After Effects 2020 (17.1.4) Hangs On "Initializing MeidaCore" With Dynamic Link Enabled

Hello Everyone!

Recently have run into an issue where AE 2020 launches super slow when Dynamic Link is enabled.

I am not opening a project file but AE will open ~20 DynamicLinkManager processes.

If I rename "dynamiclinkmanager.exe" AE opens just fine and there is no issue.

I have done the following:

-Reinstalled AE (multiple times)

-Updated Graphics Drivers

-Reinstalled the entire CC Suite

-Deleted Prefences

-Deleted the "%appdata%\Adobe" folder

My system Specs are:

-Ryzen 3950x

-64GB Ram

-Nvidia 2070 Super

-1TB SSD

I haven't had a problem with AE until this weekend. Specifically after I imported a Illustrator file into AE and then all the problems started.

The program never seems to fully crash as well, it just hangs and windows brings up its error reporter, so I never get any crash logs and I never get a chance to report the crash from the Adobe Crash Reporter.

The picture taken is from a fresh install of AE.

Would you run AfterFX.exe and dynamiclinkmanager.exe as Run as Administrator (choose *.exe and right-click)?

Hi haninea45451944,

Sorry for your issue.

Did any of the suggestions from experts help? If not, try removing the third-party plug-ins and see if that helps.

Here's how to you can remove the plug-ins:

  1. Go to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Common\Plug-ins\7.0\MediaCore
  2. Remove all the files and folders except dummy.txt.
  3. Launch After Effects.

Let us know if it helps.

Thanks,

Nishu

Hi,

I did all the changes and removed the third party plugins. But this had no effect.

Thanks for your help

See this page to see if any of the discussion there is helpful.

Also, try using the public beta to see if it behaves itself better.

Try opening up Preferences and setting the available memory for other apps to a multiple of 4GB. Dynamic-link does not seem to behave well when the memory for AE or other apps is set to an odd number.
