Question

New UI is horrible

Title: Please Restore Full-Size Image Preview in Generation History

The new Adobe Firefly interface is a major downgrade in usability.

Previously, I could browse my Generation History, click an image, and view it at full size. Now, clicking an image opens it in edit mode. I cannot simply inspect my own creations at full resolution without downloading them first.

This is an unnecessarily frustrating workflow for users who generate large numbers of images. I want to browse my work, compare results, and find favorites without being forced into an editing workspace.

The new all-in-one interface has made a basic task much more difficult. Boards also does not work properly in Firefox, forcing me to switch to Chrome.

Please restore a simple full-size image preview in Generation History, with separate options to View Image and Edit Image. Users should also have the option to use the previous, simpler workflow.

Combining tools into one workspace should not mean removing basic functionality or making everyday tasks harder. Please listen to the users who actually use Firefly regularly and give us back a fast, straightforward way to browse our images.

Someone posted a link to the old interface in this thread but now I can’t find the link. Does anyone have it? The new interface is back to deleting all my reference images and breaking my browser. I was happy with the old interface.

Today I tried to give the new user interface a chance. But it's so nerve-racking . They really destroyed the best feature about a web app is being able to open different tabs to focus on a different tasks now you have this new user interface giving you everything all at once. Constantly updating whenever something changes in the generation history constantly automatically scrolling up and down while you are working on a different prompt the screen just keeps scrolling up and down whenever something happens in the background it's so nerve-racking and disorientating.

Every time I think of reloading a older generation I come to the realization that I just can't access anything in this new interface I have to scroll through the entire generation history to go months back if I just opened the generation history in a different tap I don't even have the ability to reload the generation because it's always opening in the edit mode and from there on you're just stuck not that you can do nothing else but edit even if you don't want to edit.

The biggest strength of the old user interface with for example generate video was that everything was displayed what you needed. You had the prompt text box in the left corner you had all the settings you didn't have to click through menus to change those settings you could just see all the settings right there on the left side a big preview window and a generate button and then a generation history at the bottom only displaying the generations you made within that browsertab.

This was just perfect because in one tap you were working on shot A always refining it and you had all the different iterations of that shot you are trying to create in one tab. Another step for example I was generating images with. It worked perfectly because every tap had its own purpose..

Now I can't really do anything because you're giving me everything at once and everything is constantly updating in every tap so I don't know what generations are done which generations are still running I have to open a different app and constantly reload the generation history in a different app to see if anything has changed there. Because the user interface I'm working with is constantly scrolling up and down whenever something is happening in the background. It's nerve-racking you're trying to be creative you're trying to put in the time and effort for the prompts and you're constantly being distracted with everything around you.

And working inside a project would help that but if I want to use elements in a project constantly have to copy/clone an element to be put into that project. But I want to use the same element in different projects. In that case for example I have 20 projects and I want to use the same element in those 20 projects this means I have to make 20 copies of the same element. And then whenever I want to generate something not within a project and I type in AT I get a super long list of elements because all the elements were constantly copied I have a list of 20 of the same elements then just because I had to clone it for every single project I made. This is beyond disorganized and chaos.

You really need to go back to the drawing board on this one Adobe. Nothing in this use interface is intuitive the beauty of having a web app is that you can open different apps for different tasks and your new user interface doesn't allow that because every tab would be the same thing and every tab is constantly going to load every single thing in the generation history. This new user interface lacks usability lacks access and critical menu buttons for opening loading previous generations, it is a disaster for organizing elements.  You cannot search the generation history within the new user interface so if you want to load back a previous generation you have to scroll the entire generation history which in my case is thousands of clips, also this generation history in the new user interface is also loading a preview when you can hover above the thumbnail which makes the entire page laggy, and prone to be crashed. This new user interface is constantly loading reloading refreshing while you're trying to work the entire interface is constantly scrolling up and down whenever you want to click on a button something shifts in the user interface and you click the wrong clip or a different button that you didn't want to click.

Productivity is going down very steeply at my firm. Because it's a workaround upon a workaround upon a workaround and it's it's taking us 30 minutes now to reload an old generation when it used to just be one mouseclick away, I'm spending 30 minutes now for something that used to take 1 to 5 seconds. How is this progression?????

Hi all!
You can check out this post about what to do when the generation history appears small on the right side in Generations.

Best.

But you can't open the generation it takes you to the edit clip mode. That is no way like before when you click or open via the drop down menu to to open the clip so you can regenerate the clip with all the information still there the prompt text the settings (model, resolution, etc) and all the reference images already loaded. Now you have to do everything from the beginning. Or use the untouchable generation history in the new interface. Do you have to scroll up through thousands of clips to find a clip you've done months ago.

There should be an option in the generation history to open the clip in the same way like the "reuse settings"button. Also when you add a generation to a project and then it appears in the files folder of that project you also should be able to open that clip and reloaded it in the same way as the "reuse button"does.

This is especially true for the mobile version which there is an impossibility to reload past generations. We are losing so much time because this feature isn't available to us anymore we have to start every generation from scratch rebuilding it looking up files on their own hard drive. Our productivity in the office is down significantly since this update because key features are now not available anymore.

two tabs is what I am forced to do now. If someone has a better solution I would be interested as well. And to answer your question, no thought about workflow, and usability when into this latest screw up.

Bring back being able to see the original image after its been edited, how am I meant to know if its been edited other than opening two tabs to check the difference, what a backwards way of updating it. Do better

Since the recent update they have removed a vital feature in the edit image section, when trying to edit an image you can no longer see the original image after the edit has been generated, meaning you have no idea whether its been successful. Who thought that would be a good idea? Other than having two tabs open has anyone got a better way around this ?

I had a taste of that new interface on the 27th of October. I couldn’t retain reference images after one generation--I had to find and reload my reference images every time. I couldn’t retain the image prompt--it reloaded every time i clicked on my reference image from the turn previous. I can’t upvote or downvote results. I can’t retain my reference images if I put more than one. It deletes them permanently and I have to hunt them all on my hard drive after EVERY image generation. Put simply, it breaks the workflow.

Today our productivity at the office today was below par everybody's hating this new broken User Interface, we are unable to open our previous generations and continuing with them. As I said many times before this option has been removed from the generation history. because it is opening in edit clip mode and we cannot reuse the settings.

I know you can reuse settings in the new user interface but you can't even search the generation history. So we have to scroll up thousands of clips to find the right one and if we're lucky we can find it before the webpage crashes after needlessly loading up all this interactive thumbnails.

Many also have said that the new user interface is too messy. It is great when you start a new project and you only work in that project. But when you are focusing on a generation to be perfect and you want to redefine the prompt the other graphical user interface that was much more simple was perfect for that. I know it's still exist but I can't reload any of my previous generations in that interface anymore. It's so frustrating having something right there and you can't even open it right because the option has been removed for no reason whatsoever.
