Adobe and contributors missing the opportunity of additional 58% of sales

Hello!

I accidentally discovered an opportunity to increase sales and wanted to share it. I apologize if this is not the most appropriate place to post this.

The opportunity involves uploading files in both vector (AI/SVG) and PNG formats.

I have been working on some vector artworks to upload to Adobe Stock. After studying how other contributors upload similar content, I found that they often upload the same file in two formats: AI/SVG and a separate PNG file. The AI/SVG files go to the vector section, while the PNG files go to the illustration section. I followed this approach and noticed that I achieved sales of both vector files and PNG files.
Although other contributors upload files this way, I felt that uploading the same file in both vector and PNG formats might be considered spamming by Adobe Stock. To clarify this, I posted a question on the Adobe Community and received an answer from an expert.

Interestingly, the statistics I gathered are quite revealing. Both AI and PNG files were uploaded and approved at the same time, with similar relevant titles and keywords. The AI files were sold 12 times, while the PNG files were sold 7 times. This indicates that uploading files to different categories results in an additional 58% increase in sales for both Adobe and the contributor.

I assumed that not all customers would search for a vector file and download it as a PNG if they needed a PNG file. Instead, they limit their search by using the illustration filter.

I have spoken with some designers who frequently use Adobe Stock to download artworks, and they all confirmed my theory: ordinary users (not professional designers) don't browse the vector category if they need a PNG artwork; instead, they use the illustration category. The designers I spoke with also clarified that professionals use both vector and illustration categories to search for assets, but ordinary users limit their search to the illustration category because they are unaware that AI/EPS/SVG files can be downloaded as PNG and JPG files too. Additionally, they mentioned that ordinary users prefer downloading PNG files from the illustration section because the size of the PNG image is clearly displayed, which is not the case for PNG format of vector files.

Despite my thoughts and statistics, I have deleted my PNG versions of the artworks. However, I still believe that Adobe is missing an opportunity for additional sales.

It is not allowed to upload the same content in different formats (i.e. Adobe Illustrator and PNG). As a matter of fact, this confuses users as they search for an item, get presented that item, licence it, just to detect that they have licensed the pixel asset instead of the vector asset. Accounts get blocked for duplicating the assets.

If you want to suggest improvements to the user interface and the way searches get presented, you should post your idea in the ideas section of the stock forum: https://community.adobe.com/t5/stock/ct-p/ct-stock?page=1&sort=latest_replies&filter=all&lang=all&tabid=ideas

Dear Adobe experts!

If you read my post carefully, you will see that it is actually NOT about uploading the same content in different formats (vector, raster).

Let me clarify my point. My post is about the current structure of the site. When uploading vector files, Adobe automatically generates PNG/JPG files as well. However, these PNG/JPG formats are linked to the vector file. And as a result, all these versions are placed only within the vector category.

Users who are searching specifically for PNG files do NOT always search the vector category to find the vector file and download its PNG/JPG version. They limit their search to the illustration category. This is not my guess. I have talked to professional designers and ordinary Adobe Stock customers to learn about their search steps, as I mentioned in my initial message.

The solution is simple. Adobe Stock generates PNG/JPG versions of vector files automatically. It can make changes to the site so that these PNG/JPG files appear in the illustration category with a small link to their vector format file in the vector category.

This is what I'm trying to explain. Look at my small statistics. It is small because I deleted all my duplicates as soon as I realized that it was not right to do it this way, though there are MANY accounts using this approach. Statistics show that there is an opportunity for additional sales for both Adobe and contributors.

I've been working in the Sales department of a large company for more than 10 years. I'm confident that this is a valuable sales proposal. I really want it to be noticed by the Adobe Sales/Business Development Department, but I don't know the right place or the right person to contact. If you could give me any advice, I would very much appreciate it.

Most customers can export native .ai files to transparent .png if needed.

Hopefully you don't get penalized for duplicate content.

Good luck.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
