I am new to this scripting thing. I found some code here (adding filenames to keywords) but I cannot get it to work. I have pasted it into TextEdit and Text Wrangler saving as text files with .js and .jsx extensions but it hasn't worked. (Brige CS4 recognizes it being added but it doesn't show up in the right-click menu or anywhere else I can look.) Is there a 'start here' topic/section/link? Thanks.
Hi All, To help us with future planning, we would like to get a feel for how many developers are using the FTP and HTTP objects that are available with scripting in CS3 (through webaccesslib). If you are using them could you send me a quick email describing how you use the component? My email address is alan.morris@adobe.com Thanks in advance. Alan Morris Dev Tech Engineer Adobe Systems
Is it possible to run a bash script on every selected file?jamie
Anyone done it? An API definition appears absent from the Bridge CS4 SDK documentation.
Dear all,I'm writing a script that creates Inspector Panel and encountered a problem: some versions of Bridge, for example CS3 and CS4 for Mac, interpret incorrectly new line ("\n") and new paragraph ("\r") characters. You can see this if you run SnpCreateTextInspectorPanel script, that comes with Bridge SDK. In CS3 for Windows it works as expected: displaying a list of names for selected files in dynamic text section of the subpanel. But if you run the same script in CS3/4 for Mac, it displays only the first line. However the information is still there — if you move cursor over the panel, right click and choose copy, then paste it into TextEdit, all lines are present there. To illustrate the problem I attached two screenshots I made after running SnpCreateTextInspectorPanel script, one in CS3 for Windows, another in CS3 for Mac.Kasyan
I have 3 flex apps, that run at the same time in 3 flash player script palettes, all called from a javascript, running perfectly fine in Adobe CS3. It never crashes.I am trying to upgrade it to CS4 and it crashes, at different spots, but all the time. I have tried all the troublshooting tips, to lessen memory, cache, etc., but nothing seems to work. I have tried to change my code to be more sequential, and wait till things are loaded, but that only helps a little.I noticed that CS3 uses less CPU, and when CS4 does crash it is over 100 CPU on Activity Monitor.\What are the differences between CS3 and CS4 that makes CS4 so un-stable?Any suggestions?thanks, Todd
Hello all. I have recently purchased the Javascript for Adobe Bridge reference book as well as the Javascript Bible reference book. I'm not asking for a fully fleshed out code but maybe some direction on where to begin. If my images are all contained in a folder but the naming conventions are not based on any sequential hierarchal system but rather varying sets of three digit numerical codes, is it possible to whip together a javascript file that takes an xls spreadsheet with specific keyword columns and rows and parses through, embedding certain rows of information onto corresponding images containing three digit code sets, if that makes any sense? Thanks and look forward to further discourse pertaining to this topic.Jesse
Hello! I posted the following in the "Adobe Bridge for Macintosh" forums and it was suggested that I repost here: I am trying to do something that I thought would be simple but am now tearing my hair out. I want to make a basic contact sheet that displays file name and file dimensions as captions. Since the Photoshop CS3 Contact Sheet II only allows for filename, I went into the InDesign CS3 Contact Sheet II tool. In the caption editor, I have tried selecting the metadata from EXIF and TIFF, both which claim to display dimensions. Neither work, saying "metadata not available". I see no option to simply grab the file property which would save me a whole lot of headache. I tried to look where to edit the metadata for dimenions - they're not in the list in the Bridge CS3 metadata window. I'm pretty much stuck. Am I missing something obvious or am I out of luck? EDIT: I think the issue is that all but one of the images are GIF files and it doesn't seem to detect dimensions from that
How do I define a new jsx file I created as a menu item within bridge? Documentation says to look at sample snpaddmenuitem.jsx, but I cannot find it within my sdk sample list. Thank you in advance for any assistance.
Is it possible to do this? I can't find an example in the documentation or online anywhere. I'd really like to know when the user presses the arrow keys while viewing the slideshow in Bridge. Thanks!
Is there a way to combine a filename plus commandline switches into a File Object such that it can be used in a File.execute action? For example:var pgm = File("c:/windows/explorer.exe")then somehow concatenate a "/e" or "/root" resulting in:pgm.execute(); that actually works?
I am attempting to use Extendscript to perform the following function;Read a folder on my hard drive i.e. c:/tempFind all the .rw2 files imported from my lx3Convert them to dng format for use by Adobe BridgeFor some reason, I am unable to script this to a point where the invocation of adobe~1.exe with the dngconverter commandline parameters will return true. I have written a cmd file to iterate through the folder, where the files are found and converted successfully when done from a command line, but invoking the cmd file via the Extendscript only converts a single file, not the group. If anyone can shed any light on this subject, or potentially provide an example of how this can be done, it would be greatly appreciated.Thank you,LX3FAN
Hello, I have to work on many pictures so i don't want to do every step for every picture. I have no experience with scription so i ask you. I'm searching for a script (or somthing else) that copies the keywords of one file into the description-field of the same file automaticly. Yours Robin from Germany
I have written an ASP.NET 3.5 website application on behalf of an annual international photographic competition. Entrants will be uploading digital photos in either JPEG or TIFF format. Ideally, I would write entrant identity and image title information into the XMP metadata for each image immediately after upload - but so far, I have failed to find any way to do this in ASP.NET. Thousands of images are involved, so I need to find a way to automate the metadata insertion, perhaps with some sort of script that uses a text file (extracted from the SQL Server database on my website) as the source of the metadata for a batch of images. Is this the sort of task that can be done by writing a script for Bridge CS3? Are there any scripts already in existence that I could use? I am a total beginner in this area. I use a Win XP PC, though I have a colleague who, I think, has CS3 on his Mac (running under the Leopard OS), so scripts for either platform might be usable. David

OK, with Flash Player 10 we can load and save local files from a flex web application, then why can't I within Bridge, when I load the same swf file in a Bridge tabbed palette, the load and save functions no longer work.Is it because I am loading as a ScriptUI called flash palette, instead of an HTML palette? I have tried the Global Flash Player Security to allow my swf permission and created a .cfg but nothing seems to work. Please help.thanks, Todd
I see that Bridge displays in Window title bar the name of selected folder or the name of collection displayed in content window. I need to grab that name. In IE of FF it would be easy: document.title; in Bridge this is undefined. In the old days I would use Windows API, having a handle, to get info about window. There has to be easier way. If not, how to make a call to Windows API from Bridge javascript?
Can a Javascript, created with ExtendedScript Toolkit, be started from inside Bridge without Toolkit? How to make it an "Extension" MXP or MXI from Javascript code?

Is it possible to edit the 'description' field through a script. I've been trying off and on all day and coming up dry. here is what i have now thanks to some script i've found from John Beardsworth (thanks, btw!!) that i managed to narrow to my needs...#target bridgeif ( app.name == "bridge" && app.version[0] == '3' ){// Create main menu item var menu = new MenuElement( "menu", "Filename to Metadata cart", "at the end of Tools", "g2mMenu"); var g2tCommand = new MenuElement("command", "click here", "at the end of g2mMenu");//-----------------------------------------------------------------------//Submenu for filename to iptc title g2tCommand.onSelect = function(m) { var getFolderChildren = true ; var filesOnly = true ; var
Hey Guys and Gals, I need an export script but with a variant.Using Bridge CS4 I need to export the metadata from a directory of files to a XML file. And I want all the metadata, not just part of if as the Web Galleries do.I need this file so in Dreamweaver I can create a Spry data set. Adobe seems to have forgotten that to use a XML file as a data set you need to create it first! I am not going to sit here and manualy type and create a XML file for a directory of 800 TIF images (3.2 gigabyte). I already did that in creating the metadata!Their kind of like me at times, can't see the forest for the trees. Or, conversely, they've sold you the car but forgot to give you the keys to it.Now to truly make this script useful give the user the option to create a CSV or XML file! This should be coded into Bridge!!!Thanks in advance for any assistance.
I am in the process of scoping out a project for a client and I am trying to determine whether using the web access library, we can directly connect to a mysql database on a server and perform queries on the server to retrieve data from the server. I cannot find any examples of this. Is this possible? If so, can you point me to an example? Is the "HTTPConnectionObject" or the "Socket Object" what we would use?
We have 100 people in our office. Currently, in order to enable color management, we have to go into each person's Bridge Center Color Management Color Settings panel, select our custom color settings file and hit apply. That takes care of 1 out of 100 people. How can we automate this process... We would like to create a script that sends a custom color setting file to individual user's stations. Does anybody know the registry setting that controls synchronization of settings on a user level? Thanks, Dan
Hi all,I need a script that will take the caption of a photo (description field of IPTC core), then remove all pronouns, prepositions, articles, conjunctions, plus of course all punctuation, and then place the remaining words into the keywords field. There may be some other words I'll want removed too. I have never written a script and know nothing about writing scripts. I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. Thanks for any help!Phil
We are running the new CS Web Premium 4 on MacOS 10.4.11. In Bridge, sometimes the CR2 Raw file does not show a preview thumbnail. It only appears with a thumbnail that reads RAW. If you launch it in Photoshop and make a minor correction, when you hit Done, the thumbnail preview appears in Bridge. Please advise how to fix this so that we can view all Raw thumbnail previews.
