never connects to the server. The server was working, it's a new purchase. I uninstalled and reinstalled couple times while playing around with the remote storage option. Could this have messed up the license key? BTW: it plays locally with the sample that came with it. Please help.
Hi, We're setting up an FMS3-based video streaming system for a new website, and have built a player using AS2 (for compatibility with Flash Player v8) and the FLVPlayback componenent which uses FMS3's new native bandwidth checking to provide us with a figure with which we can work out which of 3 streams to play and how long to buffer before playback. The initial NetConnection connection happens pretty much instantly and we get the numbers we're looking for, but it then takes about another 30 seconds before the FLVPlayback component connects to the server and begins to stream the video. There doesn't seem to be anything in the logic of the player to cause this, and when we test on a local deployment of FMS3 we don't get the problem. Furthermore, we had this player working nicely with FMS2 on the remote server until recently, when we upgraded during our development stage. We think the key must be in the errors we get in the FMS server log: quote: Mon 09:30:33 AM: Connect : rtmp://Ou
Hi there, I've got a question about Flash Media Interactive Server 3. We'll be using this server for the streaming of MP3's. I want to know if there is a way to enforce a bitrate for streaming. For example: no matter in which bitrate the MP3 is encoded, I always want to stream it in 192 kbps. This is very, very important since we're an organisation with an extensive collection of, currently, 6TB of digital media. We're currently digitalizing our entire catalogue which will result in approx 40TB of digital media. ALL this media will be streamable so we need a way to throttle bandwith. (our collection consists of ALL records that have been released in the Netherlands in the last 35 years..) Can someone enlighten me about this subject? Regards, Nico Beemster CDR
I am testing out FMS3 (from FMS2) for linux, and while I'm enjoying some of the new features I'm running into a problem I can't track down... For my FMS2 setup in conf/Server.xml I set the Mask node to 022 so FMS created new files under those permissions, that worked great. But I can't get the FMS3 install to recognize anything I set for the mask, so the new files are ALWAYS defaulting to 077, regardless of what's in conf/Server.xml (and from the documentation, it looks like the default is supposed to be 017 anyway). Any ideas? Thanks!
Hello everybody! I used FMS 2 + Action Script2 for developing my application on window and it worked well. My application is Client-Server system, and video chatting using webcam. I want to move that application to Linux, and i have succeeded in localhost. I would like to connect from client to the linux server including my application, but it failed. Do i have to make change anything such as: Server.xml, fms.ini...? Best regard ngantrinh
Hi, My name is Charley Shin. I use FMS2 dev. version to streming Flash Videos for test. But it doesn't stable. 1. When I want to play a next video, the swf load continuously. Then I click stop button and play again. This work properly. I check that FMS2 connection is lost when the swf is loading continuously. I guess because of FMS2 setting about wait time or connection time. So, I change "CoreGC" to 600(10 minutes). But this is not solution. My source code is bellows. And I use "SteelExternalAll.swf" for skin. The "Buttfer Time" set to "0.1". ------------------- start -------------------------- videos.loop = false; videos.length = 1; videos.loaded = false; // Path to FLVPlayback components var m = this.my_video; // Set the path of the first video feed m.contentPath = videos.list[0]; // Set a 'ready' event handler to load the videos videos.ready = function( evt:Object ):Void { if(!this.loaded){ this.loaded = true; for( var n=1; n<this.list.length; n++ ){ if( videos.li
Often when a client connected with fms3 loses his internet connection ( because internet shutdown ) , the client remains connected with fms3. This happens because the status of the client is in playng or in publishing. Also if I use application.disconnect(client)" , the client won't be disconnected and it returns to me as a true value.(And that's strange because the value should be false) How can I do to solve this problem?
We are looking for a simple solution that enables a 2-way video call between a SIP client and a browser-based Flash client (which grabs the webcam). Does anyone have any ideas as to where we should look? Does anyone want to build this for us for a fee? Help appreciated - this is an immediate requirement so let me know if you'd like more details around this.
Hi all, i manage fms2 server with 2 adaptors and multiple vhost per adaptor and i'd like to limit each vhost bandwidth. I set Bandwidth tag values on Application.xml and BandwidthCap tag value too, but clients that connects to any Vhost override theese vaues (even if i put override="no"in both bandwidth and bandwisthCap). How can i solve the problema and force any Vhost to use the limit a set? Thanks
hi, i develop in flash 8 (AS2) a car game where i run a race with 1 car. i want to transform this game into multiplaeyr with media server, can someone give me an idea on what do i need to do ?? thanks. any help will be glad
Hi all, I'm setting up a FMS server in a Windows 2003 R2 operating system. The server is installed on the system and seems to work fine (in a developpement envirronement). The goal of this server will be to create a video file from a user's webcam, the video will be stored on a NFS Share. My problem is : remote shares are attached to users' sessions in Windows, how i'll be able to map a NFS drive for NFS? Is it possible for NFS to connect to a share over a SYSTEM account or should i leave a ghost session on my system with the drive mapped and run FMS with the "ghost user" ? All propositions will be welcome ! Best Regards Mathieu D.
I have stored some wav files onto my file server. Now I want to stream those files in flash player using flash media server. Please advice.
We're looking at purchasing a Flash server. Can the Flash Media Streaming Server archive live streamed audio and video? Or is that only a feature of the Flash Interactive Media Server?
Hi, I need to setup currently only 2 FMS servers. I want used both (in future more FMS) like "origin servers" It will be used for 1 application (chat and videochat application) with hundreds clients, so I need same objects, SharedObjects a list of clients at each FMS server. Is it possible or I will have to use edge+origin? Thanks. Leoš
Playing a 1 fps flv with the vod application starts to play fine (shows fine on the vodtest player). But watching the server adminisrtator shows the outbound stream as "idle." 60 second later the stream times out and closes. Play a stream with higher fps and the outbound stream shows that it is playing and doesn't timeout. So the question is where is the threshold set that determines when a stream is considered idle and where is the timeout period for an idle stream set? Plenty of settting for idle clients but I can't find anything for idle streams. Maybe I am just misssing it.
I have just set up FMS on Windows XP It seems to work fine since I can connect to it through the admin interface! Now the problem is when I try to connect to a application I can only do this through the admin port! so rtmp://localhost:1111/application works but rtmp://localhost:1935/application or rtmp://localhost/application does not! It also seems that when connected through port 1111 the application can't execute the way it should be! When testing the sample_snapshot application and I try to record something it automatically disconnects, and won't store anything! Thanks for the help!!! chris
Hi Guys, I'm testing an application I've created. It's basically a 2-way A/V chat, with a text chat application on there as well. Each user publishes a live stream, which is recorded on the server and then resent back down to the other user. I've been testing it locally and everything is fine, so I signed up to Influxis on their Nitrous plan to give it a test run over the Internet. Each stream is publishing a 32Kbps video + 8Kbps audio stream. Each user has a fast broadband connection, with around a 140 ping to the server. Over time, around 10 minutes or so, the live streams get quite far out of sync. It can take over 20 seconds for the stream to reach the other person, making a "live" chat quite useless. If I stop and start the streams again, it brings everything back into line, so I'm considering this as a potential resolution. I'd really like to know why this sort of thing occurs, how I can minimise it, and how to recover from it when it does happen. Any help would be apprec
We are building a community based video site in flash where users can upload video files in all formats. Is it possible to upload and encode videos to flv on the Flash Media Server with the Flash Media Encoder? Or do we need something else for that?
Hi, I'm almost wanting to purchase a plan through Influxis.com, but while searching for reviews and other sites who use Influxis, I found it hard to come up with any results. For example, I know a lot of companies who use BrightCove and I can also find people by searching through Google who use the service. I'm just trying to find other sites who use the Influxis service so I can compare and see what it looks like before I buy it, and also find some reviews on it. As of now, Influxis offers very good pricing for it's plans. Any help?
So here's the situation. I'm trying to create a flash movie that has a two buttons and a loader component. One button will pull a video from one streaming source and load it using the loader, the other will pull from another streaming source and load it using the same loader. When I click button 1 the stream loads up fine and in my FMS Admin console, I see the number of clients increase by 1. When I click button 2, the steam loads up and the total client increase again. So basically, everytime I click the button, the number of clients increases even if I load the same stream over and over again. This will continue until I close the movie or the server limit is reached (I am currently using the development version of FMS). My code is pretty simple. It's as follows: btn1.onPress = function() { loader1.unload(); loader1.load("url1"); } btn2.onPress = function() { loader1.unload(); loader1.load("url2"); } The issue here is that I can't get it to properly unload the movie so the co
I'm trying to set up a live stream that's viewable on my website. I have two machines behind a router with one being the webserver running FMS (windows 2003) and the other being the encoding machine running FME (windows XP). When I set up FME, I put in the following as the url to the server "rtmp:// computernamewebserver/live/" with the session name being "test". This has no problems connecting to FMS . On the webserver/FMS, I created a *.swf file which basically contains just a flvplayback object with the URL set to "rtmp:// computernamewebserver/live/test". Now after I publish this, I can view the video via the published html file from within the network, but when I try outside of the network, it doesn't work and I get no error messages so it's hard to debug. I have port 80 forwarded to my webserver/FMS machine. I tried forwarding port 1935 to both my webserver/FMS machine and the FME machine with no success. I've tried playing around with the rtmp URL by changing the computerna
I am looking for a way to remotely monitor a Flash Media Server, to make sure that it is streaming properly. I would like to make this part of our Nagios server if possible. Any sugguestions or code to look at to create a plugin?
Do anyone know if there is any concern if I install FMS3 and MS SQL 2005 on the same server. many thanks for any advise.
Do any one know can a FMS 3 run smoothly on a vmware virtual machine? if yes, is there any requirement need to be aware? thanks for any adivse.
We woud like to host a live video stream on our website of an event at a remote site. My question is if I can use FMS3.0 to do this, and if I have to get anything else other than what is "in the box". I know I have to have another computer at the remote site, and encode and send the signal to what will be our streaming server. But do I have to have more software? I was asked to see about making this happen, but I do not know too much about video streaming. Any advice would be appreciated.
