Can one use the Flash Media Server to share a window that one is currently working on with everyone so that everyone could see (through the Web)? If yes, how can we do it?
Ya, I'm sure there are other topics about this, but i have no time to look or be very neat right now. I have made a flash video for an assignment but I don't know what to do to change the file type from the generic one to the type id be able to play on a DVD player instructions in the most simple manner posted as soon as available would be greatly appreciated
I followed the examples and created a live video stream test app. It works perfectly when everything is on one machine, meaning the FMS and tomcat are both on the same machine. But, when I try to access it from another machine, the other machine cannot see the live stream. I did some research on it and most of them point to be a problem with the NetConnection.connect method. Since both apps + FMS are on the same machine, I tried .connect ("rtmp:/apps/session"); .connect("rtmp://localhost/apps/sesson"); .connect("rtmp://machine.domain.com/apps/session"); .connect("rtmpt://ip address/apps/session"): All of the above works when I do it from local machine. But, the other machine doesn't work?
I just recently updated my site (ryanturri.com) with a commercial I made ("Drive the Dream"). The site is all flash and for the videos I am using Flash (flv) video for my video files. (I used Flash 8 to build the site and Dreamweaver to upload the files). I created a scene and put buttons that when selected load the "Videos" movie clip (this is were all 5 videos are located) and go to the specific point in the timeline were the video is. I have run into two problems with the first being that now, since loading the newest video ("Drive the Dream"), my videos don't play all the way through but then at random sometimes do. And the other problem being that the most recent uploaded video ("Drive the Dream") does not play at all. When you press the button to play the video it will go to where the video is located on the timeline in the Videos movie clip, but the video does not play. I hope this makes sense, and I would greatly appreciate any help. Thank you for your time. Ryan
Hi all, I have not been able to make the Sample_Videoconference file work when I publish for Flash 8 (the original file publishes to Flash6). Can anyone please tell me how I can do this? Thanks so much in advance, Matthew
How do I change and combine the following .as file and .fla file into a single .fla....i've tried various ways but none of them seem to work....any help will be appriciated. I have a listbox movie clip with an instance name of people_lb in the .fla and the movie clips name is SimpleChat as well as this code. // a random username var username = "user_" + getTimer(); // simplechat is a MovieClip on stage and is linked to the SimpleChat class simplechat.connect("rtmp:/simplechat", username); ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// The following code is the external action script(.as)..... import mx.utils.Delegate; import mx.controls.List; class SimpleChat extends MovieClip { private var people_lb:List; public var _username:String; // passed in to the

Hi Was hoping someone could help me out, I am developing an application that has a swf frontend a sql server/mysql backend, and some php/xml inbetween helping move data between them. Is there a quick step by step guide to publishing an FLV Video for streaming download?
My application requires that I can get detailed feedback from the FMS upon a given failure. For instance, if I try to open a stream who's file does not exist, is it possible to have a message or error code returned to Flash so that I can deal with the problem accordingly (in this case display some text that says "stream not available or similar)? From my experience, the only messages that get returned are success or failure messages but nothing specific.
Is there a way to save a video file to the local users machine using FMS? How about take several video clips and appending them into one clip using FMS? Thanks
Hi there, I would want to know if Flash Media Server can be installed at Debian Linux? Or how I can install Media Server at Debian? Thanks. Best Regards, Frank
having trouble with FMS2. Done everything like in documentation, Menagement console is working, but any sample aplication wont connect to server. Keep getting: NC.onStatus> info.code: NetConnection.Connect.Rejected NC.onStatus> info.code: NetConnection.Connect.Closed Tryed everything, but it seems something bad is going on. I'm developing and running FMS on the same machine. Hi All, I am trying to install FMS on CentOS, but I can never really get past the initial attempt. I immediately get a "os not supported" message and it's a game over. Anyone has any experience with this OS?
Hi there, we are using the function "application.shutdown" ( application.shutdown(); ) to clean up a specific instance of an application. After a room has been shutdown and reused again it refused to load external xml-files with xml.load and does not fire the xml.onload event. The application is basically a chatapplication which has a master-admin who can reset the room. We needed this kind of reset because our server-sided code sometimes crashes. This is our own problem but instead of wasting 100 hours of debugging we made a nice 'reset' button for our admins. The reset-button (in flash) calls a function on the server which executes "application.shutdown()". After that the application is unloaded and everybody is 'kicked' from the instance. Our chat has an auto-connect method so all people reconnect automatically after 5 seconds. This works fine. However if you try to load an XML file (file = new XML(); file.onLoad = function () { trace('loaded'); } ; file.load("myurl.xml"); then
Ive put together a simple client-server app that seems to be mostly working. Only problem is the "client.call" in the application.onConnect is not calling the function on the client. this is in my main.asc: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- application.onConnect = function (client, name) { // find next available ID var i = 0; var tempObj = users_so.getProperty("u"+i); while(tempObj != null) { i++; tempObj = users_so.getProperty("u"+i); } // Save the ID in the client object client.id = "u"+i; // add user to SO (this will trigger an onSync on the clients) users_so.setProperty(client.id, name); // name users_so.setProperty("lastClient", name); // name // accept the connection application.acceptConnection(client); // this works - onStatus is called with NetConnection.Connect.Success // Tell this client what their ID is client.call("setID", null, client.id); // doesn't seem to do anything } ---------------------------
I've been trying to create a NetService object and use that to call and get the reply of my AMFPHP remoting gateway, but for some reason this isn't working. I've read all the documentation I've found (not much -- apparently most want to do remoting client side, not server side), but it's not really clear how to debug the process... Any help is greatly appreciated. The code on the FMS main.asc file is as follows, and I've verified that the gateway does indeed work from another application (non-flash): quote: load("NetServices.asc"); application.onConnect = function(newClient, userKey) { this.acceptConnection(newClient); newClient.msgFromClient = function(msg) { msg = '<b>'+userKey+":</b> "+msg+"<br>"; application.history += msg; application.users_so.send("msgFromSrv", msg); }; application.users_so.send("msgFromSrv", "rawr"); gc = NetServices.createGatewayConnection(" http://localhost/flashservices/gateway.php"); svc = gc.getService("xtt", this); svc
Can someone please help me. we wish to stream flv files using Flash Media Server 2. we have installed the program however we are at a loss as to how to get things to work. For instance. were do we put the FLV files. and how do we access them from within flash? Let me explain. we have set the flash media server up to use a dedicated IP address. for example 90.90.90.90 we have created a separate folder within the applications folder of FMS2 called folder1 and within this there is a separate folder _definst_ and within this folder we have put our video file. video.flv - these are all on our dedicated hosting server. Now when using flash 8 on our standalone development computer. we try to import a video. we select the already deployed option. as that seems most appropriate. but whatever we enter results in a failure to load flv. We have tried rtmp://90.90.90.90/folder1/video.flv Help.. What do we do. Steve PS = Applogies, but the lack of documentation has me s
lets say i have two remote shared objects on the page SO = SharedObject.getRemote("data0", client_nc.uri, false); SO = SharedObject.getRemote("data1", client_nc.uri, false); I want to use seperate objects because i need seperate RSOs to hold data for performance reasons. How do i tell objects or varibles within the script which RSO to use?
One of the notable things about FMS seems to be its lack of useful error messages. I've found that if if my server-side scripts contain a simple language syntax error that the script will simply abort leaving no trail of what happened or why. The logfiles have been useless to me in nearly all cases. Is there a way to check the syntax of your server-side .asc file before you run it? the 'far' compiler is comical. It can be used to check for a syntax error but instead of telling you what went wrong, you get a lengthy stack trace detailing the runtime libraries on your system. Nothing about your code or what happened. So, if your code is good, far works. If there is a problem, it croaks badly. Never a reason given. Better yet, when your script crashes and is ejected by the server, is there any way to find out what happened?
Hello .. I tried to install FMS2 on a Webserver, but I was a completely failure ;) Can anyoner tell me, how I can install it, that it works .. on my local server it works !!! Or does it only works on local server ???
Hi, Can I install the developer edition on a single processor platform? Specs are for 2 CPU's but this edition will only allow 10 concurrent streams so can I get by on 1 cpu to evaluate? Thanks.
So if my application is streaming a video and FMS goes down during it... I need to be able to error handle this. I'm wondering if FMS would return some sort of message or error upon going off line or if there is any other manner in which I could handle this. Ultimately I'd like to give the user a message informing them of the problem... or possible just switch to a progressive version of the same clip. Any ideas?
I want to know, if your professional opinion, Can this be done? I have A webserver (e-learning LMS), that allows users to create a e-Learning course. they have options to (upload file, add links, etc) we want to add a new option (Podcast) where if they select this then:- - The next screen they see if a flash Apps (with option to select 'audio' or 'audio/video') - Assuming their (mic and video cam setup ok) they just click on record button and they can start to create a podcast (maybe a lesson review), when done they can review the video/audio recorded, if ok they press [OK] button. Up to this point (im sure all this can be done), so in the end the result is. the recorded podcast would be in the (2nd server) which i would have Flash Media Server installed.(INSIDE THE c:\program files\adobe\flash media server\applications\my_podcast_aps\streams) Question1: can i change the location of where the flv files are created? Question2: can i return the URL to the flv file created? Question3:
Hi, I'm really new to Flash Media Server, I've encountered an error when I try to stream FLV from FMS. The error I got is: Asynchronous I/O operation failed (Failed to attach to completion port: The parameter is incorrect. 87). I had a look around, and it appears the problem could be because I have NOD32 on the computer, is there anyway that I can use Flash Media Server without having to disable or uninstall NOD32? Or is this cause by something else, can anyone help, thank you.
