The purpose of the form i am making is to have blank fields as NOT readonly and fields that are filled in as readonly. If the filled in fields need to be modifed, i have an edit button that turns all fields that are readonly as false and once ONE field is edited it disables editing unless you click the edit button again. For ages, I have produced my "transparencies" by editing PDF files. I remove parts step by step in order to show those pages in reverse order, presenting my stuff paragraph by paragraph (or even line by line).In the new version of Acrobat Pro, editing (often) influences other parts of the slide, even other paragraphs that should not be effected, ruining my presentation. How can I make sure that nothing but the edited parts are effected, just like the good old touch up tool did? If that is not possible, I have to return to an old version.

Is it possible to write a calculation formula that isn't based on numbers?  I am creating a risk assessment worksheet.  There are 2 categories to score-severity and probability.  The available options for severity are I, II, III, IV, and N/A.  The available options for probability are A, B, C, D, and N/A.  Depending on the combination of the 2 options (i.e. I-A, IV-C, etc), the result could be EH, H, M, or L.  Is there a way to calculate the result based on the 2 inputs?  I hope that makes sense.

I'm experiencing crashes and random misbehaviour of Acrobat (both on the latest DC Pro and even back on 8.3) as when launching an embedded PDF from an IBM (Lotus) Notes document AcroAXApp is giving me an AVDoc instance that hasn't finished drawing, so making calls against it (and its associated PDDoc) upsets Acrobat.I'm basically trying to script extracting OLE Embedded PDFs from an IBM (Lotus) Notes database. When I make COM call to Lotus Notes to activate an embedded PDF it loads the PDF in Acrobat and I get back an AcroAXApp object which has a Document method which returns an instance of AcroAVDoc. From that AVDoc I can get the PDDoc and call Save against it and then Close.The problem I'm running into is that when I call AcroAXApp.Document it seems it will return the AVDoc before it's finished drawing it on screen, so depending on the timing of my code I can get all sorts of odd errors and total crashes calling methods against AVDoc and its associated PDDoc (sometimes on Save, somet

I have a time field that enters the current time when I enter the field (acroform).I was able to do this successfully with the code below.  However, I would like to copy this field multiple times (T1.0, T1.1, etc..) and not have to enter and change the javascript in each field.  Any wildcard to replace "T1.0" with the reference to the same field? There's a Visible text field called CompletePrompt at the top of the page on top of a Hidden signature field. There is a Sign Checklist button at the bottom of the page. I reinstalled Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional on a new laptop after the old PC crashed.  Following successful installation I tried to "Activate" the software and received the following error:"Registration connection error" "We were unable to connect to Adobe to Register your product."How can I resolve the issue and activate the software?  I tried exiting the software and registering again, but received the same error.  I had previously activated the software back in 2006 on an old PC (which is now defunct.)

The JSOFindWordVB sample app finds a word in a pdf, works great, but will not find a date.  I copy the date from the pdf, so I know it's the same, paste in the query field and it does not find it?  Why?

I don't know if this is possible, but is there a way to set a drop down box to move to a certain item when you start to type that item in the box?I have a drop down box that will need over 300 different items to choose from and the user is wanting it so that if you start typing a certain item, it will automatically scroll to that item so you don't have to scroll through all 300 different items.Is this even possible? The bike is supposed to follow the distance of 260 miles and every time some one IRL cycles x amount of miles I want to be able to add information and the bike moves. I have set up a pdf form that includes a large number of fields with the required property turned on. I activated the required property by adding a "submit" button with a mailto: action.  Is there another action that I could use in case the form users don't want to genterate an email or another way to activate the required field property?Thanks for the help!Ken K.

Hello, Links in newly created PDFs from Word now try to open in my browser instead of their native program. That is, if I have a link to a PDF or Word document in a Word document and PDF it using the Acrobat tab and selecting "Create PDF", when I click on a link in the newly created PDF, it tries to open it in my browser and not Acrobat or Word and when I hover the Hand cursor over the link (see Screenshot #1 below), it now shows a "W" in the hand, which means "Open a web link", whereas links in documents that I created previously the same way have no "W" over the hand (see Screenshot #2 below) when I hold my cursor over a link in a PDF and they open into the correct program (Acrobat or Word) when I click on them.Screenshot #1:Screenshot #2:Somehow, PDFMaker (used from inside Word 2013) is now coding the resulting links in the PDFs as "Open a web link" (see Screenshot #3 below) instead of "Open a file":Screenshot #3:The files that used to be created (prior to 06/29/2016) have the Link

I'm trying to create a form that captures a lot of data, particularly vehicle accident data.  Some of the item values are very long.  What I would like to do is to allow those completing the form to select the Item value from the drop-down box, but populate the form with the export value, which I plan to have as numerical.  So if we have item values of Apple, Banana, and Cookie, with corresponding export values of 1, 2, 3, when the user selected Banana, the form would display 2.  Can that be done?  Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you.

Can specific text be extracted from a pdf file?I have pdf's that have pictures, text, tables and just lines of text in them. The pictures are identified with a g-number, I would like to find a way to extract out all the g-numbers and put them in excel.Also there is another data set I would like to have extracted as well. But I figure if I can get one, the other should be similar.Thanks
