RIght-Click on the MS DOS version of after effects in AE's folder, and click open. It will load up just fine.

For windows

Goto App data

goto Roaming/Adobe/After Effects

Then Right click 16.1 folder

Click Give access to -> Remove access

then give access share everyone

I think this may be a solution to the problem

I tried to change the permissions. I found it's already shared as the problem appeared after I've been using the program without any problem for a while. I've also tried the give access trick it didn't work.

Final I tried to presss Ctrl+Alt+the app icon on my task bar and it worked!

Hi isaakvanwegen,

I agree with Mylenium. It seems that After Effects folder does not have proper read/write permissions and that is causing the launch error.

  • Did this start happening after the latest update?
  • Are you signed in as the administrator on this computer?

I would recommend the following steps:

  1. Check for the permissions for the specified folder in the error. Refer: how to change folder and file permissions in windows 10 - Microsoft Community
  2. Select the application > Right click > Run as administrator.

Let me know if the issue persists. We're here to help.

Thanks,

Shivangi

It means what it says - verify your file and folder permissions. Google is your friend.
