    Hello DrGoodyear,

We apologize for the inconvenience caused, as per the description above, you are getting an error message when you open a PDF file with Adobe Reader DC, Is that correct?

Please check for any pending updates of Adobe Reader DC from Help>Check for updates. You can also repair the installation file of Adobe Reader from Help>Repair installation(only for Windows). Reboot the machine after the installation of updates and repair.

Try repairing the Microsoft visual C++ 2013 Redistributable(x64&x86) and reboot the machine and try to open a PDF file. To repair, navigate to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features\Visual C++ Redistributable 2013 (right click and repair).

If this does not work, then uninstall the Microsoft visual and reinstall it, reinstall it from Download Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013 from Official Microsoft Download Center

Restart the machine and launch the Adobe Reader again and check.

If you still face the issue, uninstall Adobe Reader DC using the Acrobat cleaner tool Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs  Reboot the machine and install the Reader from Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution

Let us know how it goes.

    Regards,

    Anand Sri.
