Unable to Right Click (Secondary Click) in After Effects on second monitor?

Hi there-thanks in advance for any help!

I seem to have run into an issue on after effects, I am using a Macbook Pro-Retina 2014 on High Sierra.

When I connect my computer to a monitor and use it as a dual display, I am unable to right click, as well as use any drop down menus: such as for blending modes.

The issue isn't with my screen or mouse as I can right click elsewhere such as on my desktop and other applications just not in After Effects.

Currently using : After Effects CC (2017)

Any help appreciated many thanks!

Seth

    Hello.

I had the exact same issue with After Effects.

I ended up finding a way to deal with it.

In the Mission Control preference panel, you have to uncheck the "screens have their own spaces" (sorry, I'm french, i dont know the exact terms used in the english version of macOS). That's the last checkbox in the list.

After a restart, the right click drop down menus are back on my second screen (on both After Effects CC 2017 and 2018)

Hope it will work for you.

    Let me know.

Having the same problem in July 2023!

I have been unable to right click or even drag assets around into new folders ion the project!?

What sorted it for me was to drag the whole window to the second monitor then back again AND make sure that I didn't resize to the full screen - when I did this the issue came back?

I can only imagine that is some sort of issue where AFX and mac are messing up figuring out which monitor you're on when you size to the extreme edges of the main monitor? Never used to be an issue though.

    Hello ! I fixed this problem on Windows 10 ! I have 3 monitors . 1 and 2 monitor have 150% scale , because it's 4k monitor .

And when I connected 3 monitor with 1920x1080 my panels in After Effects broken . So I chaneged Scale on 3 monitor to 175%  and magical buttons in AF start working. On windows this issu fixed by resolution scale 😉

    P.S. It's alsow work with 150% scale .

The idea is - scale resolution of additional monitor could not be less than main display scale .

I've experienced a similar issue in Premiere Pro on several machines.  Right clicking on the left monitor brings up the dialog box in the right monitor.

What, exact, version number of After Effects are you using? This issue should be fixed in the recent update.

The After Effects update that came out last night (might take up to 24 hours to propagate to Adobe's servers around the world) fixes this issue. (And several others - it also adds some new functionality.)

Thank you, Szalam, it's working good now without changing the Mission Control preference, thank you again!

The mission control checkbox helped, but the drawback is that one then can't access the top menu bar on the second monitor as this functionality is then "switched off"... very frustrating either way!! Please fix this,  Adobe!!

    Hello.

I had the exact same issue with After Effects.
