Our client is moving thier flv files from there old server to host with us. All the videos work on thier server. Most of them work and get streamed just fine from our flash media server. Except for the ones they downloaded from youtube. It won't play the ones from youtube. An flv is an flv right? What could youtube do to it?
Along with the announcement of including H264 in FMS3 and Flash Player, it was mentioned an updated version of FME will also include H264. Will there be any other changes that you can tell us about for FME? There were lots of great suggestions in the forums here several months ago... including several by us. It would be very helpful to know if any of them will make it into the upcoming release.... Thanks and keep up the great work!
I have a video player that will connect but doesn't show the video. The player works fine locally but when I try it online it connects but does not play the video. Here is my code: var rtmpNow:String = "rtmp://IP ADDRESS/media"; var nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection(); nc.onStatus = function(info) { if (info.code == "NetConnection.Connect.Success") { info_txt.text = "Connected"; } else { info_txt.text = "No Connection"; } }; nc.connect(rtmpNow); var ns:NetStream = new NetStream(nc); vid_video.attachVideo(ns); ns.play("video1"); * I didn't include the IP ADDRESS because, right now, we don't leave that server on all the time. Can anyone help?
Hi, I try to enable RTMPS on my FMS (Running under Windows Server 2003). I would like to know if i need to install openssl on the server or it's only required for the certificate generation? I can access the server, but a need to ask the network administrator to install new application. If I could generate the ssl on antoher computer it's can be a better way for me. Or if I can use IIS to generate the certificate request and add to FMS after that? By the way I try to find a kind of tutorial tu configure RTMPS on FMS. If anyone know how-it, it will be appreciated. J-F Sorry for my poor englsih.

Hi, I've been searching everywhere but I hope someone here can help, I'm setting up a web cam (Surf cam actually) at a remote location with a network camera, as in it connects directly to the internet and streams mjpeg & mpeg 4 streams, because of the limited uplink bandwidth available (Quality drops considerably with more than 5 simultaneous connections), I need to somehow transcode the footage to FLV and stream it with FMS or Red5 so that up to 50 or so users can view it without affecting the stream quality. Can anyone give me some insight into how this can be done? I've tried FFMPEG --> FFSERVER --> FLV but the output FLV stream can't be played because it has no meta data or timecode, and I can't see any way of injecting meta data into a live stream. Thanks, Ivan
I've been stuck for about 2 weeks now and would like to be able to sleep normal hours some day .... if someone could give me a hand, I'd really really really apprecate it! I'm trying to setup a basic voice chat system using Media Server 2 and Flex2. The voice works but only for about 15 seconds then the server closes the voice stream subscriptions. I've tried to capture every error under the sun, but nothing shows. The code uses a server call back to tell other clients to subscribe to a newly published stream. Output tracing shows it works and it IS possible to talk.. for a little while. Then it all goes dead. The management consule shows the listening streams disappearring. Reloading the app, it works again for 10 seconds to a minute. Is there something obviously wrong in my code? I don't know if there is some sort of 'timeout' or perhaps I need to ping to keep the connection alive? Any ideas where to start looking? private var ui:UIComponent; //global var in the class private
Hi, I'm migrating a chat application I develped in AS2 to As3 (flash cs3). I can not find how to call a client function from the server. In AS2 I used: myNetConnection.myClientFunction = function() { //do something } I have tried adding an eventlistener but it doesnt work. Any ideas? thanks
We've installed FMS2 and posted a high quality video. Everything looks great on high speed connections, but lower bandwidth connections have really chopping, stop and start video quality. How can we control the quality of the outgoing video stream? I thought that FMS would control this as part of the streaming process?
Hello. I can record my webcam and generate an FLV file on the server. But, depending on my bandwidth, the resulting FLV has more or less keyframes. I need my FLV to have at least 2 keyframes every 1 second. I need the keyframes IN the FLV file, not while streaming, because I need the FLV to be downloaded via HTTP. Is there a way to force the number of keyframes to be generated when recording? regardless of those keyframes the client is sending, thus regardless bandwidth? Alternatively. Is there a way to generate keyframes after saving the file? I tried changing this value on the Application.xml file: [KeyFrameInterval]500[/KeyFrameInterval]. Then I restarted the server. But I didn't seem to work. Actually I'm not sure if I need to place this Aplication.xml inside my application folder or not. Thanks in advance, JulianG
Hi, It is a very basic question, but i don't know why i am stuck, i tried a lot and google, but no use, the simple error but don't know why i am getting it. OK, the problem is that i purchased FMS hsoting from streamedia.info, they gave me an account now i am new to this, there are couple of FLV i want to stream. I first downloaded and installed FMS 2.0.3 into my local computer, after installation i created a folder into the Applications directory, with the name test, i simple copied my FLV files into it and thats it with the FMS. After this i made a simple FLA using Flash Pro 8, and just simply clicked on import Video, there i entered this: rtmp://127.0.0.1/test/video.flv After clicking next and selecting skin, it starts searching for file and after taking a while it gives me an error of FLV NOT FOUND. I tried so many times with applying different settings, and googled a lot but no use. Can some body please help me and point me what i am doing wrong here?? Any help & commen
Hi all, I've created a flash program which can connect to the flash media server locally, but what i want is to be able to connect to the FMS via LAN or even internet, for example computer1 will have FMS installed and the correct application file, and computer2 on LAN or internet, can connect to the FMS on computer1. right now i;ve tried using the ip address, like: client_nc.connect("rtmp://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/prototype"); but doesn't work for the remote computer, can anyone help me please? Thanks.
Hi all, i just got windows vista home premiun and install the fms 2.0.4 but it doesnt start, i try the option "run as administrator" in the star flash media button, but it fails to run. The cmd prompt displays but for a very short time, can it be that he is not executing ?? plx helppp :s
I am going to dedicate a server to FMS. I plan to have as many as 10,000 connections. Does FMS in linux take advantage of dual processors? Memory? Disk Space? I won't have sophisticated applications nor am I doing media streaming. This is purely for socket/shared object use. I'd liek to know if 4GB of memory helps over 2GB. Is a large amoutn of disk space required and does dual processors help. Also, from what I understand, I only need ports 1935 and 80 open correct? Thanks!
Hello, I got some live audio streams encoded using Windows Media Server (MMS streams). I whant to use FMS2 to redistribute theses streams to flash clients. Is there a way to live encode MMS stream and to load them in FMS (like with Flash Media Encoder) ? Thanks, Guillaume
Hiya, I have created my persistent remote shared object, I can see the fso file created in my the server, and my string is on it. But for some reason it just doesn't like loading up... If I use getLocal if works fine... Maybe one of you have a fresh pair of eyes!? If you can, please give us a hand. Cheers // 1 - connecting, and storing one string in my remote shared object ---- var my_nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection(); my_nc.connect("rtmp://myDomain"); var my_so:Object = new Object(); my_so = SharedObject.getRemote("testSo", my_nc.uri, true); my_so.connect(my_nc); my_so.data.aString = "a testing string"; /// making sure it's saved. my_so.data.aString.flush(); // or: my_so.data.flush(); - both gave the same result //I can see it fine now trace(my_so.data.aString); // 2 - connecting, and TRYING to load my string from my_so ---- var my_nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection(); my_nc.connect("rtmp://myDomain"); var my_so:Object = new Object(); my_so = SharedObject.getRemote
When I call NetStream.play() on an existing audio stream, it will start playing the audio. Is there any way I can detect the actual sound intensity the way you'd do with a Microphone object, for example? I can connect to the stream, but I can't know if there's actual sound coming out of it, and even worse, I don't even know if there's a way to know if the stream is actually valid. NetStream.play returns no value...
If I have 10 users attached, and all are connected through three separate shared objects, is that 10 connections or 30?

hi! I need to strem a video from a camera using Flash Communication Server, i can do that? how?
For a video conference application, how to feed the live H.263/H.264/G.711 A/V streams to FMS2 and thus broadcast live conference through FMS2? Any existing solutions available to refer? Looks like we have to trans-code the A/V streams into flash video .flv format and feed the .flv stream to FMS2. If this is not feasible, we will have to use Apple's Darwin server to stream live mpeg4 streams. Thanks for the help. Regards,
Has anyone ever encounter FMS disconnection when having users on satellite by Internet ? Thanks
I have a large video (1 hour 17min) that is streaming like a dream. However, if you seek ahead the video begins but the audio never seems to catch up. Is there a solution to enable seeking with audio in a streamed flash flv?
I need to buffer a large amount of (non-live) streaming content in the background while the user is distracted with something else. So far, the only way I've found make the NetStream (or the FLVPlayback control) buffer is to put it in a "play" state. Doing that and setting the bufferTime to a really high value is a partial solution. The problem is, once it either has the specified amount buffered or has the entire thing buffered, it starts playing. But I need it to not start playing until the user is ready for it. But setting it to anything other than the play state, including pausing it, flushes the buffer! (I can see why it might be good for a stop to flush the buffer. A PAUSE should not flush the buffer...) Is there any workaround to this? I've even tried canceling the NetStream.Buffer.Flush event, but of course it's not "cancelable." I'll take any bizarre hack anyone can come up with at this point!
Hi all, I am a newbie to FMS (2). I'll be displaying some data in few systems 24x7 and will be updating data every day few times which should be reflected in the client systems automatically, kind of server push. Any help or reference would be appreciated. Thanks in advance Regards Kishore
