HELLO ALL, I am trying to create a webcam recorder, i would like to know if there is a way of doing this without the use of the flash media server or an online adobe server account. thanks in advance.
Hy Everybody I am new to FMS and I am trying to build small applications like chatting, audio recording etc. I am stuck at the audio recording part. My application is connecting to the netConnecton in both the cases of data and netStream and chatting works fine using data calss but netStram is not saving any audio i.e. flv file in the applications folder... this thing is working in my office system but not in my own system. I have doubts in the licenced versons of the softwares I am using .... in office we have licenced windows xp sp2 --------- mine is pirated office disks if formatted in FAT 32 -------------------- mine is NTFS If any of you ever faced this problem and got solutions then Please suggest me....
Ok guys. I have searched high and low for a solid week and looked through this whole site to find nothing on my issue. I am currently trying to stream video from a webpage. Here is my setup: Server 2003 Flash Media Server 2 (on seperate server by itself) Apache 2.2 PHP I have added the MIME types to apache and have no firewalls that are currently blocking any ports. Both servers are on the same network within my domain. When I look at the page with the video on it, there is nothing but a white space. Not even the controls that are on the .swf file show up. I am making a connection to the FMS because I am getting a connected on the Admin Console and it shows a stream but shows the stream status idle and no bytes being transferred. The file structure I have the flv in is /applications/videostreaming/myflvs/streams/***.flv with the main.asc file in the videostreaming folder. I am using Dreamweaver CS3 to add the stream to the page. Can't decide if it is because of Dreamweaver or the FM
I'm operating a text-based streaming newsfeed. I'm dealing with a client behind a proxy server. The client is connecting on an rtmpt connection on port 80. The initial connection works fine and the client receives news. The connection stays open for a while -- typically for 2 - 5 minutes, but occassionally during off-hours up to 45 minutes. Then the FMS server reports that the connection has closed. Obviously, something is going wrong with the connections through the proxy server. The fact that it works better off-hours makes me think it has something to do with the overall demand on the proxy server. A few questions... The client isn't explicitly closing the connection. So how exactly does the server decide that a client has disconnected? Is there any way to configure the client or server to tolerate the proxy dropping the occassional message? When talking to my clients proxy server admins, what could they adjust to help the problem?
HI, I want to know is FMS 2.0 support rhel5(Redhat Enterprise Linux 5)? I know the system requirement is stated only for rhel3 and rhel4, but can I install FMS 2.0 on rhel5? Will there be a plan to support it? as I really need to install FMS 2.0 on rhel5,
Hello all, I was looking at the licensing description for FMS 2 here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flashmediaserver/productinfo/pricing/#i1 and it says that the developer's edition can be deployed into a production environment. Ummm...is that to say then that if I have an application that requires no more than 10 simultaneous connections, I can deploy this server (as many times as I like) without charge? That is how it reads to me, and I have searched these forums and Adobe's site to see some sort of clarrification, but I have found none. I'd appreciate anyone's insights on this. Thanks in advance.
Can somebody please walk me through creating an application to stream from a webcam? Thanks
We are creating a website where we would like the user to upload 6 JPEGs and an audio file (such as WAV) that the webserver then creates an FLV video file from. This FLV video would slideshow the images and play the audio that was uploaded along with it. I know this is easily accomplished using Flash and Actionscript, but we are looking to create an actual FLV video because we need the ability (on a *server* level) to convert the resulted video into other formats such as MPEG or AVI. Perhaps it is possible on a server level to convert an SWF file with actionscript instructions into an FLV file? Does anyone know of any webserver-level software or way to accomplish the above? Is this a function that is somehow usable through Flash Media Server? Any help is greatly appreciated!
Hi, I'm using this tutorial and everything seems to work ok: I can connect to my FMS2 and I can start the streaming, but nothing is displayed, although the security popup is display and I select the camera. I've tried using a Canon XL1 and a Sony DCR-VX2100E and neither of them work with Flash (they work ok with other capture software). Is there any problem with DV cameras? Thanks, Oriol.
Ok.. I'm a newbie and I just want to try and understand this real quick.... I would use this right... and I would use the free developer addition right ? humor me... or point me in the direction of a tutorial I could read to comprehend this... my site has been completely done in Flash... www .catch22combines.com looking to incorporate a forum page where the info can be uploaded... Hi, I came to know the flv can be streamed using flash media server. I want to know can we - save an input stream from the user on the server? - can we save mp3 format?

I have a question about saving bandwidth for a server. I love how the Flash webcam feeds look....but to run a webcam community site hosting a bunch of feeds would probably eat a bunch of bandwidth... Here's my question... let's say that www.webcamcommunity.com has FMS installed and is doing (as the name suggests) a webcam community... Let's say Bob and Alice want to have a webcam chat using the flash interface.... Bob and Alice see each other on webcamcommunity.com and decide to go into a chat session. Is it possible for Bob and Alice to then send their video/audio feeds directly to each other, bypassing the server? This would save mucho bandwidth for the server on a larger scale. Is that possible?
Hi, I was trying to create my first application on FMS. The problem is that the client does not show anything I created the following folder & copied my flv file into it FMS Server\applications\videostreaming\myvideos\streams\video1.flv Then I created a client (Script File) //create a netConnection object var nc = new NetConnection(); //keep an eye on the status events, we need to know when we have connected up nc.onStatus = function(info) { trace(info.code); if (info.code == "NetConnection.Connect.Success") { createStreamObject(); } }; //this function is called once we have connected up to the server function createStreamObject() { //this is the netStream object that plays the video file ns = new NetStream(nc); ns.onStatus = function(obj:Object) { trace(obj.code+":"+nc.uri); }; //attach the video stream to the video object on the stage vidObject.attachVideo(ns); //play the video file that we put in the directory for the application ns.play("video1"); } //connect up n

When i scrub to my video i see only the 'flagged' frames. but in some of my flv's the ammount of frames that i get to see is so low. How can i get more 'flagged' frames in my flv's? I hope you understand what i mean, the amount of flagged frames is critical for the app that i'm making.
I turned in my resignation last week, was pulled of my current project and asked to (in a week) figure out how to do the following: Install FMS on a test server (which we have). Configure it to play the video from a training DVD we have. The intent is to get our nurses away from having to come to the training room and viewing the DVD one at a time, but allow them access from a browser in their ward. Obviously, I do not have time to become a FMS guru. I need to try to do this qick and dirty. I just this morning unstalled FMS. I have no idea how to 1) convert the data on the DVDs to a format that can be viewed using FMS. The DVDs have no 'copy protection' on them. I can copy the structure to a hard drive and play from the files on my computer directly. 2) set up the server to play the files. 3) the original DVD has a menu that lets you navigate to specific chanpters. Can this be done within FMS? I am VERY, VERY new to this technology (I'm basically a VB/.net/SQL Server client-serve
If u run an FMS application and connect to it with a client, then pull the LAN cable to that client out of the wall [disconnecting it] the fms server still shows that client as connected.... How is this supposed to be managed? the application.onDisconnect function is NOT called in this scenario, and the application thinks a client is still present! HELP
Randomly my and my costumers browser (IE, Firefox) freezes while doing the following steps: 1. Opening a Flash Player in Popup 2. Loading a video stream in Flash Player 3. Closing the Popup in the exact moment the player finished loading or closing after scrubbing in timeline the browser freezes and finally crashes. Tried with different OS and browsers and newest flash player available.

Hi. My comany recently bought a 150-User License for Flash Media Server 2. I've installed it on a dedicated Server (Xeon 3GHz, 4GB RAM). The Server seems to run fine, ports 1935, 1111, 19350 and 11110 are open. I can login via "fms2_console.htm". I unpacked the sample apps ( http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashmediaserver/sample_apps.html) to /opt/macromedia/fms/applications/ and copied them to /opt/coremedia/public_html which is my wwwroot. I modified the .fla to point to the correct rmtp url ("rtmp://x.x.x.x/sample_guestbook/"+_root.instanceName) and compiled it to an swf which I put to /opt/coremedia/public_html. Now when I try to use the sample_guestbook: http://x.x.x.x/sample_guestbook.html I get the a green buttion, the "Connected" text + jingle, then I click on "add entry", type in something and click on "submit", but nothing happens then. The ports are reachable from my client and I have no clue what is wrong. Any help available here?
Hi does flash media server 2 require a connection to the internet i'm using the evaluation version on a computer which is not connected to the Internet at all I've checked my net connection strings and they are in order and these apps work on the computer that is connected to the Internet....this is a strange problem here is my netconnection string .... my_nc.connect (" rtmp://localhost/server_test");.......what could possible be wrong.
I have just installed the Pro edition of Flash Media Server 2 and 150 users is not going to be enough for the application, so I wish to change it to profile 2 which will give me 1000 users but at 40mb bandwidth. I have looked on here, the help screens and a scan through the manuals but cannot find anything (probably because I dont really know what im looking for) Can anyone point me in the right direction? Many thanks Gary
