Question

M1 version of Bridge really coming? I'm starting to doubt it

Hi.

I got my M1 Mac Mini last summer and have been waiting for a version of Adobe Bridge that is compatible with it. I'm starting to give up.

I definitely don't want to install the buggy Rosetta setup, particularly if no M1 version is coming.

1+ years is a long time to wait for compatibility.

Do you all see any reason to believe the m1 version of Bridge is really coming?

Thanks!

RC

Hi, RC, Bridge 13.0.1 offers native M1 suppport, you should upgrade to that version, but be informed that while it supports a modern UI with multiple content tabs, it has for the moment lost the multiple windows feature. It might be wise to keep a copy of V12 if you need that feature.

Hi, I hope that you are still aboard, but the latest Bridge Beta offers native Apple silicon support, with many other functions; and Adobe Max is around the corner... more info: https://community.adobe.com/t5/bridge-discussions/an-update-for-the-adobe-bridge-beta-is-now-available/td-p/13251390

Hi, there were some deep changes in the UI of Bridge, see https://community.adobe.com/t5/bridge-discussions/what-s-new-in-the-bridge-beta/m-p/13128716/thread-id/35393 so maybe was it wiser fot the team to wait to finish those prior to the code conversion to Apple Silicon. Also, give the fact that Adobe is a publicly traded company, most of the times, its employees cannot comment on future updates availability... That's maybe why there was no info prior to when it is avaialble.

We are all angry about Bridge situation. And in the meanwhile Apple has launched 3 new SOOC (M1 Pro, M1 Max, M1 Ultra), but Bridge cannot access to this power yet. It's a shame.

We pay monthly with the promise of constants updates from mother Adobe. Maybe it's time to jump out of this ship...

Until (if) Adobe brings out an M1 version of Bridge, you might want to investigate XNView. Out of the box it looks nothing like Bridge, but if you don't mind putting in a bit of initial work, the level of customization it provides will allow you to create a reasonable facsimile, including labels, ratings, etc. It generates thumbnails near instantaneously and has become my go-to image cataloging application. It's also free (I made a donation once I realized how awesome the program actually is).

There are some things that don't always work as intended, but the author is periodically putting out updates to address the issues users are reporting.

I did some testing of XNViewMP and frankly wasn't impressed, but certainly you can take a look.

As for Rosetta, its from the same people who publish the rest of macOS and works quite well. Bridge does have issues and the development team lags other Adobe teams in getting the software up-to-date so you'll just have to be patient.
