Highlight tool automatically goes to pan tool

Hi

When I click on the highlight tool and highlight a specific text, the cursor automatically goes straight to the hand tool. When I hover my cursor over the hand tool, it is described as 'click to pan around the document'. This means that every time I want to highlight a text in my document, I have to reclick the highlight button which is quite annoying. I would like to keep my highlight tool on as I go through the pages of my document so that I can highlight different texts without reclicking the highlight tool. I have Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.

Can someone please please help me?

Hi,

which version of Adobe Reader DC are you using?

In Edit, Preferences, go to General, and in the Basic Tool section tick the box labeled " Make Hand tool select text & images".
