Hello i a want to buy a laptop which i will use also for video editing. I say also because mostly i edit on my desktop. Someitmes i am out and do some pre assembly or editing of short clip. So generally no strong job inb it.Now my budget is around 1000 and i need to choose between mobility and performanceI would like mobility , but a 13" or 14" laptop at that price has a i7U core generallyAt the same price i can get a hq core but with a 15'6 " laptopNow..i need hq is better, but i ask to who experienced that..How much better?what effectively change and in what part of the editing job i will see the difference?Do i have to sacrify portability  to have a reasonable, or decent performer laptop?thanks a lot[Moderator note: moved to best forum]

I'd like to edit 4K smoothly at max resolution without creating proxies, and on Mac. These would be h.264 clips from Sony mirrorless and I'd like to have Lumetri enabled with a LUT typically. What Mac can cut it? Thanks!

As have many others, I am looking to order a custom laptop for Adobe CC '17. I know just enough with computers, but not enough to feel comfortable without getting some feedback. I am looking to be portable, therefore the laptop, but also to potentially be able to have up to two additional screens connected.  I mainly use Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop and Encoder for Video Editing. Most projects run from :30 TV spots to 5-10 minute videos. I'll mainly edit and output 1080. There may be a need to bring in 4K but not output. My budget is between $2000 - $2500. Fine when scrolling timeline.File type: MXF, 2k.Also strangely, when this lagg occurs, task manager reports 100% CPU usage. Also after the start up "play" lag, it countinues fine, at 2% CPU usage.I could not find anything on this matter, a few older threads around the web with no answers. Take a loot at this setup. I'm editing lots of 4k footage from a Phantom 4 pro and soon a Panasonic GH5. Most importantly i'd like a fluid 4k playback in the timeline with the full quality setting within Premiere - although I could also live with fluid playback at 1/2 quality. Will be converting lots of H.264 to Prores, so this should run quickly as well. Hey guys, help me please to choose a laptop under 2000$ or even under 1500$I would like to buy a nice laptop around this price, so I can do my work in my travel. I'm a motin designer, but sometimes I also work as a colorist or video editor, so i need fairly powerful laptop. 4k footage and my now more extensive use of cineform codec means my 7x2tb raid 5 is now no longer cutting the mustard.Its running on an areca 1223 8i with sata drives on windows  (HGST enterprise).I tend to do small projects but end up keeping quite a lot of media, filling up my raid. Problem is that I dip into this media quite frequently, so it needs to stay on a relatively fast drive.  I could ditch the raid altogether, or replace the drives with say 4x6tb drives giving me room to keep adding. or I could go to raid 0, and get used to doing daily backups (I've had a bad experience with raid 10, was a waste of time when it came to data security).I'm open to ideas, though - like an external solution with a more modern file system....?

My goal is to edit 4k straight from my Sony a6500 and Phantom 4 Pro (h.264 files) directly in PP without creating Proxies. I just want to drag and drop and edit, applying Lumetri and a LUT for the most part. Cutting a feature doc with Premiere, and in many ways it's great. Handling various formats, ease of title creation and adjustments. Interaction with photoshop and AfterEffects. Great.But...when it comes down the actual nitty gritty of editing -- moving in and out of source clips, trimming -- or even just moving through timelines, I'm getting lots and lots of headaches, pauses, drives spinning...Most frustrating is when I'll be playing a clip in a timeline. Pause then go to play the clip again 1 second later, and now I'm forced to wait 30 seconds for ALL of my G-Raid's to flash and spin and do something so that this clip that was playing perfectly well a moment ago can resume.This is frustration #1 -- something is happening wherein my drives are holding things up, their flashing, spinning, and I'm waiting. I'm not sure what they're doing but it's grinding the cutting down to a halt. Any solutions out there? G-Drive is telling me the issue is not with them because the drives are made to

Just overclocked my 5820 to 4.2Ghz.  I've tested it, seems very stable, temps are fine, no throttling. DRAM now at its stock speed of 2400, rather than 2133 that "auto" was setting it to.  Rendering seems improved, general system responsiveness is good... BUT whereas premiere used to be able to handle mp4s with no problem, now it stutters and spits the dummy - even 1080 ones seem to give it trouble. A  higher res timelpase (4k) - I have to wait 30 seconds before I get a single frame displayed in the source monitor - it just says media pending. Even a 1080 one it taking 10 seconds+.  Once loaded the 4K one plays OK in the source monitor, but drag it to a 1080 timeline and the playhead will move, but it'll just show 1 frame.Anyone else out there overclocking and can help?

Hi there,So I'm hoping to learn a number of new skills in After Effects, but my MacBook Air doesn't really have what it takes under the hood to run the program very well. Rendering anything more than the most basic effects is nearly impossible. I'm hoping to get into beauty work, color work, motion graphics, 2.5D, lighting, etc, and I'm looking to buy a new computer in order to learn these things. I'm especially hoping to buy a Mac, and even hoping to buy a laptop, but if that won't work, then I'll take any recommendations. What relatively simple computers can handle After Effects? And I need PC to edit in 4k blackmagic camera files. Which micro is better to edit in 4k in adobe premiere and do color correction. Intel i7 7700k or amd ryzen 1700x? I am mainly interested in knowing which one has the best performance for playback. I'm not interested in the difference in render time. Or do any of these micros work? The Quadro K2200 is in the list of supported cards for GPU acceleration--latest drivers installed. Premiere Pro 2017 does not recognize it. I have installed the latest driver, I have checked the NVidia Control Panel to include Premiere in the list of "Manage 3d Settings"Project Settings doesn't even give the option of renderer. I have tested Adobe Premiere Pro 5.5 and I was able to get it to recognize and effectively scrub and render real-time. (Yellow line) And I have combed through posts online and have tried any and all hacks and tips from other users. Nothing seems to make a difference.
