Hi All -I have a VB.NET app that produces a PS file containing text and graphics. I need to keep track, in my VB app, of where some text has printed. Specifically, I have a block of text which will need to be parsed into multiple lines to fit into a fixed width column. So I would like to figure out how much of the text I can print on the current line before going to the next line. So I need to know the printed width of a given chunk of text.Is there any way for VB to calculate or somehow get (through a call to ??) the 'stringwidth' of a string of text for a given font? Thanks for your thoughts. Bob

Tried searching the Adobe site for this under products without any luck. My laserjet vendor (Hewlett-Packard) recommends I use technology called Adobe Memory Booster to expand memory available to older printer without adding SIMMs. Found Adobe doc on a page titled Postscript 3 (hence my post in this forum) that describes what AMB does but not whether it's software that can be downloaded, or what.
I have inherited some code that I'm trying to fix. The postscript file contains a 'RUN' command. When I try to open the file, I get the error unable to recognize the command. Understandable since that command does not reside on my server. It resides on a UNIX box which controls the printer. However when I try to print the file to the printer nothing happens. Neither is the command run and the results printed out nor the contents of .PS file is printed. Please help.
Hi all! Thanks for reading this! Am really not sure whether this is the right forum for such a query...Getting straight to the point, my issue is the following:I am part of an organisation where we use an operating system called Advantage Windows (By GE Healthcare) for use with MRI and CT Scan machines. We had, until recently, outsourced all of our colour printing to a company who had a xerox printer + linux workstation to do all of our colour printing. Since they were basically charging a bomb, and their service sucked, we decided to chuck them and get our own printer. Subsequently, I got the Brother DCP6690CW printer, with a refillable ink tank. Print costs drastically decreased. The problem is that the Advantage Windows Workstations can only print to a PostScript 3 printer, which the Brother is not. So right now, one has to export the images that need to be printed onto a pen-drive, and give the print from a nearby windows computer. Even though this is not particularly tedious, I wou

Hi,I'm trying to write some postscript into an EPS that Illustrator CS2 will interpret the same way as if you were to create some text in Illustrator, and hit Type - Create Outlines, which converts the text to curves and makes it un-editable, and doesn't require the client to have that font installe, which is Helvetica. This code fails to do so...%!PS-Adobe-3.0 EPSF-3.0%%Creator: %%Title: None%%CreationDate: 20/01/2011%%DocumentData: Clean7Bit%%Origin: 0 0%%BoundingBox: 0 0 595 842%%HiResBoundingBox: 0 0 595 842%%CropBox: 0 0 595 842%%LanguageLevel: 2%%Pages: 1%%DocumentMedia: A4 595 842 0 () ()%%BeginDefaults%%EndDefaults%%EndComments%%BeginProlog%%EndProlog%%BeginSetup%%EndSetup%%BeginPageSetup%%EndPageSetup/Helvetica-Bold findfont dup length 1 add dict begin currentdict copy/PaintType 2 def/StrokeWidth 25 def/Helvetica-Bold-O currentdict definefont pop end/Helvetica-Bold-O 60 selectfont72 600 moveto(Binky & Friends) showshowpage%%PageTrailer%%Trailer%%EOFAs does this... In example, I need .eps file with two layers for Adobe Illustrator. What is the format? Is only several unique peoples in Adobe knows that?Or I want create a mesh object (actually ShadingType 6), but Illustrator doesnt respects PostScript specs again!Insead it use a code like "/Mesh X!"Maybe I miss something in specifications of 2004 (!) year? Hi,I wish to make some local changes to my printer description. I read in the documentation, that I would be advised to use a customization file.I have tried to use the minimal example given in that document, but my OS (SuSE 11.3, via the YaST/CUPS utilities) rejects it as "non-complient"?This is my customization file:*PPD-Adobe: "4.3"*%My local customization file. Filename: custom.ppd*Include: "default.ppd"*%End of my customization fileThe file referenced in the *Include: statement is in the same folder as the custom file (/etc/cups/ppd).Any suggestions will be most welcome, Martin

Hello - first of all thisis my first time on, and I'm already confused because I didn't understand what it means by naming a location? Does that mean subject?OK - my question is: I am working in Pagemaker 6.5. I'm creating a brochure. All I want to do is export my document out as a pdf file. When I attempt to do this, I get a message which comes up and says "exporting a pdf file requires a postscript printer driver. Please install one"??I already have my printer driver installed. Do I need another printer driver; if so, which one? Thanks if anyone can help!
In respnce to the following programming statement:/cirtextdict 16 dict defcirtextdict begin /findhalfangle {stringwidth pop 2 div 2 radius mul pi mul div 360 mul}defThis is straight out of the Bluebook. I am obviously new to ps programming, so what am I missing here?
I am the developer of several DB/400 to PostScript drivers for a specialty packaging print company.I would like to insert, size, and position, component files (graphics) that exist as PDF files without converting them to EPS files first. Are there any PostScript commands/examples that demonstrate this ability, similar to pdfmark for inserting html and javascript actions into a PostScript stream?
hi folks,I am looking the way to create EPS files by manually, is that possible ? How ?I am interested to build EPS files by using php language.I heard there are commands that generate circles and lines + curves etcplease point me in right direction, Thanks
Does Adobe have a postscript print library for Java?I called Adobe Support - and got the typical India call center (no help of course). Hopefully Adobe has smart people someplace in the company... just not sure where. We have a Java Web Start desktop client for geospatial work that we need to add postscript support for large format printing (e.g. E size drawings). The goal is decrease print times over the normal Java2D/Windows "render a bitmap image on the client - then send it to the print server - then to the printer" method by creating a small postscript file to send to the printer - that can then create the large bitmap to print at the device. From what I can tell Adobe has no such library - is that really true?If so - does anyone have recomendations on a good solid commercial or open source library?Google seaches come up with only a couple (e.g. RiePS), none of which sound very robust. Does no one develep applications to output to postscript any more? Thanks in advance...
Because this is the only forum dedicated to something about Postscript I thought I would post this here. I am looking for a postscript driver that is compatible with x64 windows. We are using it in a pre-press solution called Newsway and right now have AdobePS Adobe 7.0 printer driver for our postscript. That is not compatible with Windows x64. I so-far have not been able to find a PS driver ANYWHERE that supports x64, but I know there has to be one out there. Maybe included with Acrobat 9? This needs to be a print driver that outputs plain, pure postscript. The PDF converter drivers that come as part of Acrobat 8 and so on will NOT work for our setup. We need PS. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
I use 'gs' to create postscript, and 'setpagedevice' to specify trays. I print a single page of content (say the file "f.pdf") on each of six different colors of paper, which are pulled from different trays. At the moment, I do this by repeating the filename "f.pdf" six times as an arg to 'gs'. This creates a single postscript file, into which I insert my six 'setpagedevice' commands. My 65ppm printer has to re-render the same 'f.dpf' postscript six times, which causes it to only produce about 20ppm. Is there a way to pass a NumCopies specification so that each of my 'setpagedevice' commands switches trays to print the exact same rasterized bitmap? In other words, to write a postscript file that rasterizes 'f.pdf' only once, and still makes use of that cached image for each 'setpagedevice'? I'm happy to read manuals, but I don't know what technique or feature name(s) I should look for... thank you, - Randy
I have a postscript file which has two logos and text to be printed on multiple pages. The logos are the same in all the pages, however i need to have text different in the pages.I have encapsulated the images along with the text. The problem is that, when i print on the Canon Printer, it prints only the first page and the subsequent pages(Basically same logos with different text) are not printed. We cannot print it individually as we have around 500 pages printed daily from a single mainframe file. However when i remove the logos code from the file, text gets printed on multiple pages. I read somewhere in some of the forums that we can use "form" for placing the logos and caching them when required if printing on multiple pages, however we cannot do this as its from a mainframe file we print and a vendor also does this printing to whom i ftp the file.Is it related to DSC Comment %%Page or some other reason??Any help??. The same structure gets repeated in the same manner, however th
Hello,I need to be able to see what is being done within an "eexec" block of a postscript file.Is there an easy way to decode it so that I can see what it does? For example:======================================currentfile eexec9b9c1569015f2c1d2bf560f4c0d52257bac8ced9b09a275ab231194ecf82935205826f4e975dcecec72b2cf3a18899ccde1fd935d09d813b096cc6b83cdf4f23b9a60db41f9976ac333263c908dcefcdbd4c8402ed00a36e7487634d089fd45af4a38a56a4412c3b0baffaeb717bf0de9ffb7a8460bf475a6718b0c73c571145d026957276530530a2fbefc6c8f67052788e6703bb5ee49533870bca1f113ad83750d597b842d8d96c423ba1273ddd32f3a54a912a443fcd44f7c3a6fe3956b0aa1e784aaec6fce08dae0c76da9d0a3eba57b98a6233d9e9f0c3f00fcc6b2c6a9ba23af389e6dfff4efec3de05d6276c6be417703ce508377f25960ef4ed83b49b01b873f3a639ce00f356229b6477a081933fef3bb80e2b9dffa7f75567b1fa4d739b772f8d674e567534c6c5bbf1cf615372be20b18472f7aa58be8c216dbddf81cc0a86b6d8318ca68fe22c8af13b54d7576fe4ca5a7af9005ea5cc4edb79c0ab668e4fec4b7f5a9eb5f0e4c088cd818ecc4feb4b40ec8bd2981bf2336074b64c4
HELP ! Operating System: Windows 2000 Professional with Service Pack 4 Word Processor: Office 2000 (including Word 2000) with Service Pack 3 Adobe Type Manager Deluxe: Version 4 .1 installed May 24, 2000, Serial Number XXXXXXXXXXXXXX-XXX. Adobe Postscript Fonts: The entire library. On September 12, 2010, I opened up a Word document created in 1992 on my computer using Adobe postscript font AvantGarde. I immediately saved the document in the latest version of Word (i.e., Word 2000). I then highlighted the bolded caption to change the font size from 12 points to 13 points. "13" is not on the font size drop down menu, so it has to be typed in manually. I did that. The second I pressed the "Enter" key, the following events occurred:
Hi,I am a mainframe developer and My client wants an execution of project where in the currently preprinted images on paper will be printed using postscript.I somehow managed to learn this language as a beginner :-). The preprinted forms have the logos and the boundaries printed. The preprinted forms are to be replaced with blank sheets. I received the postscript code of two logos in .eps format(Bigger logo, Smaller logo which i scaled down) and .pub format of a third logo. The logos were uploaded to a mainframe file and text also added as these have details related to vehicle which change on a daily basis. I was able to position the logos on the ledger paper(Thanks to ps2pdf site!) I was able to print a single label at the Canon IR8070 printer. Now when i am printing 10 pages of the file, i am getting an error on the third page always. When i printed the third page all alone, its getting printed!I could see that Limitcheck is out of memory error or image corruption from some of the si
