Send for Signature with Password Isn't Working

I'm trying to password protect some pdfs then use send for signature.

I get an unsupported file type error.

It's a a pdf. I added the password right in Adobe.

Help, please!

I bought this so I could easily send things for signatures.

Does it not work if you add a password?!

Do I need to do something special to send password protected files?

Correct answer AadeshSingh

I am also a tax preparer and am trying to do the same thing. Did you ever get this resolved ??  If so can you share with me.

You are correct adding a password to a send for signature file would make a lot of sense

Same issue here. I do not want to put a password to restrict signing. I want to put a password on to restrict editing, but still allow signing. The "manual" sign tool can be used, but it won't let me send it for signature via Adobe Sign.

Hello? Are we able to use send for signature on password protected documents?

I tried a new document from scratch yesterday and it would not work.

The process is to put a password on the pdf, and then try to "send for signature", however, the file will not upload because of "unsupported file error".

Hi rd522,

Please let us know the exact error message you get.

Also please share the exact workflow you do to add password to the file.

Please refer this KB doc : https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/securing-pdfs-passwords.html‌ Check if this helps.

Meenakshi

‌I've read that before, thank you.

I'll upload my workflow tomorrow.

I've spent an hour on this, twice.

It is obviously not seamless or functional.

I tried doing the password first then send for signature.

it won't allow send for signature if you disable printing or editing so I tried only selecting an Open Document password.

IT will not allow the file to be attached once a password is added.

Password encryption should be a step in the send for signature process!

I Also tried preparing the form, selecting signature fields, saving it, then adding the password.

The error was "unsupported file type". The file type is pdf and was selected from a window that only allows supported file types to be visible.

Is this software able to send a password protected file for signature or am I wasting my time?

I'm a tax preparer & will be going with alternate esignature software tomorrow if this isn't resolved.

I cant spend another hour on this.
