Red Tracks while Recording

While recording the tracks are red, and the levels are very low. Monitor levels appear to be typical.

Tried switching out from Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6 to Behringer UMC404HD, encountered the same issue.

Has this happened to anyone else? What could I be doing wrong?

Yes! Follow thoroughly the advice which @SteveG_AudioMasters_ gave in his reply! There is no other "fix" possible.

Red is normal for recording tracks. As for your levels - well, there's clearly not enough getting through your sound device. Nothing to do with Audition though - that simply records what it's sent. What level does the track meter read? (To get an actual level, you'll have to open the Mixer window). If you have two devices that have behaved correctly before both doing this now, I'd suspect your source.
