how were these not accepted?

It appears these have been upscaled, and because of that there is noticeable aliasing and blurry details when viewed at 100%.

The images are both clipped off on one side as well.

What was the rejection reason? Quality issues?

Did you create these using AI software?

Did you include all the necessary information with the AI asset?

Did you read the guidelines?

Adobe is very strict in terms of quality, it usually zooms in to 100% or 200% to see the sharpness of the image, yours in this case is very pixelated when you zoom in to 100%, I recommend you use gigapixel or another site to improve image quality
