Multi Track session defaults to long time session

When inserting a short clip (seconds not minutes) into a new multitrack session, clip shows up at the END of a very long time line. Any ideas?

Try going to Edit>Preferences>Multitrack Clips and taking the check out of 'Use embedded timecode when inserting clips into Multitrack'. You haven't indicated what the source of the clip is, but generally that's the cause of this particular issue.
