Latest version of Adobe Audition (on a Mac) Input and output problems

Hi

Since the latest version installed a few days ago, Adobe Audition on both an I-Mac (for editing) and an i-Mac mini (for recording) is losing both input and playback devices - and when I try to reset, and faced with the dreaded spinning wheel, and no playback working. Very frustrating. If I close down completely, it finds the playback device and plays, until I do anything ... e.g. delete a section of audio, clean up a section, run a process, then it crashes, and the device is lost and the audio won't play back.

Any ideas?
