ADOBE told me today: You contacted us on 1/2/2018 1:21 PM. We have resolved your Performance issue and are closing case number ADB-613594-H5H7. The solution can be found here: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/invalid-numeric-entry-integer-96-8-required-photoshop.html. Don't wonder - it's our workaround - the problem obviously can't be soplved by ADOBE itself - nothing to add, or ???

Möglicherweise ist der Wert zu groß. Bei 16 GB RAM kann nicht alles für PS eingesetzt werden. Also einfach mal ein kleineren Wert versuchen - 8 sollten auch reichen. Aber immer bedenken, das ist ein Workarround, eigentlich muss PS den richtigen Wert selbst ermitteln! Bei Adobe herrscht aber Funkstille ...

Meanwhile I found a workaround for my problem. Under \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\16. 0 I created a DWORD OverridePhysicalMemoryMB (my System has about 4 GB of free space with total 8 GB RAM) with the value of 4000. Now I can open 'preferences --> performance' and change values. Anything works well again. Obviously, PSE gets not the correct value for the available memory on my system, but I did not found the reason. That shouldn't be a problem for Adobe, their developers know how and where they grab the value. Let's see whether ADOBE contact, I have opend a telephone support request two days ago.

Unter \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\16.0 habe ich ein DWORD OverridePhysicalMemoryMB mit dem Wert 4000 angelegt (ich habe etwa 4 GB freier Speicher bei insgesamt 8 GB RAM). Jetzt kann ich auch in PSE die Voreinstellungen zu „Leistung“ wieder öffnen und Bilder speichern. Offensichtlich liest PSE auf meinem Rechner nicht den richtigen Wert für den verfügbaren Speicher, den Grund dafür habe ich nicht gefunden. Das sollte aber für Adobe kein Problem sein, die Entwickler wissen sicherlich, wie und wo sie den Wert abgreifen. Mal sehen, ob sich ADOBE bei mir noch meldet, ich habe noch eine telefonische Support-Anfrage offen.

Das Problem tritt auch mit PS Elements 2018 auf. Aufgefallen ist mir noch, dass jpg nur sehr langsam geladen werden und dass ich auch nicht speichern kann. I also have this problem with PS Elements 2018 with WIN 10 creators update and I can't save any file, because of there "not enough RAM". I tried new installation, but it doesn't work. Does anyone know, where Adobe saves the performance preferences? I am going to call Adobe, but I have little hope in that Company ...
