Cross-Product Creative Challenge #2: Firefly Gallery Choice

  • March 13, 2025

You don’t have to be an expert! This is for anyone at any skill level. The main thing is to have a go, and let the joy of creating be its own reward!

Thank you to everyone who took part in last month's challenge. This month's is a little different. Instead of using your own prompt, pick a starter image from the Firefly Gallery such as this one.

Generate a new image using the same prompt, then use Firefly, Adobe Express, or Photoshop, to expand the image into a finished product of your choice using at least one other app from Creative Cloud and/or Substance 3D. The point of the challenge is to work across apps, so this is important.

Save an image, screenshot, or video clip of your final artwork, post it as a reply to this post, and (important!) describe your process and which tools you used. Let's see how far your creative ideas can go!

I started with the Firefly prompt, "Firefly A cinematic nighttime scene featuring a 2D vintage cartoon character seamlessly integrated . . ." and generated a new image.
I then brought that image into Photoshop, gave it a wider canvas, and used Content-Aware Fill to complete the left and right portions.

My next step was to incorporate some rain, so I used the Generate Image prompt to accomplish this.

I then brought the image into Illustrator to add the text.

I didn't realize just how large that original file became.

Here is a smaller version that works as a preview.

I went to the Adobe Firefly community on the Gallery section and saw an image that I liked.

The prompt was papercraft modern office in the forest, face mountain and ocean, bright and futuristic, pastel color. This was in a square shaped for the ratio. Then I changed the Prompt: papercraft modern office in the Hawaii jungle, face mountain and ocean, bright and futuristic, pastel color. Also, I went to Adobe Express and uploaded the image and set it as a background with a ratio of 1080 x 1920 px.

I used a large number of images from the gallery.
I used the client's logo as a reference, as they invited me to a conference for young entrepreneurs. I iterated on about a hundred images.
I made an animated GIF on Photoshop (for the demo, but I also showed how to do it on Adobe Express).
I edited the teaser for my conference on Adobe Express. I gave a conference in front of 100 people on Firefly and Adobe Express (the teaser video was in the background as an introduction). I explained to everyone how Firefly works and referenced the structure using an example, then showed them how to edit the video on Adobe Express by adding sound, video, etc.
I promoted my work on LinkedIn and shared my Firefly, Express, Photoshop, and Illustrator courses, with a bonus from my LinkedIn Learning courses for those attending the workshop 😉

I used this material in my presentation. AND share my Firefly support materials with everyone

Now that's a big improvement! He reminds me of Clara's bf from the Peter Capaldi series of Doctor Who.

A translucent pink gelatin cake, sliced into even wedges and arranged on a glass cake stand. Each piece is topped with a swirl of white cream and a glossy red cherry with a long green stem. The bright lighting enhances the gelatin’s transparency, creating a playful yet elegant presentation

Funny 🙂
This kind of show could require a disco ball but actually, natural lighting is the best!

March 22, 2025

Hey Christelle, the Milkyway Galaxy is the best disco ball. 😄

I chose the parrot on a magnolia branch from the gallery and generated the image.
I used this image with Ps as a composition reference and applied a watercolour style to it. I changed the colour of the parrot, its beak and the colour of the flowers to make a ‘Can't wait for summer!’ artwork with the parrot as a focal point.

Started with a simple bonsai image, regenerated then dropped it underwater, adding a couple of fish and an inquisitive carb and of course some old dubloons!

Aarrr, me hearty! Can't have too many doubloons!

(I get carbs with my breakfast, but they usually aren't inquisitive. 🤣)

I asked Firefly to generate a Stonehenge-like image.

I cut out the arch in the foreground, isolated it on a new layer and deleted it from the background, using the Remove tool and Generative Fill.
Using the eraser (on a mask) and the Fluidity tool, I sculpted the square arch into a Pi shape and adjusted the floor.

I also used a bit of hue/saturation and changed the sky, as the original one wasn't pretty.

Generated a few versions until got something I liked as below:

Brought into Photoshop and expanded without a prompt to get the image below (after multiple generations, folllowed by cropping and cleaning up):

Tried with a prompt: fantasy forest, trees made of colourful, bright feathers.
After a few versions, many Photoshop adjustments with Generative fill plus other Photoshopping, got:
