I'm trying to write a little script to upload my photos from Bridge to Flickr. I shoot in DNG, and Flickr won't accept RAW files, so I'm converting the files to JPEG using the BitmapData to export a new file. I want to try and preserve all the EXIF data from the file because Flickr can read this and display it, and if I take one of the photos into Photoshop and save it out as a JPEG it does preserve the data. The only method I can find to try and do this in scripting seems to be to serialize the Metadata object from the Thumbnail that I am reading from, make a new XMPFile out of the newly exported JPEG and open it for update, and then run putXMP with the serialized Metadata. This succeeds in writing the XMP data, but does not appear to properly preserve the EXIF data. Neither Flickr nor Mac OS X Get Info can detect any data about the new file other than the date. Any help in this is appreciated, Thanks, Greg
Hi guys, Photoshop has a great function of loading files into a single stack, so as not to have many 10's of files to open. Bridge on the other hand allows for better viewing and navigation through folders etc. Just wondering if it was possible to select all the files you wanted open to a stack from bridge but these then to open in photoshop in a single psd file. It is possible to open all the files from Bridge then run the load in stack from the open files but then you have to close each file manually. Not sure if a photoshop script can be drag 'n' dropped into Bridge and load from there once the files have been highlighted. If so which folder as there are already Photoshop scripts avaliable in Bridge but cant seem to find how or where they are stored. Any help would be much appreciated. Many thanks in advance.
Hello, search a solution, a Script or another, which writes the file name into keywords field of same file (Metadata: Description/Keywords) in "photoshop", "bridge" or better in "Lightroom" . I found this topic from Mike Hale http://www.ps-scripts.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=1330 It's possible this script to change this in such a way that it does this: "script to insert file name into keywords field of same file" Thanks and best greetings Wolfgang
I've implemented a handy scrolling panel thing based on some code I got from Bob Stucky awhile back. One thing that has become evident is that the maximum width of a panel is restricted by the width of the display. Or, if you have have more than one display, the sum of the width of the displays. This is less than useful for two reasons: 1) I need more room. 2) My UI will have inconsistent behaviour depending on someones monitor size. Is there any known way of getting around this undocumented limitation? -X
Getting the following: this.dlgMain.ddSet.onChange is not a function : 810 Get it when I try to use the image processor to process several (25) raw images. I have used this before without a problem and it just started today. Not sure if it is something in the latest update I installed or what (OS 10.4.9). I have looked across the forums for info and found a few posts, but nothing has worked for me as of yet. anyone help????? Maybe a adobe problem or a Mac problem? Mac 10.4.9 CS2 9.0.2 Camera raw 3.9 Please help a technically challenged guy Thanks Matt
I've published a sample script on the Bridge blog about metadata scripting with Bridge and AdobeXMPScript -- specifically the script deals with GPS metadata and automation that synchronizes work done by both Bridge and Photoshop. Here is the link: http://blogs.adobe.com/bridge/2009/01/copy_gps_metada_1.html Enjoy! -David
I'm trying to write a short script to add a context menu item that copies the selected item's URI to the Windows clipboard so I can paste it into an email. The following code shows the string in an alert box: if (app.document.selections.length==1) { var myPath = decodeURI( app.document.selections[0].path); alert(myPath); } else if (app.document.selections.length==0 || app.document.selections.length>1) { alert("Please select single file or folder"); } I thought this might be ok but since I can't highlight the text on the alert box it doesn't help much. Is there any way to copy a string from the script into the Windows clipboard?
I create Contact Sheets in InDesign through Bridge (CS2) for EPS files many times a day. To get the EPS files to import to the contact sheet I have to add the file type to the File Type Filter (under Files...) every time I create a contact sheet. Is there a way of changing the script so that the EPS files will automatically be included in the File Type Filter? I have no experience with scripting and am having a hard time finding information on this topic. Thanks for any help you can offer! Melissa
I'm trying to add a "Send to Flickr Uploadr" context menu to bridge, but I've hit a snag in getting the files to the Flickr Uploader program. <br /><br />I've tried using openWith(), but i don't think that it does what I want it to do. But the documentation on openWith() is a bit sparse. If openWith() is indeed the wrong method to use, what is correct way, or is this even possible? <br /><br />Thanks.<br /><br />here's what i've got so far...<br /><br />// path to flickr uploader<br />flickrPath = "/C/Program Files/Flickr Uploadr/Flickr Uploadr.exe";<br /><br />// only have 1 instance of each<br />function checkEl(w){<br />> var menuEl = MenuElement.find(w);<br />> if (menuEl != null){<br />> MenuElement.remove(w);<br />> }<br />}<br /><br />// send selected files to flickr uploader<br />function send2Flickr(f){<br />> fName = app.document;<br
Can anyone tell me if the adobelibrary scripts written by Bob Stucky are still being maintained by adobe and whether they are supposed to work with CS3. I understand adobe made changes to bridgetalk... A script (CS2) I wrote using the bridgetalk functions in adobelibrary is not functioning properly in CS3. I have not investigated closely, but the problems I am encountering involve switching the focus between Bridge dialogs and photoshop and back again. As I mentioned, the code worked fine in CS2. Thanks Rory
BridgeTalk.getSpecifier('photoshop') Result: photoshop-11.032 BridgeTalk.getSpecifier('photoshop', 11) Result: null With Photoshop CS4 (version 11) running: BridgeTalk.isRunning('photoshop') Result: true BridgeTalk.isRunning('photoshop-11') Result: false BridgeTalk.isRunning('photoshop-11.032') Result: true This is breaking a lot of my code. Also, the adobelibrary scripts are broken. Is adobe committed to these scripts - if not, why produce them? As seems to be the case for adobe products in the last few years, the ESTK continues to be a work in progress...
First I want to apologize for a long message. I thought it was necessary to be very detailed to explain the problem. I am an absolute newbie to Photoshop Bridge and workflow in the Mac world. I have been doing workflow on a PC for many years. I try to use the tool on my Mac using Parallels but Parallels has a hard time with removable media. I love my Mac and want to find a way to do what I have been doing for years using my Mac and Adobe tools. Here is what I do in a nutshell using a tool that does all of these steps: 1. Insert the memory card 2. The card is detected and the tool fires up 3. The tool reads the card and list the image files found on the card. 4. I can either highlight some of them or all of them. 5. The tool allows me to specify a "job code". (this is basically the description of the group of images.) 6. I choose to download the images. Again either all or a selection. 7. The tool processes the images. I will describe what processes means below. 8. After the process
I am trying to use the InDesign contact sheet, and I have figured out how to edit the script to adjust the paragraph styles. However, I have only been able to affect the entire text frame. I would like to have it so that the XMP description label is bold and the metadata is regular. Is it possible to alter the font style of just the label in the script? Thanks!
I'm working on one of these scripts that is reading/writing metadata to image files. Reading from a tab-delimited text file and spitting that data into the image meta data. I have worked a script up that is working, but what I need to find out is how to access all the different fields of data available. I need to go through and check to see if there's data in certain fields that shouldn't be there. I can see the fields in Bridge, but don't know how to access them in the script. For example, I am using this schema for "Author": md.namespace = "http://ns.adobe.com/photoshop/1.0/"; md.Author = author; That put data into what displays as "Creator" under the IPTC Core section in Bridge for the image. Is there a master list of all the schemas and what they access? I have been reading this: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/xmp/pdfs/XMPSpecificationPart2.pdf Which helps, but seems to be missing some of the fields I need to access - like keywords, copyright and such. Thanks. I tried searc
After doing a XMPMeta.serialize() and Metadata.serialize() comparison, it's obvious that Metadata is returning more than just the explicit XMP data in a file. It is deriving/computing other fields (EXIF properties, for instance) and using that to construct a more complete XMP view of a file's metadata. photoshop:ColorMode is one example of a field that Metadata will contain but XMPMeta does not (at least when the image file is a generic jpg). While I do understand the reasons behind this, it limits the usefulness of XMPMeta in Ps or Id. For instance, there is no way to determine (via XMPMeta) which files in folder are Portrait or Landscape orientation because the necessary tiff properties will probably not be available. And this is not an uncommon thing to want to do in PS. What is really needed is to have Metadata as a part of the core ESTK libraries in addition to XMPMeta. As it presently stands, I have to use BridgeTalk (to call Bridge) to get all of a file's metadata i
Don't know if this belongs here or in Photoshop forum since it invloves a Photoshop feature called by Bridge -- but since Bridge is where I typically use it... Currently I'm creating contact sheets from folders selected within Bridge (or thumbnails selected in Bridge) and the only way I can quickly get them into a mulitpage contact sheet/catalog format is to then use the PDF Presentation Multipage-Document feature with the add-open-pages selection. Then I can save it as a catalog and delete the Photoshop contact sheet pages. Works well enough but it is awkward to have to first select the open contact sheet files for the PDF Presentation and then close them all and delete them. Also, in the PDF Presentation options I have to deselect all the other files in the folder one by one if the contact sheet was selected from files (or just deselect the folder if I went that route). Often pretty simple but with large numbers of files (and thus a large number of Contact Sheet pages) it gets more
So far I've written a bit about what's in AdobeLibrary1.jsx and AdobeLibrary3.jsx. Now it's AdobeLibrary2.jsx's turn.Bridge provides one method for persistently storing script settings. app.preferences is how it's done. But what if you want to store a bunch of stuff, and you don't want it destroyed when the user purges their preferences? For example, the import from camera script stores standard import locations and renaming templates. You don't want your user to lose those things if the trash their Bridge preferences. The answer is ScriptStore - AdobeLibrary2.jsxScriptStore is an XML storage facility. It's primitive in that there is very little searching capability, you have to know what you put in there. But it's also robust and fast. The actual data is stored in a folder in the user data areaWin: c:\documents and settings\[user]\application data\adobe\ScriptStoreMac: [user]\library\application support\adobe\ScriptStoreThere are plenty of examples in Import from Camera on how to use it.
I'm not sure if this is the appropriate forum to place this message, but I need some help, so here goes: I have CS2 installed on a G5 dual 2 Ghz, with 1 GB RAM. When in Bridge, under the Tools menu where there should be 3 submenus for Photoshop, Illustrator and InDeisgn, there is nothing. I get the Batch Rename, Cache and Metadata submenus, but nothing else. So, I completely uninstalled CS2, including running the Version Cue uninstaller, did searches for literally anything Adobe or Bridge related on the whole system, deleted these, restarted and proceeded to reinstall CS2. But the problem remains- no script menus under Tools. What the heck?! Yet, on another Mac running the same version of CS2, including the updates that were available for it, the Tools menu shows these script submenus. I don't understand why it won't show up on this one Mac. And I've searched just about everywhere on both systems to see if there is some folder in application support or elsewhere that's missing on the
I've been working on a script that looks through all the currently visible images in Bridge and selects a subset of them. In my case, I'm selecting only the latest version of an image (e.g. the PSD, not the NEF). My code logic is working to identify the thumbs that I want to select, but when I try to actually select them in Bridge, I find that Bridge hangs. The whole script is a bit complicated, but the relevant part to my problem is: for (i = 0; i < fileNames.length; i++) { if (!fileNames.hasDerivative) { var thumbObj = currentThumbs[fileNames.thumbIndex]; app.document.select(thumbObj); } } If I comment out the app.document.select line, the script works perfectly. I've even written debugging code that verifies that my script finds all the right thumbs. But, when I try to actually select them in Bridge, Bridge hangs and I have to kill it from task manager. Is there something I'm either doing wrong or need to know about app.document.select(thumb) in Bridge? Why would that ca
I have a script that runs a BridgeTalkLongProcess from an onClick event within a modal dialog. This worked well in CS2, but not in CS3. The BridgeTalkLongProcess does run, but not until the modal dialog closes. The BridgeTalkLongProcess is attempting to run a process in Photoshop (the target)from Bridge. Any tips on how to work around this. Do I have to convert the dialog to a palette? Why the change from the CS2 behavior? TIA Rory
As hard as it is for me to believe, Adobe Premiere Pro doesn't take the date code when capturing video clips from a DV camera and put it into the "shotDate" video metadata field. Instead, it (stupidly in my view) sets the shotDate to the date when the video clip is being captured, not when it was shot. I want to write a script to correct this. So far I've been able to get access to the existing, bad shotDate property, but I can't seem to set it successfully. The relevant portion of my code is as follows. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to why my setting the property isn't working? Thanks in advance! --- var md = thumb.synchronousMetadata; md.namespace = "http://ns.adobe.com/xmp/1.0/DynamicMedia/"; var BadShotDate = md.shotDate; $.writeln("Bad Shot Date: ", BadShotDate); // Get the XMP packet as a string and create the XMPMeta object var xmp = new XMPMeta(md.serialize()); var d = new XMPDateTime(new Date()); // Dummy value for testing xmp.setProperty(XMPConst.NS_XMP, "s
I installed Bridge with Photoshop CS2 about one month ago. Today I also installed InDesign CS2 (also the stand-alone version). Both Photoshop and InDesign start-up fine. However in Bridge I only get the Photoshop scripts under the tool-menu. What should I do in order to obtain both Photoshop and InDesign scripts in the tools-menu? I am running Windows XP SP2. Thanks for your support.
Bridge v: 1.0.4.6 InDesign: 4.0.5 OS: 10.4.9 We've standardized all our fonts at our company which meant removing a lot of the unnecessary ones. Now every time we create an InDesign contact sheet from Bridge, the Names are in a missing font. "Times" to be exact. We've already changed the "Basic Paragraph" style, when no documents are open, to a font we are using, so that doesn't default. I've looked at the script, and found where its creating the "labels" paragraph style, thats defaulting back to the Times font we don't have anymore,...... I'm guessing this is just a default to change somewhere, right? Please help, very frustrating
Hi! I'm trying to write a script that exports the metadata (camera info and photo description) from all the images in a folder to an XML file and then saves it to the same folder. My knowledge of JavaScript is a little rusty and i would need some help. I started reading through the Bridge Scripting Guide, but i gave up... If someone could help me to get started with the script, i would really appreciate it. Thank you Balint
I've run into a deadlock problem with a script that exposes a modal dialog in Bridge and sends a msg to Photoshop. The PS code hangs at 'document.backgroundLayer.copy()', after executing many lines of code. This code worked in CS2 and I've played around quite a bit to try to make it work in CS3. A test snippet that exposes the problem is in http://jhollow.users.sonic.net/test.zip Any help would be appreciated. P.S. another bizarre behavior -- after the test code times out and I dismiss the error dialog, at the next key depress of CTRL or ALT I get an error dialog that says "an error occurred in a bridge extension, Javascript Error (xxxx:277): undefined is not an object". Any ideas on this?
