Can I use a modified version of this Adobe Stock asset in a ebook/printed book? I am doing a book about GLP-1 and modified this asset # 533705124 https://stock.adobe.com/images/human-body-full-body-illustration-set-transparent-background-solid-line-woman-front-side-back-medical-fashion-style/533705124?prev_url=detail

I have read the usage rights, but I am unclear on the verdict.

Attached is my modified version of this graphic.

Also, the “tiled” square in the upper left of the image- what is that for?

As I understand the legal parameters, yes, if you purchase it with an extended license (since it’s going in an ebook), you can modify the asset as you wish.

Users in this Stock Contributor forum have no control or influence over what Adobe does or how they price their products.
I suggest you check with your e-publisher. Amazon KDP, for example, has strict requirements about images, etc. that authors use in e-books. Better safe than sorry.

In a related post below, an author was banned by KDP for copyright violation because she used artwork from Canva design software in her e-book.

$80 for a simple graphic that I can have AI produce for free.

They are pricing the small and the small retired folks (like me)out of the market for their products, like the CC subscription, which I will probably let expire to find more cost-effective tools.

I have been buying/using Adobe products since Photoshop 2.5, and sadly, their pricing models are driving that relationship to extinction.

This is where I get confused regarding the Extended license. It could well be interpreted that if the buyer doesn’t plan on selling 500,000 copies of the eBook, and the asset in question is not used, for example, on the cover to promote the selling of the book, a standard license might be sufficient. Maybe someone else can chime in here on the matter.

As far as creating an asset for free is concerned, that depends. If you’re paying for a service (such as Firefly, Gemini, etc., you can use such assets for commercial purposes. But most service only allow personal use if an asset is created for free.

Yes, it is not very clear at all; that is why I posted the question.

Grok Image created the image outline, and I added the shot locations in Photoshop in a few minutes. Now no restrictions on usage.

Now, paying the $80 for a professional image or something like that, I have no issue with that. I started my graphics life as a photographer, so I am all about copyright protection, but in this case, being retired and working on a personal project, that cost is a NoGo for me.

The checkerboard pattern denotes transparency.

Maybe the artist removed something and neglected to fill it in with a solid background.
