psd not updating in ae

I have an after effects comp I have created by animating a PSD file. All parts of the file were generated in PS.

After animating the logo I started editing in PrPro. I noticed a flutter in a part of the logo. It was the box with a stroke.
I did put a wiggle expression on it so the opacity would flutter like a neon light. So I went back into the original PSD file and zeroed the fill on that box but it did not update in PrPro. So I opened AE again (via edit original) and tried to get it to update there bit it will not.

I remover the wiggle expression and still the box remained with its full fill.

Is there a link between elements missing or broken?

Was my process of updating wrong?

When i went into AE and tried to do edit original it did nothing. I worked on other files in the project but not on that PSD. Go figuire.

I just recreated the box in AE and animated that. I am probably going to keep going back to that project trying to figure it out. FUN :-)

Try revealing the layer in the Project and then try revealing the source file in the Project Panel. You can get there by right-clicking and checking the menu.

The source files are not stored in After Effects. AE has to update if you saved the file in the same location with the same name. If you remove layers from a PSD they may go missing, but any change in a saved PSD file will show up the next time the AEP is opened or After Effects runs in the background using Dynamic Link. Almost all of the time you do not have to do anything to get the files to update.

If your project is not updating then you either saved the PSD in another location or did not save it. The only other possibility is that somehow the old cache files are being used for the render.

You can quickly check the file by selecting the PSD in After Effects and choosing Edit Original (Ctrl/Cmnd  + e). That will show you exactly which file is being used in the project.
