James Sauvage: Just a quick note.. I do not know the difference between Adobe 8.1.2 & 9.0...However you CAN download 9.0 using the link in reply #47 or #56..They are the same...You might want to find a way to KEEP 8.1.2 just in case you don't like it for some reason...I for one do..

Many thanks, Ron Schreiber. I gave it another whirl--like you said, using the FTP download installation file and without uninstalling anything or changing things in the Registry. The only concession to proper procedure was that I did disable my antivirus program.
Still no success. Norman Harrold (post #55)and I have the exact problem. Our Epson scanner Copy Utility opens when "Processing" gets to 99.98%. If I do nothing, nothing further happens. If I click the Copy Utility window off, the Reader "processing" window closes as well with no installation having happened.
Guess I will just stick with 8.1.2 for now. Someday I might even try uninstalling the Scanner, just to see what happens. But 8.1.2 seems to do all that I need.
It still would be nice to hear from Dick Dunbar and the significance of the statement "The "Air Installer" runs, creates what looks like the correct files in LocalSettings/Adobe ... then throws them all away". What about the Reader files?

    More info:
James, just to be perfectly clear, copy and paste the link in Gleb's post #56 into your browser address window and click enter, the link to the correct standard download for version 9.0 will pop up on your desktop, Good luck. It worked perfectly for me.

    Reply to James Sauvage:
James, read my post #61, I used Paul's method in post #47 to resolve the installation problem we all are having, I used the link Paul mentions WITHOUT doing anything else, I did not delete version 8.1.2 first, nor did I do any of the registry deletes some mention, I simply ran the link mentioned in Paul's post, and PRESTO, vesion 9.0 installed without any problems, and my old version 8.1.2 was deleted automatically as part of the version 9 install. Hope it works for you as simply as it worked for me. Everything else I had tried failed to install version 9 until I tried Paul's link.

Dick Dunbar and Ronald Magnan--Please explain in more detail what you did since I feel many others have tried what you seem to have done, but without success. I assume you are talking about Post #47 when you refer to Paul.
Ronald Magnan--It is not completely clear that you had success with Post #47. Was that procedure what you followed?
Dick Dunbar --What is the role of "I used Microsoft Process Monitor to follow the Adobe download/install. The "Air Installer" runs, creates what looks like the correct files in LocalSettings/Adobe ... then throws them all away. " in a successful installation?

Paul's suggestions resolved this nagging Acrobat install problem.

I used Microsoft Process Monitor to follow the Adobe download/install. The "Air Installer" runs, creates what looks like the correct files in LocalSettings/Adobe ... then throws them all away.

Adobe Amateurs ... Thanks for the help, Paul.

I already had the google toolbar, but uninsled it and then when I went to reinstall it, I had options of what to install with the google toolbar when I went to reinstall it, so try that.
