Is is normal that my recently install online version of Acrobat Pro opens up Acrobat 2020 as the desktop version of the software? The online version look new and modern, but it still seems to be using Actobat 2020 to open up PDFs on the desktop. I previously had Acrobat 2020 installed before I installed th enew Acrobat Pro I aquired for our charity.

Hi Ross Snowden,

Thank you for the information.

It seems that you still have the Adobe Acrobat 2020 perpetual version installed on your machine. Please try to uninstall the application from your machine and install the Acrobat Pro subscription version. You may use the steps suggested below:

- Remove the application and run the cleaner tool (https://adobe.ly/3M3pSeW).
- Reboot the machine.
- Install Adobe Acrobat from the following page: https://adobe.ly/3M697jh.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

Hi @Ross Snowden,

Hope you are doing well. Sorry for your experience with using Acrobat Pro DC.

When you mention "online version," is it the Acrobat Pro DC desktop version of the application or the Acrobat Web Portal (https://adobe.ly/49jFfcV)?

This will help us provide better troubleshooting steps.

In the meantime, this is what you can do basis your device's OS:

For Windows: right-click a PDF file > more options > properties > click change to the right of "Opens With" > Apply > OK.

For Mac: Control-click a PDF file, then select "Get Info" and change the application name to the bottom of the info page. Close.

Select Acrobat Pro DC in either of the scenarios, and Acrobat Pro DC shall launch for all future instances.

Let us know how it goes.

Regards,
Souvik.

Unfortunately, I don't have the option to open any PDF file with  "Acrobat DC Pro", only  "Adobe Acrobat 2020". This is the default. I can open in the browser (Edge) and can edit there, however, this looks like a web app to me.

Yes. Thank you. This was exactly the case. I was assuming that the installer would have deleted the old perpetual version and installed the new subscription version. This is did not happen.

I managed to uninstall Acrobat 2020 (perpetual version), reboot and then install the subscription version, which Abobe Creative Cloud did autromatically. Everything's now in order and the new version runs perfectly. Thanks for the input!
