3D layers and Layer style

Guyyyyssss!

I have some 3D layers rotating around a null- it seems when I apply a layer style (bevel and emboss) the layers revert to their position in the layer hierachy as apposed to 3D space... Don't want to precompose because i need the bevel's highlight and shadow to remain relative... any thoughts?

* in the meantime im working with Bevel Alpha Effect, but the lighting isnt interactive...

It is an After Effects limitation. Layer Styles in 3D layers avoid them to intersect in 3D space. This also occurs with other types of layers like Adjustment Layers and 3D precomposition when you use track mattes inside them or without collapsed transformations.

You have to change layer hierchy in your timeline. Probably even if your layers in Z space are violet, blue, green but in your timeline your blue is above violet one. Quick preview of how it works:

Thats presicely the problem, the objects need to pass in front and behind. Not a deal-breaker though

    Thanks for the responses!

Ok. So - no... that will not work that way - but that you already know.
