P: Not sure why my images "violate guidelines" (image depicts children)

I attempted to generate video from two different photos of a man and his mother and a family walking in the woods. Both were immediately rejected. Then I used Firefly to generate an image of a man holding his daughter and tried to use that, but it was also rejected. I've attached these images here. I can find no reason that the system would reject these on a content-level. So any thoughts you have would be appreciated.

UPDATE: as of March 19, 2026

While Firefly models and most partner models have restrictions that do not permit children to be used in keyframes in video generation, the Runway Gen-4.5 and Kling 2.5 Turbo do allow children in keyframes.

Why I am getting 'We can't process this prompt because the reference image

doesn't meet our User Guidelines. You can upload another
image and try again.' error.
I am using my son's image to create a video.

On two occasions I've uploaded images of artists to create a simple animation from a still photo. One of a boy, and one of a girl. Both are fully clothed, and both images wholly tasteful and clean, yet Firefly rejects them based on user guidelines.

Hello @Randall_Leddy3528,

Thank you for your message.

The Firefly video model has a restriction that it will not generate videos with key frames that contain children. That is a restriction in the model currently.

Hello @Juan378375549ucq,

The problem is that the model believes your first keyframe contains a child. The model currently will not generate videos from keyframes it believes contain children. That is a current limitation of the model.

Tentei criar imagens de crianças lavando as mãos ou com xampu na cabeça e o Firefly dá erro.

Gostaria de saber o motivo.

Im not sure I understand why its not creating video with prompts given or without. It is a picture I tool of my wife and kids the prompts were simple "pan from running waterfall to my wife and kids posing on bridge"

  • Nothing in tos forbids what I am trying to accomplish with the program. Would like further clarification as to why I am unable to create this.
  • Its a typical portrait shot of my wife and kids standing next to each other and the other is a running waterfall.

Hi @Felix3LGato !

Thanks for pointing that out. Firefly currently avoids generating videos from images that include children. This is a careful step to make sure the model handles such content responsibly. We know it can be limiting, but it’s part of ensuring safety as the tool improves.

Thanks

Images generated with firefly are unable to be used to create a video transition even though they meet guidelines and come directly from firefly.

Hi @CrazyGenre,

Most likely these were blocked because the model thought there were children in the image. The model currently will not generate a video based on a key frame it believes contains children. That is a restriction in the current model.

Hello @Suchanda ,

At this time, the model will not generate videos based on keyframes that contain children. That is a limitation of the model.

I see in forums that the beta version of firefly didn't allow children in reference frame photo is that still the case for the full version as I assume this is no longer in beta?

I created an image on firefly. It is a simple image of an ancient family in the desert. It shows a man wearing an ancient robe, a woman with a headcovering, and two boys.

I imported this image into Firefly generative video, and it refused to use the image, citing it as an offensive image against the guidelines. Like, What?

Firefly refused to use an image created by Firefly!

I will attach the "offensive" image created by Firefly.

So I can't use an AI generated image of children, made by Firefly itself to animate it on Firefly?

I can't image this being a problem. Is this limitation a bug, or a deliberate limitation by design?
