Error: Can't import project (wrong format or file not readable)

Hello community,

I am new here and i have the following problem:

operating system: Windows 10

after effects is on the latest version.

I am working on a project and after saving it my laptop crashed. I thought that it is no problem because i saved the project. I restarted my laptop and I tryed to open it again.

Now there is a window with an error: After effects warning: File ***** can't be importet as a project (wrong type of format or not readable)

What causes the problem here? Couldn't find solutions so far. I have no auto saved files.

The size is still 234 KB so the content should be still there.

    Start by manually deleting all cache files and also consider trashing the prefs to reset them.

    I will try it when I am at home thanks for the answear! Where can i find these cache files? The only file i got is the project.aep file.

    You think a reinstall of after effects could help too? This might also delete the cache.
