Hi all, Can you please suggest me a way to convert PS language level 2 file to PS3 file.Thanks,Sateesh.
Well, people are moving to Windows 7, and so must I. However, my trusty (and ancient, by electronics standards) Minolta PageWorks/Pro 25 printer, with Adobe PS 3 (3010.106) SIMM, is now just a very large piece of metal and plastic on my desk. It is working perfectly well with OS X 10.6 and Win XP. Why should I have to shell out another $400 or whatever to replace a printer that is working perfectly?Does anyone know of a free or for sale generic PS driver for Windows 7? Of course I would like something free, but if there's something to buy, I would happily do that. Any suggestions as to how to get a (networked) PS printer to work with W 7? (I do still have its PPD.) Thanks for any pointers.-Conrad

Hi,I am pretty new to PS programming and I read quite some FAQ and articles on PS programming and enabling duplex printing on the device. My wishes are pretty straight forward: All pages shall be printed duplex, no tumble. So I added right after the prolog comment the following code:%%EndProlog%%BeginSetup << /Duplex true /Tumble true >> setpagedevice%%EndSetup%%Page: formtemplate_v14_1 1Unfortunately the printer could not care less.I have now a huge pile of simplex printed pages on my desk and no clue what I am missing. If you can help, go ahead. I am printing using the prfile32 utility using a HP 4700 CLJ printer. It is attached on the network HPdirect port and I have installed the universal printer driver from HP.I will provide you the PS file, but cannot attch it here, since the function is disabled.Any help appre

I need to somehow store a given set of x & y coordinates into a def. When I draw a path to a certain point, the program needs to store that point in a def to use it later on. For instance, the program will be deciding whether to draw a line to the left or to the right, depending on whether or not it's x value is greater than (to the right of) the center of the page, or less than (to the left of) the center. the logic is as such: { Draw a circle with circleX and circleY as the center Draw a line from the edge of the circle out 10 points Now after you draw this line, where are you (what is your x,y)? Store those x,y coordinates into defs named previousX, and previousY. if previousX is greater than or equal to circleX, then draw a line to the right. If not, then draw a line to the left. } I have been using currentpoint with success when creating a new origin point for arcs and whatnot, but something like /previousPoint currentpoint def just doesn't work. I also cannot compare
Hello, I have a postscript program which needs to output some text to a file. I declare the filename like so: /tmpfile (input.mrd) (w) file def Currently, it outputs to that file name in the same directory that I run the postscript program. I need it to output to a different directory, outside of where I am running the program. For example, I might want to output to "C:\Myfolder\input.mrd". I have tried several different ways of declaring the file, such as /tmpfile (C:\Myfolder\input.mrd) (w) file def, or /tmpfile (C:/Myfolder/input.mrd) (w) file def, or /tmpfile (Myfolder\input.mrd) (w) file def, or /tmpfile (C:\\Myfolder\\input.mrd) (w) file def.. etc. but none of those work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Hello,I have several print files that contain a PCL job and one or more Postscript Jobs. The PCL job prints a cover letter that is one or more pages and this is printed simplex. The Postscript Job(s) can be any number of pages from 4 to 9 and need to be printed duplex with each Postscript Job starting on a new page. Each Postscript Job has PCL code before and after the Postscript Job. I inserted a duplex command into each Postscript Job and this produces the desired duplex output with each Postscript Job starting on a new page.Everything is great until I encountered a file that does not paginate correctly. This file has one PCL Job and three Postscript Jobs with 7, 8 and 7 pages respectfully. When this file is printed the second Postscript Job of 8 pages starts on the back of page 7 of the first Postscript Job. In addition, when this print file is sent to my printer it is broken up in to only two print job (the PCL Job and one Postscript Job). This i

I have an application that needs to be able to convert a jpeg into hex ascii, and then put that hex ascii into a postscript file. I know of one way to put this jpeg into postscript, but that's without using the jpeg's hex - instead, it uses a local path to a filename. I need to know two things: 1. Within a jpeg, how can I extract the hex ascii to use in postscript, in a way that postscript will understand it? Do I need all the header information? If anyone has done this before, please shed some insight. I have found the red book to be not as helpful for this specific problem as I would like. 2. Within said postscript file, how do I enter the hex of the jpeg back so that it will display properly? Thank you very much.
I urgently need some help. I am a bankruptcy lawyer who just installed Coller TopForm on my box running XP Pro SP3. Unfortunately, the only way that program will output a PDF is through AdobePS, which it comes bundled with. When I try to install the drivers, it unpackages the Winstaller, but goes nowhere from there, because my system is having trouble running the 16-bit process. I tried installing the drivers in safe mode, but that didn't work because the print spooler can't run in safe mode. I tried re-downloading the driver from the Adobe website (http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=44&platform=Windows) and same results. Please help -- I can't use my software without this annoying relic.

Greetings! We have an ordering application which uses .ps files which serves as templates to generate a .pdf order contract form using Adobe Distiller. The .ps template file are created by 'print to file' a template Word document using Word 6 (pretty old) which saves a .prn file and it is later renamed to .ps. These template word document contains certain tags (delimited text), which will also be present in the .ps file as is. The application later parses these .ps files to replace these tags with its corresponding values from business objects and passes the stream to Adobe distiller which returns a PDF file.In Word 6 [67 0 0 -67 0 0]/Helvetica MF(Order Number: $sOrderNumber$)116 677 MSWhen the same word document is 'print to file' using Word 2003, the tags ( and all the text ) are encoded in the .prn file as below: In Word 2003 [83 0 0 -83 0 0]/Helvetica MF(O)116 731 MS (r)181 731 MS (d)209 731 MS (e)255 731 MS (r)301 731 MS ( )329 731 MS (N)352 731 MS (u)412 731 MS (m)458 731 MS (b)52
Hi AllDoes anybody know how to override the postscript pdfmark code to use Distiller Settings?I have a pdfmark code that calls the multiple postscript files to generate the pdf. Whereas if I call that "pdfmark" code file using the command line Acrodist.exe, pdf generation fails incase of warnings/errors. Whereas if I run the postscript files individually, pdf doesnt fail. So, probably I think its a good idea to force pdfmark to use the default Distiller settings and still include the pdf page even if there is a error.I would really appreciate if someone know the code which we can use to force to use the Distiller settings.I couldnt find any correct code from pdfmark reference guide.http://www.adobe.com/devnet/acrobat/pdfs/pdfmarkReference_v9.pdfRegardsHari

Hi all,I have an old cad software that write some schemas directly in ps files, referencing helvetica font.I need to use text in central europe language, russian, greek, etc. I have strings in a database, in unicode format. If I write automatically these strings in ps files, I have to change Helvetica font with MyriadPro (for example) and I could do this with a text substitution. It works fine if all text is ansi and I find a pdf distilled with myriadpro. But if I insert or paste non-ansi text, the distiller give me an error.I think that I should convert the text in ansi greek, ansi russian, etc... and then use helvetica Greek, etc.Is there a chance to use a opentype font? Thanks, Mario
Is there a OCR A font for Postscript that can be loaded to postscript printer?I have an application where I am applying a postscript file to a spool file, and some of the data in spool file I want to print in OCR A font. What is easiest way to do this?Dale
I am trying to capture the bounding box from painting a character using glyphshow, but the result seems not to be the actual bounding box. Here is a snippet of PS code that I am trying:% begin snippet/BickhamScriptPro-Bold 70 selectfont0 0 movetonewpath/glyphname glyphshow pathbbox/ury exch def/urx exch def/lly exch def/llx exch dev% end snippetI use the result to center the glyph like so:% begin snippet/hw llx urx add .5 mul def0 hw sub 0 moveto /glyphname glyphshow% end snippetFor the glyph I'm using the result is not centered ("d.begin", font: Adobe Bickham Script Bold). Note the glyph is a very slanted cursive 'd' with the upper right part extending well over adjacent characters to its right. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

Hi! I have program that today generates PCL code for printing. The data to print is stored as 7-bit ASCII. When printing PCL I use the "Symbol Set Selection" parameter ESC(0S to tell the printer to use the "PCL ISO 11 Swedish" "Symbol set" to get the correct Swedish characters (åäöÅÄÖ) printed.PCL ISO 11 Symbol set I now want to write a PS code instead and wondering if there is any way to do the same with PS as with PCL. Kind regards Daniel
