Media Server (read-only)

I've been working on a project for the past 3 months using Flash Media Server. Everything works fine on my localhost, because I have flash media server installed. I use no-ip.info a dns service provider to connect to my rtmp (rtmp:designstudios.no-ip.info:1935/myapp) I've uploaded the client files to a different server...but it only works locally on my computer. Other remote computers cannot log in to my project. I've had 5 sleepless nights trying to figure this out to no avail..and I have to show this project to a client in a few days...Flash Media Server Gods please help..

I know that it is possible to integrate Flash with ASP, so that one could pass variables and check recordset in a database, using loadvar. Is it possible to do similar things from an FMS/FCS program to ASP?

Hi i've been trying to run a simple connection test to the server this is where it gets funny, i have FMS2 installed on my Desktop, which works just fine, and on my laptop, which keeps giving me a " NetConnection.Connect.Failed" error message :( what can be preventing from the calls from flash to be blocked ? i even reinstalled FMS but it didn't really help..... any idea ? some security issues maby ? thank you for your time Yariv

Hello everybody...... I am startin now with flash and fms2 so please ...be patient against my ignorance. I finally have been able to build a code for publishing and playing a live stream from my webcam. The two modules work fine if run separately one after the other....publisher ----> player. What I am trying to obtain is this: I want that a web client , via IE6, connects to my site and see live what's happening. Right now I am publishing the player ONLY module with IIS. If I connect from my laptop within my home network, to the player module (with the publisher running), it works fine. Of course the publisher has to be started manually by me before connecting from the laptop. What I want to avoid it right this.... so I would like to have the client to start the live streaming automatically when it get connected to my website, and stops the live streaming when he leaves the website. Hallo all, Yesterday expired my license... ive a ne license but the service doesnt start up..... Ive tried to install another time Flash Media Server but nothing changed... I start service but after restarting it with instancing an application it fall down... What i can do??? Anyone know how to solve it? Many thanks and happy new year! Rob

I have a problem with video in flash. I render the video out of Premiere Pro with the video de-interlaced (no fields) and when I convert it to FLV the video looks badly interlaced. I've tried changing the quality settings when I convert my video and it doesn't change anything. If anybody has any solutions or ideas I would appreciate it.

Im doing a tutorial at this url http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashcom/articles/first_comm_app.html Its made in flash mx and FCS and there are some inconsistancies in the tutorial between versions of flash Im hoping someone can help clear up for me. It says: 1.Open Macromedia Flash MX. 2.If it's not already visible, open the Components Panel (Window > Components). 3.Select Communication Components from the Component Panel pop up menu. 4.If it's not already visible, open the Property inspector (Window > Properties). 5.Save your new (and still empty) application as firstapp.fla, in the same folder you created (flashcom\applications\firstapp\) for the server-side code. 6.Drag a SimpleConnect component from the Component Panel to the top-left corner of the stage. 7.Drag a SetBandwidth component to the stage and give it an instance name of bw_mc in the Property Inspector. I see none of these components in flash 8 my flash media server is running what do I do? TIA Heruk

is there any class for Flash media server to encrypt strings in server-side?.I need to send an encrypted string from server side to externalhost. i found a Tea class for flash communication server 1.5 but id doesn´t work on FMS..it return undefined string.. Has anyone figured out how to stream video from FCS/FMS on FLEX 2.0? I've been working with all the sample code I can find, especially the FLEX 2.0 samples found in the Adobe documentation, but I'm having a heck of a time getting any of them to work. If any one has any working code that streams video from FCS/FMS using FLEX 2.0 that I can work with I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks Chris S.

Hi, I downloaded the free developers edition of FMS2 last week to get my head around it before asking my company to buy it...only trouble is now I cant ping the server or even request server information! I had a look on ever FMS and FlashComm forum I could find to see if anyone else had a similar problem and only found one... http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?forumid=15&catid=578&threadid=1204234&highlight_key=y&keyword1=ping I read this post and realised I had needed to change the date on my local machine afew days earlier to test a Flash app I was working on and now I cant get FMS2 to work properly. The post said I needed to "have a package installed called 'seamonky_nspr' which is on disc 1 of the ES" but seen as I only have the developers edition...there arent any discs? I've tried restarting the servers, uninstalling FMS, rebooting my machine...even using system restore - but nothing seems to work. Any ideas how I can fix it? Thanks

Hello buddies, I have a very very important and urgent question. Suppose in some client a stream is being published live with the name 'A'. now, if some other client should and tries to publish with the same name ('A'), it will encounter a 'NetStream.BadName' status error code, to avoid that I think there should be some way to stop the stream('A') server side, and then let the 2nd client starts publishing with name 'A'. if so, how can I stop 'A' stream on server? Does flash8 pro encode STREAMING video as VP6 or Sorenson? Non live streaming is VP6, but there seems to be no conclusive answer as to whether live streaming uses the same encoder. I guess not, otherwise something like on2 flix live would have no reason to exist if you already own flash pro...

Hi, I'm not sure if this is a bug related to version 2.0.1 but if we enable "app" scope in Application.xml (Application.xml -> Process -> Scope) then we cannot see the amount of connected clients in the FMS console anymore for SOME applications. We have 2 applications running (each instantiated for new groups of ppl) and either one of the 2 apps while show up having clients and we can monitor the performance of the instance (amount clients, uptime, traffic etc) while the other application instances only show "--" and shows no other performance data. The update interval in the FMS console is 5 secs and no data shows up for those 'faulty' instances even after 1 minute. FMS Console -> 'View applications' -> Vhost: _defaultVhost_ FMS v 2.0.1 on Red Hat Linux

I've got FMS installed on Linux. The problem is that when i record something it doesn't save anything. On Windows the same application works fine. In the console it shows me that the flv was stored, but size = 0. What might be the problem? Thanks.

FLVPlayback cannot play a flv file, but list box of right side can display a flv file screen. Hi, I have a flash movie which basically has around 10 frames and I am moving between the frames by pressing the down and up arrow keys from the keyboard by adding an action listener. Now what i want is that when i am moving i always want a flash movie to play in the background. I tried using netconnection and attachmovie but it only plays at the first frame. How can i have a movie which plays no matter where i go in the frames.

I only want to serve maximum users (2 clients) at the same time with a 42 mb true stream film. (of course I convert it to .FLV) I have windows XP SP2, IIS 5 and a network card 10/100 mb. Can I run Flash Media server on this machine? Is that gonna work or should I install windows 2000 server or windows 2003 server. And must i change my network card to higer prestanda. Must I install a server to another machie apart from my other clients - a particularly and fysical media server dedicated only for above use. If I must install another server, please tell me why I must do that Is it because of security problems, prestanda problems..or what? Ps. Windows Vista?

thats right I dont get this. I even joined the tutorial on FMS to learn this. Mac OS 10.3.9 went into applications, net info, made new_directory, copy and pasted from desktop the tar.gz file opened a new terminal window, tried to locate new_directory....COULD NOT, At a dead end. Do I need red hat on my home computer? Can I install the package on my web server on Go daddy which I have set to Linux? and how, I did try this by unzipping the files and just throwing it all up there, like throwing some gas on a dead car with no engine. I have been trying this stuff for four days. Help if you can and happy new year>

Word on the net is that Adobe Labs is releasing a FLV2 to MP3 converter. I have heard this for a month now. Anyone has an idea when its being released? We have a burning project and really convert those FLV's to MP3's so they can be downloaded by the user (we record audio with FMS2). Do you have another solution for the convertion? I have been looking all over the Net and this issue is driving me mad, especially since our client is sitting on our back. thanks in advance and greetings Chris

I found some code last night to create a centered pop up window that I want a Flash game i created come up in on my website. Created a button, added the code but got this warning when I tested it. Hello, I would like to record the flv from the client application in the flash7 codec no matter what version the user has. Reason for this is I need to convert the movi to different formats and the software we are using to accomplish that is unable to convert the latest codec. Is this at all possible, and if it is, how? I can't find an answer to this on the net anywhere, please help. Mark

I am almost at my witsend here. I am a programmer so Im not a novice at computers. I have spent four hours here trying sifting through the forums and documentation to get things working on 2 different computers and no joy whatsoever. I have got more instructions and examples from €30 software I have bought. Here is the situation In the infamous applications directory I have a folder called my_app applications\my_app\ applications\my_app\scripts\ ( the main.asc and the components.asc ) applications\my_app\test ( the _definst_ folder ) applications\my_app\test\_definst_\ ( the test.flv ) Problem 1 i have ran about a hundred variations of the folder layouts and the stream never appears in the console under the test instance Problem 2 In the client swf I have two layers, one with the script my_con = new NetConnection(); my_con.connect("rtmp://localhost:1935/my_app/test/_definst_/test.flv"); ( Have also done a hundred variations on this too ) and a second layer with the video object.

Hi everyone would apprichate help from any one who can tell me how and is their any batch software for win\linux that can prepare xml file with movie length and jpg\gif image capture of one of the frames (if i can set to to frame 20 and not 1 as dafualt) out of flv file. its for academic fms project and we have thousands of courses which we recorded and got them on flv, and need the data for the catalog. so - if any one can pls assist, got something ready or just tell me how to do it, we really will apprichate it. 10x very much !

Hi to All, I'm quite new in Flash Media Server. I installed the media server on my PC this morning and I'm going around to try to make it works with some flv files. The server is working and also the fms2 console. Now I'm trying to deploy an application to stream some flv files but the result are not good ;-(. below I post the steps that I did but for sure I'm missing something, it doesn't work :-) -create a directory named "first_application" in "C:\Programmi\Macromedia\Flash Media Server 2\applications" -create a subdirectory in "first_application" named "streams" -put my flv file in the subdirectory "streams", test.flv -now I have my flv file in "C:\Programmi\Macromedia\Flash Media Server 2\applications\first_application\streams" -open the fms2 console and go in the "view application" -create a new instance for the "first_application" named "_definst_" now I think that I should have my flv file in the list of the streams available for the "first_application", but it isn't: Why?
