Can I use a person generated with Firefly in other environments? As an example - an old man sitting in front of his stonehouse and the same person then standing by a small stream in the forest? I want to use it for a little picture story.

You would perhaps need to research that on the web "generate same model in different poses". It's kind of rare that the models can do it.

Photoshop also uses Firefly. There is also another thread about it  here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/adobe-firefly-ideas/p-maintaining-a-scene-or-character-across-different-prompts/idi-p/13676725

You will always get at least slightly, but most of the  time wildly different individuals. They will not look the same.
