Audio cuts out after 1st frame in preview

When I launch the project and preview the comp the audio plays fine for the first 5 or 6 times I use preview, then it cuts out after the first frame. If I quit and reopen it plays fine but again, only for the first 5 or 6 previews. The cache is empty and the allocated RAM is 29 GB. 
The issue happens with either cached or un-cached previews.
I am using a 3d camera and if I toggle the 3d option on layers while the preview is playing I can hear the music for a frame at the exact time I toggle the 3D option on any layer. Then it stops again.

 

Any fixes?

Update your system's audio driver and check the settings as well as the relevant preferences in AE.

Hi! Thanks for the suggestion, however, the drivers are all up to date and the settings and ae preferences haven't changed since before the issue started. For now the only thing that's working is tossing 2021 and working on ae 2020, not great tho...
